Over 2gbs miscellaneous lol. What I would do is this:
(1) Download an sdcard app that allows you to see apps installed on there, move all the apps to the phone
(2) Copy any important photos or files to the phone
(3) Format sdcard
(4) Move anything you want on the sdcard back over
fyi, it is probably a game taking up space

Thank you. I didnt reformt my SD card but i downloaded a few apps like data usage and sd card and basically cleaned it out. There was a ton of game related stuff installed on my phone. Now i have 10 gigs available. Thanks for your help
I have a 16GB Galaxy Note II, and put a 32GB card into the unit. How do I use the SD Card for application storage, like my HTC EVO allowed me to do. I can't even use the Move To SD Card option in the Applications function under Settings.
Thank you.
LD
You cant as of right now. Jelly Bean wont allow it. I dont know if this works for the sprint version but on the international version they were rooting and then putting directory bind on to allow them to do apps2sd. I believe directory bind is found on xda only. I dont know where it is. I was thinking of using it myself.
yet another complaint I have with this phone! I wont lie for the price tag im running into a lot of things my old EVo 3D could do with ease that I am banging my head against the wall trying to figure out on this device.
SO the best work around that I have done is use a program called Directory bind. However you will need to root your device in order for this program to work right. So... I dont know how you feel about doing that or how savy you are in rooting and all that good stuff.
I will say that it only takes about 20 minutes to root the device and install Directory Bind now I have a lot of my programs stored on the SD card instead of in the phones internal memory still though there should be a cleaner way to do this than have to use a program to work around it..
Do you have a link to directory bind?
I'll leave this right here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262

sdcard0 to extsdcard
I found a scripts the tricks ICS to use your external sdcard as your internal storage. So when apps write data to sdcard0 it is actually writting to your external sd. I tried it and it works!
I dont have permission to post outside links but you can find it at galaxynote2root in the tutorials section.
Im not even worried about apps and their data moving to sdcard as much as I want a fix for the internal memory being labeled as sdcard..
On my past htc devices this wasnt the case... Its an issue having the Real sd card labeles as extSDcard because apps such as taparalk and my browser select the default term sdcard and dont allow the option to change the path to my real sdcard.
So anytime I save an image or a file it goea straight to internal storage instead of the sdcard. Again I could care less about apps2sd but I need to keep apps separated from files I download to the device. Dont want my phones 16 gigs being eaten up by my photos and music and roms and such..
Is there anyway to rename the sdcard without messing up the system any?

Ok, try ICS SD Binder in the app store. It will provide I link inside your sdcard0 directory that will give you the option to save your images to your extsdcard. So in what ever app your using if it has the options in the settings to choose your save directory, ICS SD Binder will provide the link to your extsdcard.

in the first box "original mount point" do i need to select /mnt/sdcard or /mnt/extSdCard ?
and New mount point should just be labeled external_sd. Do i need to check any of the boxes below?
Excuse the noobness with this app, never had to do this before with my other devices, it just worked as it should and didnt have internal memory lableled as sdcard when it wasnt.
Thanks in advance.
Just check bind sd to new mount point, you don't have to change anything else.

I would like to be able to move my Large apps to the SD card and since im used to HTC devices(mainly the OG evo) the use of the internal card is throwing me off. Also i do not see the option to create SD EXT in the recovery i have loaded(TWRP as was suggested not to user clockwork)..so would i need to have that done on the PC?

Link2SD does not work on the Note2. You need to use ICS SD BINDER. I tried it my self on my rooted GN2. But this will not let you run your apps from the sdcard. It only provides a link or a shortcut if you will in your sdcard0 directory that targets your external sdcard. So if you have an app that saves data and it lets you browse a location for the data in your sdcard0 directory, this gives you the opportunity to point that in your external sdcard directory. Ex, I use a app to hide my pic on my phone. the hidden encrypted pic are stored in the sdcard0 dir, and it does not give me now option to browse my external sdcard and save the files there, this app solves that problem.

There is an app out there called directory bind that people use on the S3, I will try it out and post my results

First I'll start by noting that I haad my n2 several days before purchasing a 64gb sd card. So system was already setup with a few apps installed pre-sdcard.
However now that I have it in, nothing saves to it. Everything still saves to the internal sdcard. I dont care about apps and such installed from market or xda, those are fine.
But anything I download from Tapatalk or the web browser automatically saves to internal. Pictures taken as well.
Im coming from an evo3d where pics and all media/files I downloaded would go to the sd card and not internal.
I do see that for whatever reason samsung nsmed there internal as sdcard which probably makes a lot of apps think that is the external and not internal but its extremely annoying. I dont know if its because I started using phone before I had an external one in or if thats by design.
But its ridiculous to think I'd have to manually copy everything over from internal to external sfter downloading something when my 3d used to place on external.
Do I need to factory reset to correct this or what. Whats the point of an external card that isnt being utilized??
Also it isnt recognized at all in twrp which after some reading I see it doesn't support 64gb? What gives?
Do I need to format it a certain way?
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
I have not been able to move my Tapatalk download folder, but you can relocate where things download to under settings in the browser and camera apps.
For formatting, I'd format the card via the phone under storage if you haven't already tried that.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
I changed camera to external so it now saves to /storage/extSdCard/DCIM which is good but dolphin broswer only lets u select /storage/sdcard0 which is default internal storage. Doesnt even show the extSdCard as an option. Why in the world would they do it like this. Very gay.
Had no issues on previous HTC models going to the correct place.
Would I be able to use root explorer to rename the directories?
Need this fixed more than anything. Some apps dont even give you the option to change path as they assume sdcard0 is your actual sdcard. :/

Just search for directorybind in xda it changes path from internal to sd but u need to setup it yourself.
or just download gl to sd from play store. both requires root.

There is no way to move installed apps (installed .apks) to internal memory except one, and that is to use a mod that makes your phone thinks that sd card is your internal memory and internal memory is your sd card. This way, the phone automatically installs apps to your sd card, because it thinks of it as internal storage.
If you don't like the above option (and I personally don't), then search for Directory Bind. It can't move .apks installed to external but it can basically mount anything on your sd card to your internal. This means that it can be really useful especially for big games (like need for speed) that have up to 2gb stored in your internal memory. Just make sure to download the latest version, which is 0.2.0o. If you learn how to use it, you won't have any shotage in storage issues.

FIrst thing you need to do after installing is go to preferences and change the "Default data path" for the Note 2 path:
Default data path for note 2 should be: /storage/extSdCard
Default target path for note 2 should be: /sdcard/
Tick the Bind on boot box to make the program automatically bind the paths once you boot. Also makes sure that "Persistent Service" is ticked.
Then leave settings and go to Add New Entry. Put the entry you want moved from internal to external.
For example i moved my need for speed game data (1.8gb) to enternal by using this entry
Data path: /storage/extSdCard/Android/data/com.ea.games.nfs13_na/
Target Path: /sdcard/Android/data/come.ea.games.nfs13_na/
Tick the "Transfer files from target to data" and then click "Add".
After that the app basically moved my data from target path to data path and mounted it (it fools the phone into thinking that data is still in your internal storage, that's how it works). After you finish doing all the entries you want, click menu >>More >> Backup database. Read the topic above to learn more.

Bro xperia m doesn't support moving apps to external sd but you can use link2sd to link your apps to external sd instead of moving, linking will move all the data of the app to external sd, making space on internal sd but you have to make a partition on your external SD if you want to use link2sd using mini partition tool.
So download mini partition tool on your pc, connect your external sd through phone or card reader and make a fat32 partition of 2gb or however you like and then you will be able to use link2sd.

Bro app2sd won't work on any android version in Xperia M but you can use Link2Sd for linking apps to external sd and here is the tutorial link to partition your SD and use link2sd (look at the 4th point) - http://www.xperiablog.net/2011/12/12/link2sd-guide-never-worry-about-internal-memory-limits-again/
And no matter you have locked or unlocked bootloader , you can't transfer apps to sd .... you can only link them.
But if you want you can swap your internal memory to external and vice-versa.

this is exactly what i did and my phone was rebooting all the time so i had to flash the rom again....i made a folder in sd card named 0 and moved all files from internal in there (cut-paste)was this the Wright way?or I have to just copy paste the files???also after the root on 4.3 can i delete thes system.ext4 file cause its too big
Instead of cut/paste try copying the files and look on the 18th page of that swapping sd card thread and follow the step by step guide by "spknair", and yeah you can delete that system.ext4 file now it will be fine.

you have to use 'boot fix' to get full root. search for it. test with all available bootfixes available, as I do. I couldn't share my boot fix. its for XMD
why are you still on old firmware?

Bro, read carefully his first post, he already told that he is on 4.3 rooted , So that's the new firmware and i don't think there's any need for 'bootfix' for 4.3 root .
I think he must be doing something wrong in the swap procedure that's why he is getting a bootloop and that's why i suggested him to look on your post. :good:

First of all, I am also a newbie to Android.
I had make swap my memory more than 4 times.
because I had tried to link2SD work with this.
1. download busybox & root explorer from store & install it
2. download zip file & APK file from OP
3. install intd.apk. open it. tap on 'activate' & 'verify'. Now you could get the verification.
4. make a folder named "0" (zero) 2 @ root of your memory card.
5. move all files & folders to '0' on your memory card
6. move all files & folders from internal storage to '0'
7. if you got any error message, please copy-paste all files & then delete from internal storage.
8. just extract the zip file. you will get 2 folders
9. move these to root. root is the basic location. I you press back ('parent folder' in root explorer) many times you will get to root position.
10. if you got any error message, please copy-paste all files to its respective locations. you have to mount as r/w in root explorer (option as a button)
11. then go to root-system-etc-iniit.d. folder. there will be a file named "11extsd2internalsd", right?
12.set permissions to '11extsd2internalsd' all 9 options (just ticking) from root explorer's menu. (read, write, execute)
13. Reboot.
Never connect your mobile as mass storage
use any application to stop all running processes & apps before moving (step 5)
No need of formatting & flashing (LB)
In my advice please delete .thumbnail folder from DCIM, which will accelerate your moving speed.

3.using ''root browser'' (from play store) i created a folder in sd card 1 named ''0'' (without the quotes)
4.moved all files and folders from sd card 1 to folder 0 (the one that i created in sd card 1)
5.moved all files and folders of sd card 0 in the same folder as in step 4(android folder was still there but all other folders and files were moved)
6.i opened init.d and pressed activate and then verify to see if it was succesfull
7.extracted the zip and cut 11extsd2internalsd file and paste it into system/etc/init.d(before this i set all permision ticks to the init.d folder or else could not move the file in it)the other folder named META-INF i copied it to home of the ''root browser''(i mean to the first screen you see as you open the root browser)
8.i set all permisions to 11extsd2internalsd file(9 ticks)
9.rebooted my phone
