Hey guys, just picked up this bad boy, nice device. Problem is the wireless charging doesn't seem to be activating on any of my qi chargers ( 2 Nexus Orbs and one LG W300) Can someone test for me?

Current situation,

1 Nexus 7 2013
1 Nexus 4,
1 Galaxy S4, (with Qi wireless adapter installed)
As the OP states, I could not get my Nexus 7 2013 to charge on 2 different Nexus Orbs, and 1 Lg W300 noting that both my Nexus 4 and S4 work flawlessly. I figured that I had a bad luck of the draw. Get up this morning and decide to press my luck and see if the local WalMart still had one in stock. Don't bother trying to call that store here, never an answer at the electronics dept. Showed up and low and behold, they still had two, Yes!!!
Got home went through the painless motion of setting it up, let me go drop it on the charger (LG W300) No luck... I take out cord and converter, thinking... maybe its a pin issue, Nope. No go, take one of the orbs out of my car, go through due diligent of OEM cord and converter, still no go.
Either I have the worst luck in the world, Walmart has received a bad batch or/and there is an issue with the Qi charging on the device, I am open to any ideas you guys have.
Mine works on my lg w300 and my Panasonic tm101.

Did you try slowly shifting the qi chargers position around the N7? Remember that the coil is only about 2" in diameter so it would be easy to miss. That is my I like the Panasonic tm101 because the coil is motorized and moves to the device

Sadly, on all them, not very happy about it. I know they will be sold out when I make it back.

I haven't received my pre ordered one yet, but thanks for the info. since the new nexus 7 is my first wireless charging capable device, I was searching for a good charging pad. I just ordered tm101 from amazon.

The tm101 is great. Just note that it won't keep the charged topped up. At least mine doesn't. After it hits 100% the coil moves back to its home position and will ignore the device until it is removed and replaced.
This is why it isn't my main charger for my phone (a nexus 4, I use the lg wcp-300 for that most of the time) but I think it is perfect for my nexus 7.

LG is too small for nexus7. and you are not supposed to leave your device on charger when the battery is fully charged anyway. Thanks again

I agree that the lg is too small for the n7 but as to not leaving your device on the charger... It won't harm anything, for most chargers it will switch to some form of trickle charging where it will stop charging altogether after hitting 100% and 'scan' the device state at certain intervals (usually every ~10min)to see if it has dropped below some interval.
Works absolutely perfectly with the Nexus 4 wireless Charger. Just have to have the tablet in landscape orientation.

Mine isn't working either on my fasttech charger. Been trying with all position possible, sliding it all around, I can feel the magnetic pull but no charge. Put my N4 on, works right away. Not sure if it's just incompatibility or bad unit.

I had the same problem. My Nexus 4 works perfectly with the WCP-300 charger, but the Nexus 7-2 wouldn't charge at all with either of my two WCP-300 chargers. This morning I exchanged the N7-2 at Best Buy and the wireless charging now works. The WCP-charger is a little tricky, perhaps due to it's small size. For example, the charger must contact the center of the device, and you have to set the charger there for a second or two before it starts charging. My N4, on the other hand, starts charging as soon as I place it on the charger. Actually, the WCP-300 charger works nicely because the N7-2 balances perfected while charging. So as long as I place the device so it balances on the small charger, it starts charging.
Anyway, I had some awesome luck at Best Buy because someone called to cancel their Chromecast order while I was completing the N7-2 exchange. A rep brought the Chromecast from the back and I asked if I could buy it. They also sent me a code for the 3 free months of Netflix.
Perhaps you have bad luck. I can confirm my first N7-2 device didn't work, so there must be more out there. Try centering the WCP-300 and holding it there for a few seconds. If that doesn't work, I would try for another exchange.

Swapped mine out at BestBuy today and wireless charging works flawlessly now. Made them open it up and test it before I left the store (brought Nexus 4 Charging Orb with me).
I tried my charger for the first time last night and as soon as I plugged it in, it immediately began getting quite warm and emitted quite the loud buzzing sound.
Is there any way I can get my charger replaced without having to return the whole tablet?
Some chargers buzz once its fully charged. Don't know why but its annoying.
My iPod chargers don't do this. Neither do most of my chargers. I am using a white Chinese cheapo that is buzzing. I haven't used the official charger because I keep the accessories wrapped up in new condition since its easier to sell that way.
Could just be a cheap charger or defective. Easier to just pick up another one from somewhere. At my house I have multiple devices using the OG Nexus 7 2.1A charger.

that's just peak charging current, you'll be fine
I own a N7 2012 and hated its short and stiff cable.
If I use other cables, it won't charge as fast or at all.
Does N7 2013 has the same problem?
Not a nexus problem anyway. The cable and charger declare themselves as high current - or they don't. If you use a charger and cable that don't meet that standard, you will be limited to 500ma. A lot of cheap Chinese cables can't carry more than 500ma anyway. Cut them in half - you won't see any copper.

My 2012 N7 DESTROYED microUSB connectors. It would bend the catches down in the cable connector. It worked fine at first, but after a few days of using it, the cable wouldn't stay in because it had pushed the spring loaded clasp down to the point it wouldn't come up. Also, why does Asus put the connectors upside down from EVERY OTHER MANUFACTURER? So annoying. I was trying to make a bluetooth speaker with a charging dock in it, but I can't use my N4, GS3 AND Nexus 7 because the N4 and GS3 have the port oriented one way, and the Nexus 7 is oriented the other way.
Part of the problem is that iphone/ipad chargers don't require the same configuration to be in a high-amp charge state, whereas micro-USB requires the proper connections to be in the proper charge state. I have some chargers for iphone/ipad that will not even show charging for Nexus 7 2012. Original Apple or not.
What is a good app to monitor the output from my charger? Or does stock have a built in feature? I feel like my Nexus 7 charges REALLY slow. I just dropped 10% while playing a game and charging for about 40 minutes, maybe that is normal? I may just be spoiled because of a certain other tablet that charges quit quickly.

Because of the nature of how devices charge, measuring the current via an app is very unreliable. The only app I have found that works at all on the 2012 nexus was https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.promethyl.batterychargingsourcecurrent . Not sure if it works on 2013, but its free

I've always wondered this. It's quite odd.
To answer the question, absolutely not. It is a charge whore just like my Galaxy Nexus. I've used iPhone chargers at 500ma all the way up to 2.1A chargers. The N7 was picky but the new one is not. It even charges off my car charger now which the first one would never accept... even after I modded it to do a fast charge on my Galaxy Nexus.
So yea, I haven't found one USB charger that it wouldn't gobble up.

As long as it is designed for the Qi standard it should work. I have a LG WCP-300 and I used it to charge the Nexus 7 I bought for a friend. It worked fine, but since it's so small the tablet was poorly balanced on it. That charger is at some Verizon stores for $40 + tax, and Verizon online for the same price with free shipping. The WCP-300 comes with it's own power supply.
I have seen good reviews for the new Samsung wireless charger, it's $50, but it may still be available for half off. You'll need to get a separate power supply, but I think it probably needs to be 1.8 or 2 amp output. It's also larger, so the tablet won't tend to rock or slip off as easily on the LG charger.
You can see threads on both of those qi chargers over on the Nexus 4 accessories threads.

the nexus orb has been great with the 7. my 4 will slide of frequently but I've had no problems with the 7
I bought the Samsung charger with 50% off coupon and so far, it works with original nexus(2 amp) plug, 2013 Nexus(1.35 amp) plug, iphone 4s/5 plug(don't know what amp).
I like that I can lay the Nexus down cross ways to see the charging indicator led come on, also works with i-blason folio case on the Nexus.
So I lay it down to see the led come on, hear the little tone from Nexus telling me that's it's charging, I close the magnetic cover and turns the screen off. I wake up next morning and it was fully charged from ~20%.
So, I'd say the Samsung charger with 50% off coupon is worth it. I think they are backordered right now though.
Any Qi charger should work. The Samsung 50% off deal is nice bout out of stock.
I JUST FOUND THIS, AT&T has the Nokia DT-900 at half off currently. That's $24.50 plus tax.

I have read that the Panasonic TM-101 will stop charging once you device reaches 100% then not touch it again to keep up the charge as the phones drains in sleep mode. Something that most other chargers do. That would just bug me.
Even though it cool, I'll be satisfied with the Nokia DT-900 I paid $25 for, and eill keep my device topped off.
Looks like you already made your choice, but I was going to put in another vote for the Panasonic TM101.
I also have a Nokia DT-900, which looks nice and is compact. The only problem is that the Nexus 7 is large compared to the charging plate, and it'll take a bit of practice to perfectly center your tablet onto the charging plate when you can't really see the charging plate under the tablet.
The Panasonic one, as you've probably read by now, automagically positions the charging coil via motors to line it up with your device. The coils light up when they move, so you can visibly see the charging coils as they center behind your Nexus 7. You can hear the motors working, but it's only about as loud as a quiet inkjet printer, so it doesn't really bug me at all.
As far as cases are concerned, you should be fine as long as the case isn't made of metal, and as long as the case isn't too thick. After experimenting a bit with placing a magazine between my N7 and the charging plate, you can get away with about 1/4" of space and still be able to charge.
Also, if you put two devices on the Panasonic, it will charge one and then move over and charge the second. I also read - somewhere - that when one of them drops down to 90%, it will charge again. Unproven by me, since my tablet is always fully charged when I pick it up. Loving it - neatest gadget I have bought in a long time.

I'm not sure what your talking about. I just roughly center my N7 on the Nokia DT-900 and it charges. I'd have to be grossly off for it not to charge. As long as I'm placing my N7 on the charger and not tossing from 2 feek away it works flawlessly. Something must be wrong with either your N7 or your charger.

If that's true, that sounds great. But read or saw a video review that said the opposite. I don't own the Panasonic TM-101, so I don't know which is correct. Maybe someone who has first hand knowledge can chime in.
Just thought I would mention that the Panasonic QE-TM101-K Black Qi Wireless Charger Pad does not work with the Nexus 5. Originally got it for the Nexus 4 back in March, hoped it would work with the N5.
Works for me. It turns on, the charger coil moves and the phone makes a sound and it's charging.
I think your using it wrong snoman
