I am in the process of rooting my Note 2 SCH-I605. I installed the bootloader and it was easy, simple and achieved. My question now is, I read the thread and it says that you should not root the phone with Odin after the bootloader is installed. What do I use to root the phone then? Is there another way to do it?

I stupidly bricked my phone as I had read somewhere that the its xloud update was actually safe to do with unlocked BL and next thing u know the bugger is a brick. I bring the unit bk to life with an unbrick ftf and get it working again, but now I cannot download on the market at all. It jus says starting download, then it jus stops and disappears from the notifaction bar. I have no idea if the brick caused the download issue or if it had started before hand as I dont load a lot on the phone usually. Cheers in advance for any help.

Infact everything runs really smooth. Like the previous post did you resign in to your google account. And have you got cwm if so just restore from a backup..

I have been doing some reading and have decided to go root my new phone (Xplay in Europe) with zergrush from out of the box. But I have a question:
After rooting my phone and I decide to accept OTA-updates afterwards (without deleting anything), will I lose my rooting, or will it still be rooted?
(Sorry, didn´t realize that I was in the "general" section when I posted. Any mod, feel free to move this to the q&a section.)
You'll lose it.

Thanks for answering.
Is there anything I could do to not be forced to stay on the lowest version?
I guess the OTA will update it to the latest version in one go?
If you root and remove any of the system apps, OTA won't work. And depending on the method you use, if you unlock the bootloader as well, OTA can brick you.

So I guess the right way to go is this (please correct me if I´m wrong):
1. Use Flashtool to get on firmware 2.3.4
2. Use Flashtool to Zergrush
3. Rooted and done.
Is there something I should be aware of in this process?
If i unlock my phone with serial code generated from imei can i install custom roms for my phone?
No.. You need to root your phone first. Read through the different threads before attempting anything so you don't ruin your phone. I would start with the FAQ.

if i root it i can install roms? Will the lock come back?
Sim unlocking is separate from rooting. It's got nothing to do with it.However, unlocking the boot loader does. Many devices require you to unlock your bootloader to install custom firmware after rooting.

Rooting and installing custom ROMs won't affect your sim unlock.

you obviously have no idea what you're saying/doing. i don't recommend you root or unlock your device, at least until you read and understand what you're doing. jumping in headfirst so fast is not a good idea. nobody wants to possibly end up with such an expensive paperweight.
How do I update my bootloader? I can't find any guides when searching these forums.
Just use the search button and type in, Updating bootloader, and you will find it in the threads approximately 32 entries down.

Also, it's in the general section for this phone on the very first page.
