Hello Guys,
I have the one V and a buddy just recieved one. I got the one V when it first came to Virgin so there was no update for it. I know that an update for the V came out and causes problems when rooting and installing ROMs. I am looking to root my buddy's phone but it has been a while since I did mine, what version RUU or Radio version does the HTC need in order to root and install ROM without problems?
Sprint RUU, radio version .521.

Hi all,
Since the last OTA created plenty of problems to debranded Orange owners, I just wanted to let everybody know that I did install the OTA and did not find any problem so far.... everything went smoothly in updating OTA from the latest RUU update. No need for gold cards or complicated procedures

Can I ask which method did you use to originally debrand your phone? Which rome did you flash to?
The 405 RUU that had been posted around may on these forums... see here for a full list:

Very easy, all you need is to make a gold card. Things get slightly more messy if you are not a Windows user.

for my own device :
It was Orange France 1.22 ROM;
I rooted my device with UnrEVOked;
Then I use the downgrade method that uses fake ROM version reporting to RUU;
Installed full Europe_1.15 HTC ROM;
And install all OTA updates, as when asked.
Note : I alway have my gold card in it, and I never got any trouble.
Thanks. I dont want to root my phone just debrand it to receive OTA`s directly from HTc and not wait for carrier specific.
Question: is it safer to flash it to 1.15 and then do OTA to 1.21 and Froyo or flash directly with 1.21?
Directly 1.21, if I did not screw up version numbers it was the jump from 1.15 to 1.21 that created the problem when done in OTA (WiFi module could not be loaded correctly)

ql. did you have to have your goldcard in while doing the FROYO update?

Hi Guys,
I recently rooted and put a custom froyo 2.2 rom onto my HTC Desire. In the process i must of lost the backup of the original rom that shipped with the phone. The phone was bought with Vodafone Ireland and the baseband is 32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04 . Im not sure but the guide i used to update my phone advised updating the radio (which i think is the same as the baseband). What i want to do is to download an original 2.1 (or 2.2) Rom so i can update to froyo the offical way. Basically the rom i currently have is buggy and i wanted to upgrade/downgrade to 2.1. I dont know what i need to do with my radio version or what difference it makes.
So my questions are:
1. Can someone link me a place i can download original HTC Desire Rom 2.1 so i can restore my phone to normal and upgrade to 2.2 through offical OTA?
2. What difference does the radio make? Why do i need to update that when i install a rom?
Thanks
oh and also if i put the original rom on it does that undo the rooting? Basically i want a stable version of 2.2 that i will be able to recieve updates in the future through offical methods (OTA)
i need this too
Look in the development section, there you can find RUU's those are original roms.
If u get an original ruu and follow instructions to install Froyo will be available for its system update. This includes an updated radio.

Thanks, Does this get rid of rooting? and do i need to pick a RUU that has the same radio as mine?
this "Updates" your desire, making completely stock like, from what i know you have to choose what fits you phone, if it's Hboot .80 or that other one...
it will lock your recovery too...
hey sorry about all my noob questions but i tried the following page before
"HTC Desire > Desire Android Development > [ROM] Official HTC Desire RUU ROMS and OTA Update URL"
and any of the ones i tried dont seem to work. Is it someting to do with the fact that none of them are the same radio as mine?
Im guessing i should be trying the gsm ones. i tried to install some of the zips through rom manager from GSM HTC OTA Update URLs but they failed.
by "lock" do you mean that i will never be able to recover again and ya my hboot is .80
guys,
Can someone please help with this, im really stuck.
Thanks
Hi everyone, this is my first post, I bought my friends desire z, and found out that it has eng hboot and s-off.
So I flashed the official 1.34.707.3 ruu found in one of the threads thinking that it would restore it to stock with s-on.
Eng hboot is gone but I still have s-off. The thing is the phone is not prompting me for an OTA, even by manually checking for it in the about phone setting.
Will s-off prevent me from receiving ota? I was thinking it should immediately prompt me for an update seeing that the latest firmware is 1.82...
Please help thanks.
Download the ruu.exe ,or ota in lucky .

Even after flashing the RUU from HTC I still have s-off... I was not the one who rooted the device, It was like that when I bought it from my friend.
My biggest problem is that the phone cannot find the update which I think it should, seeing that the firmware is several months old and that a few updates have already rolled out. In other words, a 1.34 firmware should immediately find an update to a higher version.
Could there be a compatibility problem as I do not know the original rom that the phone came with and I just chose a WWE asian firmware since I am from the Philippines.
Amazing!! Ever heard of google? Or asking what original firmware is or rom? Heard of htc support?
Sheesh

Hi guys,
I got a Desire HD from Vodafone australia, currently voda is rolling out the Gingerbread update.
When I first got my phone I rooted s-off'd and all that and loaded cyanogenmod.
All in all it started having issues so I installed an RUU of the 1.72.405.3 generic. Originally it had 1.32 voda branded rom on it. Now everytime I go to check for updates there doesn't seem to be any.
All my friends desire hds have got the update but mine. So I am wondering if anyone else with the 1.72 from has received the update and or if I will get it due to not using the original rom.
try installing the original voda RUU. then update
Why don't you update to 2.3 with an ruu file, the file has been out there for a while. (not on the PC or I would provide you a link)

If your phone is running a stock 1.72 rom then i'd say yes you'll get the OTA update, but since you've got S-OFF i'm not 100% sure.
I'd suggest you just use the Gingerbread RUU in the development section
I'm having the same problem. Vodafone Australia phone. But used gold card to put unbranded 1.32.405.6 on. I haven't been able to get the OTA update to apply, just says I'm already up to date.
Edit: I tried booting up the phone with the SD card I used as my gold card. Didn't work either.
Had my One x since a couple of weeks after it came out, best phone i've had yet. but i'm on a three branded phone, should of got an unbranded one off amazon i know. Since 3 are useless at giving out updates, i want to root my phone, which i know i can do as i had a desire HD rooted this and swapped roms about once a week.
What i want to know is if i can put the latest rru or ota 1.29.401.12 on with S-lock on so i can have the latest htc firmware on my one x and solve all the problems like loss of single and the storage issue?
Thanks
Fraid not, until we get s-off you have to use correct ruu.
You can always use a custom Rom based on the latest release

thats what i thought, so rooted and put arhd 8.1.0 on newer than the ota's. hopefully will be better battery life and solve the memory issues. Nearly as easy as a Derire HD to root.
