[Q] WiFi networks gone after reboot - LG Optimus G (International)

I love the phone, but I hate that it does not store WiFi hotspots. I am currently de-rooted because I was bricked and the unbrick installed the newest firmware. Is this an issue only with my phone? I am going to test the demo at work tomorrow, but I suspect it will do the same thing.

I had the same issue and it somehow eventually resolved itself.
Don't know what else to say about it. Someone suggested connecting to your AP, then forgetting it. I tried this and it didn't work initially, but as I said, the issue eventually resolved itself.

Damn it. Demo phone at work has no issue. Just mine. Thinking about doing a DOA, but I hate doing those when it is just software. I guess I will live with it until a stable rom comes along.
EDIT: You know, the forgetting thing, it didnt work for me. But then I thought, what if I disable wifi and reboot? Nope. Then I connected, once again. Disabled, enabled and connected again, did that a few times, rebooted and it was saved! I am so happy right now.

[Q] How to use wifi no contract ?

I switched to my older phone so that I could save ten a month for the time being. Though wifi isn't working. Anyone knows what gives or could be done so that wifi could be used ? -Thanks Nolon
Gonna need more info to be able to help you.
ROM, Modem, etc.
I'm using midNIGHT rom v.3.3. dk28 that's modem right ?
It shows that it connects to my home network but it looks like it kicks it off and says it is disabled.
Update the Modem to EB13 for starters.
I was thinking about calling Sprint too perhaps.

They're not going to be much help to you since you're running a custom Rom, they will recommend you go to a Sprint repair center and they're just going to ODIN your phone back to stock.
Will do. Just won't be able to atm. Do you think it's a Sprint issue or ? As it wasn't an issue until I killed the contract. I'll message back possibly tomorrow or the next day ? Busy with the kids.
It isn't within Sprints control to disable wifi from your phone, it's most likely some kind of modem issue.
Ah well it's been running for 75 hours. I'll reboot and post back tomorrow or tonight. Thanks for the info.
I figured it out. I noticed I was able to connect to open connections but not my secured connection regardless if I knew the password. I'm unsure what the issue was but I can only assume it's something to do with if you choose to severe your contract with Sprint or change phones that for whatever reason secured wifi connections won't work..But how did I fix it ? I changed my SSID and my password to my router. It's now running full speed. I'm still using version 3.3 midNIGHT. I need to change that out after figuring out if the video and camera will work better these days. It's been awhile since I've been on here or tinkered with my phone though. Just rearranged my computer today. Still need to blow it out though. :/ Anyways just for reference. Hope this helps if anyone has a similar issue at anytime.
Sprint has absolutely no control over your phone being able to connect to wif. It was most likely a problem with your network and I would guess a reset of your router would have solved the problem.

Perhaps I didn't write that properly. Thee incident occurred the day that I released my Epic from my contract with Sprint. Not that it happened because of Sprint. Unsure why it occurred. What I do know is resetting my router fixed the error and that if anyone else were to run into this problem. I hope they find this thread. My wifi connection is still running strong since I had reset the router also.
Did you try rebooting your router and modem? sounds like an IP conflict.
Do you BONSAI?

Wifi not working properly

This is strange, my wifi works but then suddenly it only uploads (only green arrow lights up) and it will not download (orange arrow will not light up). I can disconnect and reconnect and I get some service, but then nothing happens.
I've tried the following:
Rebooting the phone several times
Restarting the router
Changing from DHCP to Static IP
Turning off the new open network notification
Clearing data from Google Play store
Disabled wifi power save with *#0011#
Nothing seems to fix it. What is going on?
READ BEFORE YOU FOLLOW ANY OF MY INSTRUCTIONS!! U HAVE BEEN WARNED I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU SOMEHOW DAMAGE YOUR PHONE!!!
OK so let's go straight to Ur answer.... Let it sit for a while after it boots up (a minute) with Ur wifi on. so restart the phone while wifi is on and let it sit for a while... If Ur using a wired connection with a wireless router disconnect the wired modem then the wireless and wait 10 secs and reconnect the wired first and let's all the lights go green or whatever color they show u its ready and then connect the wireless router and try to connect to it.
If that didn't work and you don't have your phone rooted then flash the only time that we have for now. That should fix the wifi issue.
If it doesn't work try to go back to stock and let it sit for a while without touching it and if it doesn't work then the phones defective but keep in mind that if you went through the root process that if you send it back without erasing the flash counter your warranty will be voided so be aware of it. I don't know if there's an app compatible with the s4 so if it's not rooted then replace it just to be safe.... It's your choice

My phone is not rooted.
What did you mean by flashing the time?
How do I erase the flash count if I decide to root later?
Thank you for your help. =)
------edit------
The method -- sans the flashing the time -- seemed to work, but then the internet stalled again. This is happening on two S4 phones. My other phones have no trouble with the wifi, my pcs have no trouble with the wifi. What are the odds that two phones aren't working? Nobody else is having this problem?
I have already made a thread with the sane issue. You're not the only one facing it. A lot more people are too. It might be a software thing and might be fixed in the next update. If not, exchange it

What router are you using? D-Link DIR-655 seems to be most popular one people are having trouble with. What mode are you using (a/b/g/n/mixed/etc)? Mine only works with Mixed n and g mode. When you turn off the wifi, does it actually turn off (the green indicator will dim but should actually go away when it's off)? The stock rom seems to want to keep the wifi on at all costs... not sure why! Mine is very stubborn and takes several tries before it actually turns off and says "turn wifi on the see available networks." In order for the *#0011# Power Save Mode Off setting to work, the WiFi needs to actually turn off then back on. I have to toggle airplane mode sometimes just to get the wifi to turn off.
DGL-4500 Linksys
It shuts off when I save; I put the settings as you suggested. I'll test it.

DGL-4500 is a D-Link, correct? If it is a D-Link, I'd make sure you are on the latest firmware for it and try various mode settings (disable mixed modes, 2.4GHz or 5GHz only, WPA2/TKIP only, etc). This post details a solution to my scenario; maybe it'll give you some ideas.
I have d-link router too and wifi working just fine

Yeah, it is a D-Link; not a Linksys. I tried what you did, it seems to be okay so far. I have the latest firmware. I still think this is a problem with the phone. Do you think an update will fix it?

Yes, it's definitely a problem with the phone. I've spent the last several days researching and trying to find a permanent solution. It appears to be a software issue but I've yet to explain how wifi works just fine for some and not for others.
Any solution to this yet without messing with the router setting. I have this week left to get a full refund. I doubt exchanging it would make a difference. Plus tmobile is out of stock and stores won't allow exchanges since I bought mine online.

I sent my phone to Samsung, so I'm waiting to hear back from them on what they have to do to fix my issue. Maybe it's a faulty batch of Broadcom chips?

WIFI gone to hell

Has anyone else experience their WIFI connection almost completely stop working? For the last few days either I get no connectivity at all or very slow, but every now and then for a few minutes it will run at normal speeds.
I'm stock, rooted, no custom recovery or 2nd bootloader. I've rebooted the kindle and my router multiple times. I've done a full factory reset on the Kindle. None of that helped. There's 3 laptops, 2 other tablets, and 2 phone all running fine on the WIFI so I don't think it's the router.
If anyone has any suggestions. I'd appreciate it.
Have you done any other modifications other than rooting?

I've got the google services installed to get the Play Store working, and installed NOVA launcher. I think that's all.
Well, I thought it may be something with the drivers gone funny, so I finally got around to getting 2nd bootloader and recovery going. I tried CM10, I tried Hashcode's stock ROM, and I tried the full restore from the KFHD First Aide tool. All the same results. I'll get intermittent bursts of full speed, but for the most part every web page, market request or attempt to stream something times out.
When I look at the WIFI settings in the kindle, it pretty consistently says 39Mb link speed. My phone is connecting at 26Mps, but everything works no problem as do all the other devices.
I know I'm heading into O/T territory, but does anyone know what Router Settings to check for that may be limiting just one device? Failing that I'm going to have to return to stock and see if I can get some help from Amazon.
Thanks in advance!
I'm also having some wifi issues like you. Mine's 8.4.3, rooted, with google play store and a few other things. Like you, all my wireless settings seem to be ok, several other devices use the wifi without any problems. And like you, I've had CM 10.1 installed in the past and I'm back on the stock Amazon rom.
One hunch that I had yesterday was the following: I bought a cover for my Kindle that can cover the back and front of the kindle. When I use it normally, I fold the front cover around to the back of the device, meaning there's a double cover on the back when in use. I thought to myself, maybe the cover is blocking the wifi signal or something... I then tried changing the cover to "kickstand" mode, so that it wasn't against the back of the device. It seemed to help, but I still need to do more testing.
If you have a cover then maybe try taking it off and testing the wifi. If not then I'm out of ideas, but I'm not sure how it could be a software problem, since you've tried different ROMs with the same results.
Apparently, after a quick google search, it looks like a lot of people are having wifi problems with the kindle fire HD. Perhaps the following thread will help: http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210002. It mentions changing some router settings. I'll try it on mine when I get home.

I need to get somewhere I can try connecting to a different router. If that's still unusable, I think it's time for the service call.

[Q] Major WiFi issue out of nowhere?

Hey all. I need some advice. This morning my G3 (D850) dropped WiFi connection for no reason. It says the signal is good but the network info says saved, secured. It will attempt to connect over and over again and if it does connect the signal is weak as can be and it drops the connection within 2 seconds. My coworker has a G3 also and is connected to the same work network I am. His connection says excellent where as mine said good. His device connects just fine with full bars. I'm baffled. I've already tried manually selecting 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz instead of auto select and that didn't help at all. I've tried manually turning off WiFi and turning it back on. I've tried turning airplane mode on and then off to refresh the connection and that didn't help. I've done a battery pull as someone in one of the android authority forums suggested that (apparently I am not the only one having this issue.), didn't work. I've unchecked WiFi optimization - no dice. There was another post on a different forum here on XDA that said turning off WiFi and then deleting the WiFi config folder located in data/etc/wifi and then rebooting fixed the issue for them so I tried that. After reboot when I tried to turn on WiFi my G3 rebooted itself. Does it everytime. SO, I had to restore to a nandroid backup (btw I'm on rooted stock 10f) to get the phone to stop hating my WiFi toggle attempts. Last ditch effort I did a factory reset hoping for an easy fix... Nope. I don't know what else to try. It was fine yesterday all day. This morning it was perfectly fine and then randomly started having this issue. I haven't altered any system files whatsoever. I really don't want to send my device to LG for warranty replacement so I'm hoping someone can help me out that may have had this issue and resolved it. The only difference between my device and my coworkers device is he is still on 10d and I am on 10f. That could be the issue I guess but that doesn't really explain why my device has been perfectly fine until this morning and I've been on rooted 10f for weeks. I am planning on flashing back to straight bone factory stock 10d when I get home here in a few hours from work but Idk if that will help or not. Judging from the amount of google search results of "LG G3 WiFi connection problems" this seems to be an issue for several people. I won't know if it's on the software side or hardware side until I get home but in the meantime has anyone had these issues at all? People have had success in changing to Static IP but I would have to do that for every connection I attempt to connect to and that's a pain in the a$$. Also, that does nothing to identify the root cause of the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. =)

Thanks for the reply. So it turned out my phone just randomly decided it doesn't like my work network anymore. Idk why lol. I got home and it hooked right into WiFi. Gf's WiFi and open networks as well. I call shenanigans. I went ahead and flashed back to 10d anyway though.

I am having the same issue! But it is happening in other networks too...sometimes I get the phone to connect but it only works for a while and when I check the networks it only says Saved, even if I try to connect again
Having the same issue, whether at work or home, my wifi has become near useless. I've even gone as far as trying a different ROM. Didn't work.
Same thing here
I also have tried factory reset, installed a new ROM, changed settings in my router... but the problem remains I don't know what to do anymore, I use wifi a lot!! I searched through other topics but no one seem to know how to solve it. Unfortunately my warranty already expired, I took my phone to some technicians but honestly it didn't help at all...they all said it was a software bug and I should wait for an update but if it was just that a new ROM would fix it,right?
I am not very familiar with phone hardware but I assume that if it was a hardware problem I wouldn't be able to turn it on or connect to any network, right?? (any experts here???)
Any solution is welcomed.
anyone please?? :crying:
P.S : I tried a new baseband, new kernel and new ROMs. So far, nothing changed.
I can connect sometimes but get kicked out within minutes. At other times I only get the saved, secured message.
This is happening in every network

WiFi on the G3 headaches [SOLVED]

I just got an LG G3 last friday (Black Friday) on T-Mobile (got tired of Sprint). Anyway for the most part this phone has been great. A minor glitch with a game (possibly from porting it's data over from my S3). The main problem I have is with the WiFi.
First off WiFi calling sucks. If I don't have 3 or more bars on my WiFi connection the call gets fuzzy. During one call that was clear it just randomly dropped. So that isn't cool.
Secondly, if I connect to a WiFi network at home or work or where-ever and then go somewhere else and come back or go to another place with a network I want to connect to it won't connect at all. It will show all the networks and give me the option to connect. But instead of connecting it will try to connect for a long while and then just give up. I cannot get connected again until I reboot.
I have tried the suggestions found on this thread (and other places): http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/lg-g3-wifi-issues-t2829811
No luck with those suggestions. Which include the following:
Turn off and back on the wifi radio.
Disabling the "wifi signal is weak" option.
Disabling the battery saving for wifi.
Forgetting the network (my network list was automatically imported from my Google account).
Installing the "WiFi Manager" app and enabling the 5GHz channels (US) and changing 2.4GHz channels to "Complete".
Made sure that "Internet unavailable" option is disabled.
Made sure that "Keep Wi-Fi on when screen is off" is set to "Yes".
Disabling NFC.
Disabling BlueTooth.
Disabling Wi-Fi calling.
I don't have problems with a weak signal. So I am perplexed. My Samsung Galaxy S3 worked just fine on these networks. Restarting always seems to allow me to connect again. But I shouldn't have to restart every time I want to connect to WiFi.
All of my other wireless devices connect just fine in the household (a PS3, my fiance's Moto X, my old S3, MacBook Pro, Lenovo Windows 8 laptop, an HP running Ubuntu 14.10, and another Lenovo running Ubuntu 13.04).
Why is an older model phone doing so much better than the G3? Both phones are rooted (old and new). Does anyone have a fix? My phone is currently running LG's factory rom "D85110m". That is with Android 4.4.2 (my old S3 is on a cyanogen rom of the 4.4.x series as well).
Please help me fix this. Otherwise I might return it for an S5.
Thanks!
**** Update ****
Per my below post, it seems I have fixed my problem. I ended up doing two factory resets, unrooted, and did a final factory reset to fix the problem. Then I switched to the PurpleDrake method to root it the second time (and it worked really well without any issues).
Good luck everyone!

It is on 10m. Do I need to unroot before I do the factory reset? I have never had to do one before.
So it appears that doing a factory reset does not fix it. I guess I am taking it back and having them replace it. And I will demand it be a brand new one since I just got this phone a little over a week ago.
SOLVED!!!!
Ok, so I finally got it fixed. Albeit accidentally as I didn't expect it to be fixed at this point.
Here is what I ended up doing:
Two factory resets.
Unrooted the phone (via these instructions: http://www.androidrootz.com/2014/07/how-to-unroot-lg-g3-all-variants.html).
One last factory reset at T-Mobile store by me (because they forced me to).
The wifi did not start working correctly again until after that very last factory reset that I did. The unroot process also does a factory reset. But, and this may be key, it downgraded my phone to 10c from 10m in the process. I then did an OTA to 10m after the final reset.
I unrooted it because T-Mobile's diag software detected it was rooted and said that made the warranty invalid. And after I unrooted it I took the phone back to the store and demonstrated the problem to the employee that sold me the phone in the first place. He tested it for about 10 minutes and came to the same conclusion as myself. He then had to go to his manager to approve the replacement.
They got out the new phone to replace it with then the manage told me that he was required to have us to one more factory reset. So I went into the settings on the phone and did one last reset. And for some reason, since this point, the wifi problem has gone away.
I think it is possible that something I did to the phone caused the problem in the first place. But since I did so much to it in the first few days (rooted and installed a ton of apps) I am not entirely sure. My two current theories are it was either caused by this malware infected flashlight app I installed that kept popping up the Play Store to install a particular app. Or it was caused by the rooting method I used.
The original rooting method I used was "Stump Root". So the second time around I used the PurpleDrake method. This is a tiny bit more tedious, but very effective and it didn't seem to break anything. Further, when I installed TWRP I made sure that I grabbed the recommended image for it that is specifically for the US T-Mobile LG G3 device and installed that using Flashify.
After I got it safely rooted I tested the crud out of it and it seems to be working fine.
One last thought. It is possible that somehow Titanium backup caused the problem when I restored text and call logs. But I seriously doubt it.
Anyway, if anyone has any questions for me about this please shoot me a message. I am more than happy to help.
Thanks,
Patrick
