[Q] Does Verizon care about S-OFF?

Well, I getting a replacement DInc2 because of some hardware issue, and I was wondering that if they care if I am just S-OFF'd. I'm not running on any ROM's at all, completely stock rooted.
Would they charge me retail price for my phone if they see I was S-OFF'd?
Is there any kind of guide I can follow to get back S-ON?
Sorry, I'm not new at all to rooting, or replacements. It's just HTC phones I'm new to.
I sent back an s-off phone recently and they didn't do anything. Probably cause they never saw it. I'm not sure they would care if they did. If you used alpha rev then you can s on. Go to rootzwiki. Jcase posted instructions. Follow them to a T. If you used xtc clip then there is no way to s on.

Delete super user. I've never sent one back. But you want all proof of root taken off. So at a glance they will see it is stock.

Ohhh. And how would I do that? Titanium Backup?
Sent from my ADR6350 using xda premium
Here is a little info. Before you do an s-on. Do a recovery to an original ROM that can have SU removed. If you don't have one I am sure someone has one.
Make sure when you send your phone back in to remove your SD card. The majority of root information is stored on the card.
If there is a RUU available for 2.3 then just flash it via bootloader after you s-on.

Yes that is a simpler option.

I cant imagine that they hire people to play around with each phone that gets sent back.
They probably inspect the phone for physical damage, see if it turns on, and plug it into a machine to wipe while they replace the casing, and call the phone a refurb.

+1 I returned my tbolt for an inc2 and the bolt was s-off just flashed the stock ruu. they do a total reset of the phone anyway. they don't care
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
I concur they don't care. Long as you don't send it back with cm7 or something running you will be fine
Sent from my Incredible 2 using XDA Premium App
Asked a guy that works for the phone replacement facility. Said as long as they can flash their stock software on it they don't care to look. It's when the computer can't flash and the phone has errors is when they have to dig into it and look for s-off
Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk
Even if you make a nandroid of the stock rom, you still need a custom recovery to restore it. Meaning unless you flash the ruu, your phone wont be stock

Did you try turning it off and back on again?
Need a little more info...
The replacement I recieved's firmware can not.be.downgraded for the S-Off root. With the software being 2.3.4, revolutionary will not root. All this.being said, i.have not been able to find a successful way to downgrade. I have tried all the ways I have found on XDA as well as google and the only one they said would work was Tacoroot and I havent been able to get my computer to get it to work.

Tell us where you are getting stuck, I got my dinc2 with the same setup you have and (after swearing a lot and crying a little) I got s-off and am now running ICS. We are here to help. Calm down and breath, the community here is very helpful. Also, read everything VERY carefully, if you don't do everything juuuuust right it won't work for you.

You can actually force SuperUser on with the SU zip file. But, you need to have an unlocked BootLoader.
You can unlock your Bootloader from HTC's DevSite.
There is also a video from someone on YouTube named FlamingAiro. The video was posted June 19th, 2012. It's SUPER easy once you understand.
I would link you but the forum prevents me because I have not made enough posts for outside links.

Ah, I appologize; I didn't see you rooted it. My browser glitched out for a second.
Enjoy the root!
Also, a good ROM that has ICS and Sense 4.0 is UKB Evolution 1.1. :3
I have that as well but I'm trying to decide whether to stick with CM10 or sense 4.0.....
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda app-developers app
I think that Sense 4 is a nice OS and that CM10 has a LOT of bugs. It is still in dev form.
Sense 4.0 for the DINC2 (Vivow) is MuCH more stable and has better response. Also, saves your battery.

Root methods

Is there ever going to be a different root method for this phone? I have tried the taco root method a dozen times on two different computers but I always get the same failure. I believe I am doing it right it just won't work. Sorry if this is a dumb question just frustrated at this point.

I don't know what forum you posted to, but I just recently rooted and achieved S-Off with my Dinc2 using the tacoroot method and revolutionary. It took me 10 hours to finally get it and after successfully getting temporary root with tacoroot the trick I found was to run revolutionary and WAIT. Even though each time I ran revolutionary I got the message that read "FAILED! Go make some lemonade" after I waited maybe 20 minutes (while furiously searching for other root methods) the pink "S-OFF" message appeared in my bootloader on its own.

Why can't the vivow have interchangable ROMs with the vivo?

I understand the limitations but I've seen phones such as the incredible one with the Evo and the G1 with its magic and hero counterparts.
Anyone care to give an explanaition?
Im asking this because since the vivo got their share of ics, why can't we at least port it and losing all the radios if that's what's causing the trouble And I doubt its the bootloader because we have S-Off.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda app-developers app
Take a look at this Rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745483). It's a port from vivo for their ics update and this Rom is a port from a different base but still ics (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1953899)
Oh so I was wrong
I actually like the viper ROM

You beat me by 10 minutes - just saw it there as well - doesn't say when, but at least we know it's coming -
Very cool. But my only concern is that if I go back to the stock ROM, And take the 4.4 OTA update,... I will lose my unlocked bootloader. Not sure. But if or when Kit-Kat comes to the RAZR M,.... I'll wait for a custom ROM version. Thanks for great news and the heads up.

I wouldn't worry. When Dan cracked the boot loader he made it crystal clear that it is physically impossible to relock due to the nature of the qfuse. So they may break other things like root ... But they can't relock your boot loader.
At the beginning of the link they say they will tell you when the update will happen but that information isn't given in the razr m section. Am I missing something?
