My wifi is behind a university http proxy. I have modified the wifi connection in my Galaxy Nexus (4.2.1) to use the appropriate proxy settings.
Now, browser and most apps work fine, but there is a problem with the youtube app. I can search for videos, see comments, but the videos don't stream for some reason. Youtube video streaming works fine on my macbook on the same wifi connection.
Apart from youtube videos, instagram and viber seem to also not use the proxy settings.
Any ideas what could be wrong here?

Hi,
Does anyone of you in NYC with cingular medianet Max Unlimited plan able to connect to m.youtube.com without getting "failed to connect network" error message?
It seems to me that Cingular has blocked the ports that streaming video are using? I am using Wifi without any problem.
Does anyone has a clue?
Thank you.
There's no streaming video on m.youtube.com... just some links to movies in 3gp...
I know in Media Net's WAP settings there is a proxy setting---try removing the proxy setting. I know without the proxy setting in place---you cannot access Cingualar's MediaNet page/videos.
I use PDA Net plan --- Could not get MediaNet to work on 3G at the time (also in NY).

Setup 2 profiles on phone. One for MediaNet (includes proxy settings) & another, e.g., ISP, not using proxy. MediaNet connection will work with many sites, but not streaming video or audio.
When you want to go to a site, like youtube or video streaming music, use your ISP profile. Do a search on forum & you'll find a Custel progy for switching between proxy & non-proxy.
If that doesn't work, reply here, as there might be a reg setting that needs to be changed.

I tried to change it that it stream it over my wifi connection but doesnt work. Under Options i can choose o2mms, o2internet, work, secure Wap etc. But nothing really worked.

Hi,
i can't connect to any web site using the internet browser or any of the alternative i've tryed (dolphin, skyfire, opera...)
It works fine in wifi but as soon as i switch to data, i can't surf. All apps works fine, ebay, facebook, it only happens when trying to access a web page.
I'm using leedroid but i don't think it's related. I've tryed a full wipe and it's working. So my guess is some settings are messed up.
Is there a way to clear all web browsers data instead of full wipe ?
Thanks.
Nevermind, I've just reset dolphin settings to default and it works.
Hi, i have the same problem and i found this thread but i dont want to do a full reset of the phone.
I have the original ROM and i had been using the internet browser and apps without problem, also with WiFi, Internet passthrough and with 3G.
But 3 days ago after been navigating with Internet passthrough from my PC, then i couldnt use anymore the Internet Browser with 3G. The rare thing is that i can use all the other apps using internet 3G, like Tapatalk, Facebook, Weather...
I tryed different thins lika a "task killer" app, "restart" the phone, check the "Settings" in the Browser for any proxy configuration, then i "reset to default" the Browser configuration... but nothing works.
I have to add that is i use WiFi or Internet Passthrough conection, the Internet Browser works great, but only doesnt with 3G conection.
I would appreciate any advice, thanks in advance.
Well, problem solved. It seems to be that there is something in the configuration of my APN that allows to works without problems the apps, but not the internet browsers (default browser and dolphin). After some changes (i really dont know wich was the change that solved the problem), the browsers start to work fine.
Hello to all,
Does anyone know of an application or service that allows you to take videos from your home computer and allow you to stream those videos on an android device without having to be connected to the same wifi network?
I've searched around, and the only options that I've been able to find are those such as Skifta, TVserity, etc where you NEED to be connected to the same wifi network as the pc with the files. Those options work wonderfully.
However I'm looking for something more similar to Google Music where you upload your music, and are then able to access your music anywhere, through the carrier network or through another network
Basically, I'd like to be able to watch (stream) the videos I have on my computer anywhere that I go, without having to fill up the memory on my phone
Any ideas?

I currently use TVersity. There is an option in the settings to assign a username and password so you can access the media server outside of the network.
Once you have set a username and password, you can watch the media on your server through a flash interface. To access your server you would type in the <your ip address>:<chosen port>/flashlib from a browser.
Another option if you do not have a static ip is to setup a service like dyndns so you have an easy to remember address such as <chosen name>.dyndns.tv:<chosen port>.
Hope this helps.

I am guessing this has to do something with the fact that streaming is not done via HTTP, therefore it is not using the wifi http proxy settings. But I could be totally wrong. Any ideas what could be causing this problem?
