Factory reset on dixperia everlasting - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, can i factory reset on this rom? I'm running doom kernel with 2.3.4 , so my question is if i can do this or the rom will get stucked ..
Inviato dal mio Galaxy Nexus con Tapatalk 2

You can do a factory reset but I don't recommend that because if you did that, all tweaks/mods that the developer have done them or put them into his ROM will be wiped and the ROM will be just like stock.
If you need to do a factroy reset then reflash the ROM through recovery.

If you do a factory reset on a custom rom you will bootloop. Use flashtool to do a clean install of stock firmware.

OMFG what are you guys saying? Factory reset is just wiping data/cache/dalvik. It does not touch system partition of course you can do this but the ROM will be totally clean. You will lose all your apps, text messages, but the system and sd-card will remain untouched.

Dixperia has a lot of addons which replaces the system apps. Yes you can get a bootloop.

Nope. I used Dixperia before and I did a factory reset when I was using it and I didn't get bootloop, but as I said tweaks will be wiped.

Can I get more info, like which rom did you flash, and how did you root your phone, what process did you take? Did you do wipes prior to flashing. Thanks, will try to help you out.
Go back into recovery and flash your backup or use Odin to flash a stock rom, your just in a bootloop. You mustve flashed a bad download.

Seanster_GBaxe EX v1.4.1:Taste of ICS is the rom... pretty much used odin to install cwm base recovery 5.0.2.6 I dont think i wipe prior to flashing. Once I installed the rom it booted fine but everything was slow and my phone kept getting errors, so then i went back in cwm and wiped all the data, now when i try to install the rom again it just takes like 5 seconds to install, i reboot the phone but it keeps going into a loop.... at this point i am pretty lost. I am new to this stuff... :/
How do i download this rom/kernel/mod........
Oh thats right its in the wrong section ah thats it no wonder i couldnt figure it out (sarcasm)

On a more helpful note just wipe and reflash another rom or a backup if you have it, if that fails odin to the stock rooted rom.

I did that and still in a bootloop
Did you goninto recovery and wipe cache dalvik and permissions. Or even better just factory reset after installing stock rom. Odin to stock doesnt faxtory reset your phone. Old files could still be lingering in there.

i did that and the same thing is happening, this blows
Try redownloading the rom, then in recovery make sure you are A. Wipe Factory Data Reset, B. Wipe Cache, C. Advanced Menu Wipe Dalvik D. Advanced Menu Wipe Battery Stats, E. Mounts/Storage Format Cache, System, Boot, Emmc, Then flash the Rom.
Silly question but are you installing 1.4 before flashing 1.4.1? Cause I think that ROM needs the 1.4 full flashed prior to flashing 1.4.1.

can you give me a link to a stock ROM? the one i am using is SGH-T989-Stock-UVKID
so then I do what you just told me
A. Wipe Factory Data Reset, B. Wipe Cache, C. Advanced Menu Wipe Dalvik D. Advanced Menu Wipe Battery Stats, E. Mounts/Storage Format Cache, System, Boot, Emmc,
Then flash the Rom - Go into Odin and Select the file(click pda), then click start - correct?
Follow this to get to stock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462870
if phone isnt stock and you still have files there then do factory reset from phone or stock recovery.

[Q] CM7 stuck on FreeXperia logo

Don't understand why..
I flashed the boot.img included in the zip via fastboot
then i went into recovery and installed FXPCM7
rebooted
Stuck on FreeXperia logo for 30mins.
Whats going on?
After you flash the kernel boot into recovery...
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
then go into advanced then wipe dalvik cache
Then flash the CM7.zip
Let me know how it goes - good luck
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- advance > dalvik cache
install FXPCM7
tried it, still stuck on FreeXperia logo
do i need to be on stock when installing it?
I am currently on the enhanced v2 firmware with doom kernel..
update:
tried stock too, doesnt work..
Hm try this
Redownload CM7
using flash tool flash this FTF - It has the newest baseband and largest user partiton
flash the kernel that came with CM7
Enter recovery and..
> factory reset
> wipe cache partiton
go into advanced and
>clear dalvik cache
Then install the CM7 zip from sd-card let me know how it goes
Thanks, but that was the firmware i was on.
I tried that method twice but the same thing kept happening to me
stuck at FreeXperia logo
Just to check if the problem is specific only to CM7 rom itself try installing another rom like Gin2Jellybean - Good luck
I have used various ROMS (all working perfectly) such as:
Gin2ICS/JellyBean
xDarkICS 4.0.3
Xperia NXT
JokaWild
Advanced Stock
So I think it may be just a problem with CM7?
Oh that's strange, try to download it again or try another build from here
tried the stable build now.. same problem :/
EDIT:
Tried flashing doom kernal, this time it actually boots.. touch screen doesnt work but it boots..
Is there another kernal i can use that works?
help please? would love to get cm7

I finally figured out how to do it. Go in CWM and delete user data, dalvik cache, cache, and then go to the Mounts and Storage menu, and Format the System Partition. Make sure not to clear the SD partition on accident. Anyways, this is the only way I could get it to work

Isnt the topic of this thread helping the op to get cm7 working on his phone? And you're talking about the circle button.

problems flashing roms, big problems.

I don't know what caused it... but no matter what rom I flash it seems that it always gets through the bootup screens and then gets stuck on the samsung screen, and won't load into a custom rom. It seems like something happened to my system and I have tried everything and nothing it working. I can only run with the stock rom it came with and thats it.
I have no clue whats going on. When I flash from ROM to ROM I take these steps.
1- put rom on SD card
2- nandroid
3- factory wipe from recovery
4- wipe cache
5- wipe dalvik
6- flash rom
7- flash gapps (if on AOSP based)
8- reboot.
I have went back to stock via odin, then reflashed via odin, repushed the recovery, basically started from scratch and nothing is letting me install a new rom. Wasn't really having any problems until today... any ideas? :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
edit- I was thinking, I did ALOT of debloating at the beginning using the aroma debloater, and did some minor debloating myself.. I wouldn't think this would have anything to do with a new rom because when I wipe everything it does a fresh install of everything... So I am stuck.

Yes. Although if you're updating a rom i.e. cm or aokp a cache/dalvik cache wipe will do (unless stated otherwise).

see my main thing was everyone was talking about how if I was going from a modded stock rom to a modded stock rom there would not need anything except cache wipes... and i still get hung..:/
I recommended backing up all of your data, do a factory reset, then go back to stock with an Odin package from development. From there you can root or whatever you please.

[Q] Wiping Defy for sale and keeping CM9

I'm planning to sale my Defy, keeping it with CM9. I guess to wipe it before saling I should boot into recovery and select wipe, right? Or is there anything else I need to do?
Thanks,
You also do Backup and reset and then factory reset
I don't want a Tapatalk sig!
But won't the factory reset erase CM?

A factory reset, as far as I know, only erases Data and Cache partitions. It leaves your System partition alone, as well as all your files stored on SD card (re-formatting it gets rid of those).
Your phone will still be rooted afterwards, but reset to its original state app-wise.
