Cannot do a factory reset - HTC One X

I don´t know why but when I try to do a battery reset nothing happens. I go do "Backup and reset", "Reset Phone" and click on "Reset Phone". Then if tells me that all my personal info will be erased and that this cannot be reversed, blah, blah...I click on ok and nothing happens. I have only 10% battery but the phone is plugged to the charger charging.
Can I do a factory reset using htc sync manager? What other options do I have?

You want to do a battery reset ? What do whant to achieve ? If you want to wipe the batt stats because you think it is displayed wrong you can wipe the batt stats in the recovery (custom one if you have)
And if you are still on the stock rom you can perform a factory reset from the bootloader !
If you are on a custom rom you can not do a factory reset because it will bring you in a bootloop, then you have to reflash the rom

Why opening multiple threads within 20 minutes.

It was a batt restriction after all. I guess that if you´re lower than 10% it won´t let you reset the phone even if you´re plugged in.

So, if I want to do a factory reset I have to go back full stock (ROM and recovery?) And then go to the bootloader and choose it from there?

Yes can always perform a factory reset but only when you are on the stock rom. A custom rom will get wiped so the phone doesn't boot anymore.

Yes.. If you have any custom rom problems... use custom recovery to wipe data/cache/dalvic and then reflash the boot.img and rom!

APN list blank [ARHD 8.1.0, Android 4.0.4]

Hi,
I have recently updated my phone to ARHD 8.1.0 (ICS 4.0.4) however my APN list is blank and I can't get 3g or a data connection. I still have cell coverage just no data connection. I have tried re-flashing to a previous radio and that didn't do anything. If anyone can help me sort out my APN list, whether it is a permissions thing or maybe I have to bite the bullet and re-flash to a previous rom with ICS 4.0.3 (last resort) because I am loving the speed and smoothness of ARHD 8.1.0. And I have tried to simply add the APNs again, the list continues to stay blank.
Thanks guys!
bump, anyone know?
Go into recovery and do a full wipe, re-download the boot image and ARHD rom and flash.

Okay I will try that, so a full wipe? I have done a superwipe and re-flash 3 times. But will try it again, might get lucky. Cheers mate.
Did you do a restore of any kind? Titanium backup restores including system data seem to mess with many sense settings.

No luck mate, that didn't work. Might just bite the bullet and wait till the full release.

Yeah I do titanium backup restores, however I currently have no data on my phone because I just did a full reset and wipe, and still my APN list is blank and I can't add any. Must be some sort of bug... Not sure.

Did you try manually re-adding them even after a clean wipe with no restore? Did you clear all caches? Davlik and normal. There shouldn't be a glitch if you are starting from scratch especially if it worked on the stock rom before.

Also, when you say wipe, do you mean reflashing the rom or just a wipe from inside the rom?

Super wipe and wipe data from CWM Recovery, cleared all the caches yes. Stock rom it was fine on 4.0.3, but since i've gone to 4.0.4 I have lost the APN list. And of course I have tried re-adding them, it still stays blank. Really annoying...
Managed to find a bit of a fix, every time I would save an APN with the MNC set at 02 the list would be blank, but if I left it at 029 it would save. My APN seems to work with 029 but it is meant to use 02. Not to worry, least it is working. Thanks for everything guys!

AT&T GSlll stuck at Cyanogen boot

new to rooting, flashing, etc.
Tried flashing CyanogenMod 6, I believe, using ROM Manager app. I downloaded the ROM to SD card and followed instructions to install. Now it's been stuck booting for an hour. I tried taking the battery out and going into recovery but it just gets stuck at the Odin screen with 'do not turn off target' message.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks everyone.

I'm not sure what version I attempted to install. It could've been CM9/10...
I did root the phone prior to doing all of this. I did as you suggested: go into recover and wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik and fix permissions and when I reboot the phone, the Samsung logo pops up and vibrates, then nothing. I keep having to take out the battery to restart.

I downloaded the file to my desktop and when I use Odin to load, it cannot find the file type. I think it has to be a .tar file.
Thanks
Flash the rom twice, then see if that works.
Usually in rom manager it detects your phone and WON'T let you dl a rom not specific to your phone.

You need to download a 7z file extractor its like zip or rar, Extract the stock_root67.tar from the .7z file you downloaded.

EDIT : Also i unlocked my new hboot again and flashed cwm recovery touch and did a factory reset aka wipe user data from CWM touch menu but no luck helpppp
You could just flash a new Rom instead of your stock Rom.... Fast boot flash the boot.img then go back into recovery and flash away... I believe the reason why ur getting stuck is because ur on a jelly bean hboot now

OMG Thanks sooooo much to XDA now i am running arhd smoothly on my htc one x WOOOOOOT:victory::victory:
though about full wipe i am using cwm recovery and before flashing the boot.img i did select two option
1.wipe data\clear cache
2.Wipe casch partition
those are the only two options i saw in recovery though there are more option in advanced menu but didnt touch those
summery of what i did:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
again in recovery selected wipe data and wipe cash partition option
installed arhd from recovery(no tweaks selected and also selected data wipe in AROMA)
rebooted to arhd
so now what? did i do a full wipe??? i dont think i did as all music and game data is still in my storage ??? also did i had to SELECT THE battery stats clear CWM???
and just another question why cant i install any of the game apks that i installed easily when i was in stock ics????
You don't need to wipe data so many times... You only have to do it once, either in Aroma installer or through recovery... Also go to advanced>wipe dalvic n cache
Full wipe means your /system /cache and dalvic cache are wiped clean... the user sd card isn't touched. So none of your pics, videos get deleted!
Even your android folder is intact, so if you have downloaded large game data, no need to download it again, just install the apk and your good to go!
and finally about the apks, you have to go to settings and 'check' install apps from unknown sources! That will solve your problem I guess!

Yes, it's normal that you get that message.."Android is upgrading">..
After wiping cache and dalvic from recovery, when the phone boots up.. it again creates the dalvic for the apps. That's why you get that message and there's no need to flash arhd now...
Just go to settings>Apps>select the game>clear cache/data...

[Q] Bootloop after restoring CWM nandroid

I was upgrading my n7100 from 4.1.2 to the
MJ5 4.3 ROM. I wanted to back up my data with a nandroid so that I could retain my app data. After I made the nandroid I tried restoring it. After that I got stuck at the Samsung logo in a perpetual boot loop. I tried deleting the cache and davit cache and that took me to the part where it says android is optimising apps after software upgrade but once the upgrading finishes the phone restarts again and then gets stuck at the Samsung logo again in a boot loop. The only solution to get by this is to delete data/factory reset in Cwm. But then I lose all data. Is there any way to recover the app data? I still haven't upgraded to 4.3 and am still on 4.1.2.
Thanks!!
Wipe data and do a factory reset. Don't format the internal sd if u had made your backup in the internal memory of your phone. Once the phone starts use Titanium backup to restore all your stuff from the nandroid backup.

I havent been able to get titanium backup to work. It says failed to get root priviledges. i am on the latest version of SuperSU with latest binary installed. Any help on how to proceed will be appreciated.
Cheers!

I think I may have killed my phone

I went into twrp(which had just been installed using the twrp app) I then proceeded to make a new backup of my phone and found that afterwards I was no longer able to boot into android. It would automatically boot to recovery. I tried restoring the backup. and then a whole new rom. I have since found I was also unable to boot into download mode. it would still just boot into recovery. Any ideas on how I could fix this? mine is the rogers model to clarify.
Have u tried wiping dalvik cache or factory reset by Twrp?

Yes, I wiped it and tried another rom.
New info just noticed that twrp is throwing out the error E:/sbin/runatboot.sh process ended with error=1
Edit: Upon looking online at the symptoms(automatically booting into recovery no download and no system) i believe the problem may be that twrp got installed on the wrong partition or deleted partitions that it shouldn't have. I'm coming from dn4 by the way.
follow steps:
1. charge ur phone to 80%
2. Advance wipe except SD card
3. Restore Stable backup
Second Option
1. Advance Wipe all
2. Goto fastboot mode
3. Re Flash TWRP Recovery
4. Then Try Restoring Old Stable Backup

EDIT; Just out of curiosity i flashed the rom i wanted to install. Low and behold its showing the boot animation. i'll update in a few if it boots past there.
