Hi all,
Been using the NOTE 2 for 2 months and loving every bit of it. The two problems I encountered so far is:
1. When connected to PC via USB. I am not able to VIEW the photos in Explorer. As in when I right click on VIEW->Large Icons, all i get is the default icon picture (flower thingy) instead of my photos. It is a bit of trouble when you just want to preview and select some photos. I was using HTC HD and don't have such problem. Also I am using Windows 7. Anyone facing the same problem?
2. When I try to drag n drop any file (eg photos) to be attached in an email, I am not able to do so. I need to copy the file(s) to the desktop and then attached it to the mail. I am using Thunderbird email client. Again with my previous HTC HD no such problem.
Would any expert here help me to overcome these 2 problems. Other than that, the NOTE 2 is the best phone I have use so far.
Try changing the USB protocol to MTP.

Yesterday, my friend and I tried to share some music using SBeam, or Android Beam, whatever it's called. I opened up Poweramp, went to the song, and tried to beam it, but that just sent him the app itself. I tried again by opening Solid Explorer and going to the actual folders themselves, but that just beamed the app itself. I then tried using the My Files app Samsung included, but that wouldn't even let us beam anything. We tried the Play Music app too, but that wouldn't beam anything either.
Am I just doing this wrong, or what's going on?

What's your method of selecting the files? Do you look for the files, long press, and and share with S-Beam? That's how I always do it and it's always worked.

My friend just got a lumia 920 (#jealous) and we have been able to trade web pages and contacts via NFC, but we have also read that files are off limits for trading. Do you guys know of any hacks or work arounds for this? If not, will we ever be able to trade files via NFC?

My guess would be you would need to find a file manager that allows you to send the files... but then again, NFC can't possibly be that useful for sharing files more than a MB or two. You'd have to keep the phones very close for an extended period of time to transfer it.
What about looking for an app similar to S-Beam that uses WiFi direct or Bluetooth to transfer the files (S-Beam is a Samsung exclusive and only uses NFC to establish the connection between the two phones and sends the files via an alternate method).
File Expert (Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xcxin.filexpert&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd ) seems capable of this, but I don't know how it would work with a nondroid.
Thats mainly it. Its hard to find similarities among different OSs.

Hi there,
Recently I have started using Microsoft Onenote for my university lectures. And for biology we have to draw a lot of diagrams and my laptop is not a touch screen variant. So I was wondering if there were any apps available that would turn my Note 2 into a tablet peripheral (I think that''s the right term?) This would be very useful for diagrams that I would need to insert into my notes. Thank you

I know it's not the answer your looking for but would you consider downloading a sketchbook type application and drawing what needs to be drawn and then simply sending them to yourself once you get home??

Hey man, thanks for the reply. Yes I could do that I just though it might be easier if it would send automatically. I will try that out though if there are no such apps.

Lol yeah it would be heaps easier to do it to a particular document, but take what you can get I suppose haha

This is not exactly what you need, but perhaps closer:
Use any app to save your drawing as a file, then use dropsync to sync the folder you save drawings in to dropbox, and insert from dropbox on your computer.

Looks promising despite the reviews. Have you had a good experience using it?

Hi guys!
I'm new to this forum and to anything regarding android, and I also feel like an idiot because I recklessly decided to try to update my nexus 7 2013 WiFi to 4.4 by myself.
I'll be brief: I don't know how, I deleted android from my tablet and now when I turn it on I automatically get to TWRP.
If I plug the tablet in to my Macbook (yes, I'm cursing my own name for not having any windows computer to use right now), nothing happens. However, not even windows computers detect it - or, to be more precise, they do detect it but I don't have access to its memory.
I've been trying to re-install android using the sideload command, but each time I get this 'status 7' error, no matter what version of android i try to install.
I'm beginning to be really desperate, can anybody help me out with this?
Thank you!
I can't really help you because it's been a long time since I needed to do any troubleshooting.
But more detail about exactly what you doing trying to side load and what happens might be helpful to others. While there use is controversial, you could try using Wugs toolkit.

Go into fastboot mode and use these: hxxp://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images (can't post direct links, don't have 10 posts yet)
Did you try here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529803
I didn't read the whole thread but it seems to have helped others.

Hey everyone,
Just wondering if I could get some suggestions on good wifi file transfer apps - like my last Samsung I can't for the life of me get this phone to be recognized by Windows. I am rooting and running the awesome Kang AOKP ROM.
WiFi File Explorer is having trouble moving files around - I keep getting network errors on my failed downloads in Chrome on my PC.
Any other more stable app suggestions?
I still can't connect mine either haha
I use Air droid from the market..free and works awesome

I find ES explorer to do pretty much anything I need. Wifi, samba, bluetooth, wifi direct. Also free in the market, and allows root access (su permitting)

Tips for a pleasant XDA:
Search before asking. Someone has likely already asked.
Spell your words completely, and use punctuation. It confuses people when you use "u" and "ur" and "dat", or when you wrongly use "there/their/they're/your/you're".
Be nice. Don't be rude, just move on to another post without leaving a comment. We are not 7 years old.
And PLEASE, do not ask for the "best" anything. We all have our preferences.
Thanks for the suggestions I will check them both out... I already have ES but didn't configure any servers on it. I am having luck with WiFiDroid- another freebee

yeah they are all similar. I find airdroid very fast.. i transfer a 1.4 gig file in about 5 min.

ES Filexplorer is the best.
GUI gets a little wierd at times but it has so many features it can do what your asking.
I actually just discovered pushbullet today it allows for file, picture, text, etc to be pushed from Chrome, or any Android device to another. It even lets you push them to friends phones who have the app as well
