So,
I just want to know, how many of you guys rolled back on stock 4.1.1?
And why ?
Because im thinking to do it... Only real improvement is modificated notif panel, which you can accomplish by using raubk's mods...
And ink effect is, useless (an eye candy, but useless).
So ?
DLL7 has exynos bug patch. ..don't want that ?... you can use a custom kernel though
No problems in 4.1.2. . So why roll back

You can go back to 4.1.1, with Sudden Death and Exynos fix, by seeing this topic,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31986738&postcount=6
Personally I've thought about revert back to 4.1.1 too, but I'm too ignorant to do it, maybe because I like seeing 4.1.2 on my phone
Swyped from my GT-N7100
Better performance and stability with 4.1.2 so im staying
Sv: How many of your rolled back on 4.1.1
Got my phone down to about 0.3%/hour on stand by with 4.1.2 so I'm staying.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Just FYI, battery backup during standby isn't a problem with 4.1.2, it's the battery drainage during usage, ie- the screen on time actually.
On both 4.1.1 and 4.1.2, I used to have 3-4% drain overnight (8-9 hours), so that's not a problem.

(Lost percentage)/hours. Actually it's a little off because over period of 16 hours I lost 5%. But I made a phone call. Listened to music for about 30 minutes. Texted a bit and installed Weather Pro over 3G to check the weather in Barcelona. But basically, the graph goes flat, when I put it in stand by.

did you just flash back? could be building caches and what not so it might be a bit laggy at first. wait a bit and see?
if not, i would probably just reflash from clean wipe.

I would love to help you, but help yourself first: ask a better question
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
just to confirm here, after flashing back to stock did you go to stock recovery and wipe data and cache? If not do so it will clean your phone drive and should not lag. If you've already done that please ignore my suggestion
Some of the rom have a lag which is Stuttering scrolling.
U can overcome some of it by enable force 2d gpu in developer setting but some of it can't be solved like bookmark scrolling in Web browser.
Either u live with it until new update or trade for iphone5 or wp8.

If you have already done a full wipe and nothing really happen, try go into the developer option and turn off all the animation and also force gpu rendering. It should help.
Btw why do you need to change it back to the stock? Going for a warranty? If not just go back to you custom rom which will give you better performance

Thanks for that tip, will turn it off and see how it goes. Will post again in the evening. But generally, it reminds me of older gen phone, like HTC HERO i used to own. Even the Galaxy nexus was faster. I wonder why, this is a quad core and 2 GB ram.

If you turned it off then that was your problem. Noticed how the lower screen brightness is gone now. And also, I don't think the exynos/mali400 A9 SOC is as powerful as everyone makes it out to be. I think Samsung has highly optimized the hardware and software to make it compelling. Can't wait for A15 chipsets to make it to phones though.

One of the best thing about custom roms is that you get all the goodies before the updates that sometimes come months later if at all.For me,when I flash a custom rom on my android device it finally becomes mine.Until then you are literally AT&T/Verizon's etc, etc, etc *****.With all that useless crap on your phone that is forced on you without a choice.I personally like to have full control over what is on my device especially because now a days these "toys" cost as much as my laptop.Again,my personal preference. If anything I would try to talk you into re-rooting.LOL
p.s I am running cleanRom and it is absolutely the bees knees.

Amen. The battery life, at least in my experience, is unquestionably superior on Jedi vs stock, and i fought hardddd to stay stock like constantly diagnosing wake locks and battery usage.
Or you can flash a different kernel

Well...duh...did you honestly expect something better than what you had ? Did you suddenly expect a pushed update from AT&T to offer you a better experiance than those 3 custom roms ? Ease of updates...? I don't get it...Are you actually trying to say relying on a OTA update is easier than actually flashing a new update yourself ? Are you saying waiting and waiting and hoping you get a good ota download and it flashes properly for you..is better than being able to flash and being able to reflash if you actually need it ?
Sorry if I sound rude...but come on...get real would you...You knew the benifits going in and why you rooted it and flashed them..and now you want folks to paint a all rosey picture that a full blown unrooted phone is better than a rooted one running those 3 custom roms...Sorry...it ain't going to happen unless it is coming from someone who didn't install something correctly..or just perfers the bloat and limitations of a stock phone..
If you want & like the stock feel and look...flash Scott's AT&T special edition of his Clean rom..It's debloated..and he has linked to some theming for it..
If you want to go way beyond..wait for Truth's new one out later today or tommorrow..It's fully themed..debloated..has all the latest & greatest available..is fast..and everything works on it..What more could you want...
Personally...I won't ever run a stock phone on purpose after the allowable return time for it..Triangle away has removed the worry of returning it for service..and TWRP has made flashing anything a non issue as well..
It's your phone..run it the way you want to..and be happy..but please don't ask on a developers forum to be convinced to stay on a stock rom..that is just plain lame...IMHO
Mac
I know exactly what you mean and I did feel the same way. Samsung has done an amazing job with this phone. However I have used Jedi, miscoms international roms, cleanrom, now on cleanatt. I have found with a on a custom kernel either persus or the aslyum/note2core. As long as I undervolted and didn't over clock my battery life was a lot better than stock and phone was much quicker and responsive over stock and still had all the great features. We have some awesome devs here for roms and kernels. To me is a very hard choice on what rom to stay on as well as kernel. They are all amazing in there own ways and in my opinion all awesome. I hope no devs flame me I'm just saying they are all very intelligent people at this and I see great things in all there work. AS FOR NOW. I'm on Scotts dedicated at&T. I have took around 40 user and system apps that "I" consider bloat and running persus kernel with the profile zip of 2 offered. My battery life is insane. All day of heavy use and still about 70perecnt left after 8 hours or so. Hope I may have helped you or someone else. I love open source

I have been over clocked to 1800 and above on Jedi and pulled over 2 days off charger with over 8 hours screen time. If you want to stick with stock look, Clean Special build and definitely a kernel. They pull the debugging crap out, optimize voltages, etc. Kernel devs have been working magic...and finding bugs that Sammy, HTC, missed
Edit...patiently waiting for that Blackout later today.

Well...if you want to stay stock...you could try disabling various stock apps that you don't need via settings:app mgr...it's hard to hurt anything and you can always re-able them.
other than that
I think updates are "cleanrom" are pretty easy. Named "clean..." for a reason and I feel like it's stock with added benefits. Have fun deciding.

After a lot of reading and much consideration, I rooted my Note 2 a few days ago.
I can tell you the Custom ROM I decided to use, Jedi X9, is much better than stock, faster, more fluid and tons of extra features.
I over clocked the note to 1800 MHz using ROM Toolbox Pro.
The Quadrant scores went up to 7700 from 6300 stock. Antutu Bench Mark went to 19300 from 18100.
With 4.1.2 update, you get to have the posted notes in the Calendar.
With the custom ROM you get 23 Toggles, more menus and settings you can change.
You can do Multi Windows any APK and also have the Transparent Multi-Windows.
The browser is lots faster.
I also was able to delete the stock Youtube and install the custom Youtube APK that lets you play full
720p videos.
Lots more things to mention.
Best part is everything works and no hick ups what so ever.
So if that is what is stoping you, take it from me, it works 150 percent better than stock.
And if you do not like it, you can go back to stock and leave no trace like if nothing ever happened.
Hope that helps you some :good:.

I've been sticking with ICS on my at&t s3 since I updated to jellybean on kies and had to revert back via Odin. Reason being is because after I updated my phone kept dropping data and the battery which usually lasted 14 hours lasted only 6 hours.
My question is if the OTA update has fixed any of the bugs. Also, do I really need to update to jellybean? I'm curious on what I'm missing but I am also reading about all of the bugs.
I am full stock ics right now.

I had updated via kies and I never experienced the issues you stated. It ran pretty smooth. Battery life didn't seem to be affected to much for me.
Only thing you are really missing out in is Smoother Interface Transitions, Google Now, Improved Voice Search (pretty much comparable to Siri), Improved Notification Bar (with expandable notifications) and some other UI improvements. See this link for more info: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_version_history
Its possible your first upgrade was a bad flash.

Yeah I thought about that and then my second child was born so everything that wasn't on the main burner got put on hold so I never got back to updating it again truth be told. When I got the pop up from at&t about the OTA I Google searched and found that its about 50/50 for those that have problems and those who don't.
If and when I do update should I factory reset my phone before or after?
Thank you

My question is if the OTA update has fixed any of the bugs. Also, do I really need to update to jellybean? I'm curious on what I'm missing but I am also reading about all of the bugs.
I am full stock ics right now.
Thank you
AJ

So far my experience has been similar to yours as for the battery life. I was getting 14+ hours on stock ICS after calibrating but after I tried calibrating Jellybean I maxed out at 6-7 hours.
I heard that there is a bug where if the SD card is installed it drains the battery.
Try removing the sd card and then reflash the Rom and root then calibrate.
Also it might take a clean flash without the sd card in to make the battery better in jelly bean. Wipe data/factory reset and then, if using Odin to flash 4.1.1, enter download mode (volume down + Home button + power button).
To answer your question about the bugs, battery life, no they aren't fixed but they can be worked around. I'm getting 16 hours on jelly bean right now.
Here is a link to the calibration app:

Here is a link to rooting the phone faster: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2042775
Good luck and please hit thanks!

Okay guys.. I'm really curious to find out why so many people are having the large amounts of issues with the the TouchWiz 4.3 roms.. so here's what I want to know.
Did you sideload/take the official 4.3 update zip, upgrading to the KNOX bootloader.
If you took the update, are you having any issues flashing the roms via TWRP, or do you have to use another (CWM..Philz..)
If you DIDN'T take the the 4.3 update zip, and you're flashing these 4.3 roms are you having MMS issues, FC's and what not?
Same as above, if you DIDN'T take the 4.3 update zip, do you run into errors trying to flash via TWRP.
Thanks, just trying to figure out some things.
Edit: I took the official 4.3 OTA, am running synergy R3 with absolutely zero issue. 12-13 hours of battery life with about 6 hours of screen on time, forcing OC of 1.6ghz, max brightness etc. My MMS works 100% of the time, and the only thing that FC's is Terraria, because it hates life after the christmas update. What I'm trying to figure out here, is if it's better or not to take the 4.3 KNOX bootloader.
I took the update which blocked all my stuff I wanted to do so I flashed back to stock via twrp because the knox bootloader blocked me from flashing with odin. Then I flashed lorjay rom with out the knox bootloader I had a few problems I had to fix but I got it dialed in good now.

I gave synergy a try, but it seemed to have problems with accounts of over 100 contacts (with contact fix). I probably could have worked it out, but I didn't see any noticeable battery life, signal strength or speed improvements over the (now defunct) Goodness Noteworthy I was running. I did notice all the missing theme and style improvements. After a couple of days, I went back. Maybe someone will come up with a MK4 based rom with the "toys" I've become accustomed to? At this point, I'm not overly optimistic.
I haven't taken the OTA 4.3 update or flashed it either. The main reason is some apps I use a lot aren't working yet with it such as WiFi Tether and FolderMount (I think this may be working now). And for what is gained from update, is not worth it to me for what it will cost.
Also synergy r3 and auto reboot from time to time. I am going to try latest CM11 when I have time...
I have not flashed to 4.3 and until I can see any advantage at all I won't.
I bypassed 4.3 Twiz and am already running 4.4.2

Camera works just fine for me. Takes multiple pics and they come out great and MMS is a non issue. Cm11 is freaking fantastic with plasma overclocked to 2ghz and using ART in developer options makes this thing fly like I've never seen! Battery life is great too. I see absolutely no reason to ever turn back.

Does mhl cable to tv work on there. That's the only thing I had issuses with in the past and I stream movies from my phone to TV daily.

To each his own, I enjoy the ability to have a true HDR mode, and multiple options instead of just white balance and a handful of non useful options.

Sorry if I came off the wrong way. But with plasma there are tons of hdr options anyway plus cool color options for your display. But like you said to each his own.
