[Q] Load Nandroid backup from one phone to another - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I have an Inc 2 that the sound quit working. It came back briefly, then quit again.
So... I have another Inc 2 now. Can I take the SD card out of the 1st one, put it in the second one, and load the Nandroid backup ? Are there any potential unwanted side effects from that?
Thanks,

Clear cache and dalvik after restore, should be ok.

When I selected backup, it went to the red triangle with the exclamation point. The original phone is rooted. The second one isn't. Is that the issue?

[Q] Help: Did I brick my Incredible?

So i rooted my incredible and tried to install a theme from the ROM manager i think it was called and when it went to reboot it just went to a black screen with a white stripe down each side and now i cant get passed that point even if i hit factory restore in the s-off menu thing. i am very new to this stuff so i am an idiot for just jumping in but if anyone has any ideas on what i could do it would be much appreciated. HTC Incredible on 2.2 rooted.
thanks
Turn your phone off then back on normally. I think someone mentioned once that this happens with newer DINCs i may be wrong but i believe that may help

The newer Incredibles have an SLCD screen, the originals have AMOLED screens. From what I understand, they use different display/touch drivers. Not really a "bug" but I'm sure it bugs a lot of people... Did you just recently get it?

Search is your friend. You have a SLCD screen. Since your phone has different hardware, it requires compatible software.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806734
PM'd cause i cant post links cause im still a noob
If you haven't fixed it yet you can search in the Q&A section for black screen and get instructions for a complete restore to the day you got it. The SLCD thing got me too.

This is exactly my problem...then I reflashed with pb31img. Now all it does is turn the charge light on...
How did you get it fixed.
I don't know if my phone is slcd or amoled....almost sure its AMOLED

Nandroid Backup Help

So I know what a nandroid backup does but I was hoping you guys can help me understand a couple of things better. After you create one, is it always there or just until you restore it? Also, can you backup multiple nandroid backups, and when you're done with one, how do you delete it?

Awesome thank you for explaining. One more question. Do you always wipe data and caches before restoring or does the nandroid restore do it for you?

Since we're all here about Nandroids should they take >30 minutes to do? My Epic always hangs on .android_secure for a huge amount of time before it actually starts backing stuff up or restoring it. That's why I don't do them, in the time it takes to make a backup I can already be restoring my stuff.

You are using CWM 5.0.2.7 right? Because that has a better backup and restore method that takes about half the time of it's predecessors.
Sorry for the newbie question, but how does one perform a "nandroid backup" on their phone? I did a search and figured I should ask in this thread.
I want to flash the latest Sleeper ROM but I've been told to do a nandroid backup first incase I have problems.

i had problems while i was restoring. but i think it is because of having a theme with a mtd rom. but i didn't try a different one. i am back to stock now i have to get my screen to flake out more so i can take it in.
edit: the backup would do the restore process just fine and it booted up but only the backlit keys would be on nothing else would show up. and the back up only took like 3-5 mins tops but i didn't have any apps installed you know one of those flashaholics

yea its a refurb. this is my 4th phone. and this one has been f 'ed from the get go when ever it is on a white screen say like when facebook 1st loads there will be lines that goes across the screen. some times there really bad other time there not even there. I dont get it but I cant take it in till it gets worse because sprint people will be like there is nothing wrong.
Yep white lines sounds like the screen has an issue... if you could get a picture or video or reproduce it at the store then they'll fix it. On what rom did you expierence this though I know sometimes its because the kernels depending on how the defaults are set on voodoo control if of course that rom supports it.

it does it with stock but not as often. but any custom rom its worse. even before mtd. alot of it is when i am using heavy data. my normal is streaming pandora and while on xda and facebook. I know the screen was the worst on miui. it was doing big black lines and then the screen had this greenish yellow tint to it for about 5 mins. thats what made me go back. maybe what i should do is get a custom kernel keep stock take a picture of my phone with my wifes and then go back to stock and walk on in the store.

Touch buttons freezing after root?

Anyone ever get this problem. I noticed after rooting that my screen buttons are freezing every now and again I pretty much have to take my battery out to restart it. My volume and power buttons pneumonia the side still work though. Any thoughts?

Make sure you are properly rooted.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5qb2V5a3JpbS5yb290Y2hlY2siXQ..
If you are, try flashing another rom, or doing a complete system wipe.
That just told me i was rooted, not that my root might be corrupt? Idk. Thanks tho

You should still be able to get into fastboot menu and recovery though through holding volume up and down and then the power button.....
Anyway, glad you back up again.
Was your phone hot? It's possible that safety throttle stuff shut down the phone and waited till it cooled off? I honestly don't know how the throttle craps works.

I have tried many backup apps.
but Titanium backup is confusing for me. I dont know how to use it properly.
if you where charging through your pc with usb cable
then maybe your usb cable wasnt correctly and had giving it a electrical shock
this happens to me a lot when i charge my phone
my pc self is buggy but yeah

Phone keeps rebooting (even in safe mode)

So this is exactly what I did before the problem started happening. I was on version 7/15 and I went to the recovery and flashed the 6/10 version and cleared dalvik and cache and then fix permissions. When I booted up, it acted normal for a few seconds and then it started happening. It would start freezing and then get that and shut off. I flashed 7/15 again and the problem still occurred. I cleared ktweaker data too...

I think it sounds exactly like what was happening to me. I will try to do what you did and remove my SD card next time it happens. I only seem to get that issue when im updating the kernel on Touchwiz ROMS, and on first boot it works ok for like 5 minutes and then the crazy lag, freezing then reboot loops start. From there every boot gets the freezing and lag within a minute of booting up and its either completely freezing up or rebooting itself over and over. The only way i figured i could get over it was doing a full wipe and re install my ROM and everything all over again on a clean install if i wanted to update the kernel. Definately going to try pulling the SD Card and see if that solves my issues next time it happens.

Did you debloat at all? Like delete system apps? I feel there are system level apps that i deleted and the ROM is trying to utilize them but it can't so it reboots. Cause if you look at the last_kmsg there aren't any kernel panics in it.
