No port found? I'm guessing your router isn't configured correctly.

I use both on my Kindle and they both work. I did have to run the tun.ko installer before either would work. Even though the tun module is already installed the vpns wouldn't work till I ran the installer.

Hulu web on nexus 7?

I just tried the free trial of Hulu plus for android. It's nice but what's suck about it is it doesn't offer all of the shows to be streamed in the app.
One of my shows is white collar, it's not offered in the app, anone knows how to make hulu work on web?

Plex and Playon both have hulu channels, which play through your PC. So whatever you can get on your PC should be available on your tablet/phone, but you would need wifi or 3G connection to your home pc. I prefer Plex, but haven't used it for hulu. With either app, you need to install an app on the PC and have it running, and also install an app on your tablet. Note I have not tried them on the Nexus 7 yet. Or on the Galaxy Nexus since the JB update either...
playon is fanastic for hulu!! plus u can watch ur shows from ur media player or pc on playon under my media! plus if u tether u can watch playon anywhere u go.
Install the beta XBMC app and add Bluecop's repo . You will find Hulu app there it works great !!

Doesn't work, it plays the commercials but when it gets to the video it won't play it.

Hm, I can't get Hulu to play through Plex either... Not sure what's wrong with it. I haven't tested Playon, maybe that will work?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Ok, so I tested Playon too. Playon appears to work fine. Commercial played, then the show played. I only watched the first couple of minutes, but it seems fine. The only issue is Playon is not free. But you may get a free trial for long enough to use until one of the free solutions is updated to work on Jellybean. If not, google TV scripts for Playon, and install it as an add on for Hulu. It gives you access to a lot more than Hulu.

I too am having the same problem. I would love to be able to get hulu web to work on here. I got XBMC, and Bluecop's repo, and I can get the commercials (which look great ), but not the actual content. Any more ideas, besides a streaming thing like Plex or Playon?

My problem isn't about if it's worth the money, it's that I don't want to have to have my computer up and on to watch.

Just an update: Hulu through Plex now works. Either the update fixed it, or unchecking GPU acceleration under developer options did. I suspect the latter, since that fixed my problem with another app.
But this is not a standalone solution, works through your pc.

Not in Plex, developer options is an android setting. I had GPU acceleration checked under developer options on the Nexus, which caused an issue with a different application. I unchecked it, and at the same time an update was released for the Plex android app. I updated Plex, and after that Hulu streaming worked. But I can't tell whether the update fixed my issue or if unchecking GPU acceleration fixed it.
(Also, keep in mind Plex is not a standalone app, it works through your pc.)

Hmm. I can't find the GPU acceleration setting in the developer options of android. But I can confirm the pled update didn't fix it, I just downloaded the newest version and hulu fails to play a video. Any more suggestions? Where exactly did you find the GPU setting?

oops, sorry, its called force GPU rendering. (I think. I have nothing at all checked under developer options any more.)
Its it just the Hulu channel that wont play? When you use the Plex app, does it connect to the Plex server? Can you play any videos or any other channels? Try to confirm that you are connected to the Plex server by playing something through it.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I just checked whether forcing GPU rendering would break it, and it had no effect. So I think the app update that fixed the Hulu channel. Unless, maybe a restart its required for the settings to take effect?

I'm still not sure.
I have nothing checked in the developer thing either, and I am able to stream other movies from my home computer. Sometimes. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it gives me "There was a problem with media playback". So I don't know what's going on. I'm running the latest version of the server on my mac, and Plex 2.2.0.6 from July 19th on my 7.
I don't know if any of this matters, but I am not rooted, and I only have the stock video player, and no codec packs, nothing extra or special on android. Sometimes little hiccups can be fixed by a reboot, so that's worth a shot. My Plex server is on windows 7 64bit, I don't know if that could make a difference. I assume that you can install a plex media player on the Mac too, and see whether or not the same thing happens playing hulu through that. At least that might help in figuring out if the issue is on the android or the desktop side. Good luck!

Still waiting on my Nexus 7 to arrive.
Was wondering, if your rooted and have one of the roms with the flash working, or you sideloaded to get flash working, are you not able to watch Hulu via the web browser to get your shows that only show via the www?
Just a thought.

I am unrooted, but have flash installed. The Hulu site detects that I'm trying to watch from an android device and tells me its not available for android devices.

Optimum3.0.apk Works on GNex!!

I have been following a thread in the Kindle Fire HD forum about getting this .apk to work on other tablets. A poster wrote that he denied it su permission and it worked on his tablet. I tried it on my GNex and it worked!
What I found interesting is that when I went to watch a movie from a channel it had the option to "watch on Phone". This is interesting because the .apk recognizes that it is not the kindle fire hd and is a PHONE.
I also looked in my play store and it shows that I have the Optimum DVR Manager installed (which I do not). So I went to open the DVR Manager from the play store and it opened the Optimum3.0.apk. This tells me that the Optimum3.0.apk might be close to launching publicly on the play store soon!
Big news for any Optimum/Cablevision subscribers!

Fire TV and SlingPlayer

So my Fire TV managed to update itself after I blocked it during the initial setup. Hasn't bother me too much until now. I bought and side loaded SlingPlayer for android and it works ok. Requires a mouse to select certain functions but otherwise it works very well. My problem is that after running the app one time, on the second load it says it can't authenticate. I'm guessing there is nothing I can do since I cannot root but I thought I would ask here. Right now I just uninstall and side load again. Any ideas?
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Free mobile app
You need a different apk. If you did legitimately buy it you should install google play services and install slingplayer through that.
I am unable to install play services because I can't root. I've used APK extractor on my Galaxy Tab twice since I bought the app to try and make sure I had an authenticated copy

Where is the Fire TV Remote App?

I was reading the info page on the new Amazon Fire TV Stick and it says
Download the Fire TV Remote App on your Android device (coming soon to iOS) to instantly search TV shows, movies, actors, and genres using just your voice

Even though the device itself is not out, the above makes it sound like the app is out and available on Android. I lost my remote for the Fire TV and really don't want to shell out another $30 for one. Where can we download this app? I have been using a wireless keyboard, but would prefer to use the app.
Yep, another one searching for it here...
It hasn't been released yet.
Mine is shipping in 2 days, and I still am not finding it in the Amazon Android Appstore, or Google Play. Could it really not be released yet? Anyone have any luck getting this app?
It is out now, search the Google play store

Works fine for me on Ethernet. Once there is a network connection, it doesn't really care if it's wifi or Ethernet. My firetv is on Ethernet and my phone was on the matching wifi. Are you sure your router isn't doing any kind of separation between the Ethernet and wifi?

Extracting Playstation Vue app

I'm 90% sure the answer will be along the lines of either it's impossible, or you would have to edit the app to make it work on android.
But is there a way to extract the Playstation Vue app from the fire tv and run it on your phone?
Is it at least feasible?
TIA

Pretty easy. Back it up with es file explorer and send it to your device. It'll probably install but most likely you'll need amazon app store for it to work. From there I'm not sure. Give it a try

Thanks. I'll try that tomorrow and report the results!
EDIT:
Well, I downloaded it using apps2fire.
It installed on my phone, but when I open the app, it says it's not authorized on this device.
I figured as much.
Guess there's not really much one can do, is there?

That was expected. That's all I know. The app is made to work for fire devices so unless you can trick it into thinking it's running on those...and I don't know that there is. I remember awhile back trying to get a game that was free for fire tv (paid for android) to work and had no luck.
There is a post on xda somewhere which tells you how to put the app on a non Sony device, I done this before on my Motorola xoom & my Samsung S5, after you put the app on you have to change the data & obb files for the app in Android/ to make it work, do a Google search or a xda search & I'm sure your find it.
(Sorry I thought you ment the older the one with the games not the newer app which streams tv)
But maybe this is possible soon? But it looks like if your in the right part of the world at the moment you can get it & even download it from the amazon store
Hope this helps If so press that thanks button
Thanks guys.
It's not really a necessity, more of a curiosity.
Also, deanr1997, I don't think there's an app for Sony devices either.
Far as I know it's iOS and fire tv only, besides ps3 and ps4, of course.

Ah ok, gotcha.
Yeah, it's a real great service. I'm streaming ps4, ps3 and fire tv simultaneously with great picture quality.
I get better channels then I had with dish, and for $55 instead of the $150 I used to pay.
But dish did have a mobile app that I could watch TV on the go.
Not so with psvue.
In any case, it's well worth it.

Just too add a little info about how this limitation might be working. I have 3 firetv devices and one of them is a rooted Fire TV v1. The prerooted stock 5.05 image is not yet available for this device so it is my only device that isn't on the latest firmware. It appears that the VUE app is checking if you are on the correct version of the Fire OS as VUE does not work on my V1 box but works fine on the other two.
I would like to try this but not sure it's available in the UK yet?

can you see what your build.prop looks like on the FireTV? you may be able to just manually edit it to trick the app into thinking it is a different device. What this might do to the rest of the apps however, I am not sure.
Anyone have any luck on this? I was able to install the android tv app on my S5 but it wont find a network for some reason. Would be great to have the fire tv version on a mobile device.
can you help me download kodinolimits i cleared all data from my box when I try to download it it says error check log
I read through the thread, and maybe missed it somewhere, but what exactly are you trying to do with the PSVue app after you extract? Or I guess more iportantly, what is the intent of your post? Outside of the obvious as you stated initially. This thing was a pain in the ass to get going on my rooted firetvs and sticks.
