No need; just remember to clear data and cache between ROMs.

While this is true, don't be surprised if you run into issues. A full wipe is usually suggested to best avoid any issues.

Dont really need to go back to stock. Just make sure to do a backup and then a full wipe and cache wipe and install

[Q] Flashing from CM7 nightlies to a different ROM?

Hi everybody....Ive been flashing ROMs from ROM Manager and never had problems...until I tried to flash from CM7 nightlies #66 to a leaked G2 ROM][04/28/11] TMOUS G2 Gingerbread 2.13.531.5.
I did the usual wipe cache and dalvik and proceeded, it seemed like it was downloaded but got stuck on the reboot, it was stuck on the HTC logo for a long time. I thought I bricked it but managed to get it to work by taking the batterie out and going into recovery by clockworkmod.
Is there any special way to flash ROMs from the nightlies on a G2?
You said you wiped cache and dalvik, but did you wipe data too(factory reset)? Pretty sure you need to do that if coming from cm to the stock tmo leak. Could be wrong but sounds about right

that is right anytime change roms that are not linear to the same dev, it is best to wipe all, data/factory/cache then flash rom

Hmm, I checked everything that ROM Manager suggested, cache/ dalvik, the only thing I didnt check is to back up current ROM.
If you wanna wipe all that data/factory/cache do yo have to flash it manually?
Flashing other roms I think messed up my phone lol. I just stay with cm7 now lol
Nonsense!

even if you did say to wipe /system and /data in addition to /cache, CWM is notorious for not actually formatting the partition. go into the dev section and find SuperwipeG2 and if you are switching from aosp<->sense or, as earlier mentioned, from one dev's rom to another, run superwipe before doing so.

[Q] Question about installing stock ROM

Ok so I want to install the ROM with the volume fix found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371054 but do I have to wipe cache, dalvik, data if I'm coming from the previous stock ROM that came with the device (ITL41D)?

No not really but you do want to unlock the bootloader and flash CWM first.
Mark.

Directions above are brief and perfect.
One addition, can't hurt and is good practice, also make a nandroid backup after unlocking the bootloader and loading CWM but before flashing the ROM.
New devices bring new bugs and tweaks, plus us humans we are error prone. A good stock backup is usually one of the first things I always do .. even if I never end up using it. Provides a great fall back in case anything does go wrong.
Good luck and let us know if you have any issues!

First time flashing 4.2 from 4.1 - order to flash zips?

Howdy y'all!
I'm currently running a 4.1.1 ROM, and would like to get on to MMuzzy's 4.2, but there are a ton of things I think I need to flash and want to make sure I get the order right. Your help will be much appreciated!
I am already using the latest version of TWRP.
I would like to flash the latest JB bootloader, and latest JB radios, but have never flashed either. Should I do these before flashing the ROM, or after? Should I do these before formatting cache? Should I format system or factory reset before flashing these, too?
I am planning to do factory reset, format cache and dalvik before flashing ROM, gapps and kernel. Do I need to do anything else to prep for flashing the ROM? Also, is it okay to flash all three at once, or should I do rom and gapps, let everything boot and restore from market, and only then flash kernel?
My main concern is the differences in file system between 4.1 and 4.2. I'm aware of the /0 subdirectory thing already, but I'd there anything else?
Thanks much!
Jamie
I wouldn't bother with the bootloader, but if you insist then you can flash the bootloader and the radios before or after. Doesn't matter.. Other than that, you do them ROM, gapps, kernel and I've done all three at once. Mmuzzy's is a good ROM. Enjoy.
First make a backup in TWRP
Factory reset
Wipe both caches
Install ROM, gapps, then kernel and reboot. (All at the sometime in that order)
I have heard its better to flash the kernel with the new ROM so just do it all in one flash.
Set everything up and let your phone sit for 15 minutes untouched and go for it.

Just a small correction; file system change would mean switching from ext4 to f2fs, for example. That's not the case.

Your best bet is to go to http://SamMobile.com and download the
specific official firmware for your phone's model and carrier.
Then go into recovery and do a full wipe including "Factory Reset"
wipe cache, wipe data, wipe system and wipe dalvik cache before
using Odin to flash the official stock firmware.
Good luck!
thanks
Thanks man I'll try it and see if it work and I'll let you know

When I had to fully unroot a T-Mobile Galaxy S4 (SGH-M919) running Android 4.2.2; these are the two threads that I found most helpful. I found them again with a simple search:

[Q] Go back to 4.2 from CM 11

I use Samsung Grand I-9082. I don't know much about android's workings and followed a youtube video to root my phone. I was then on 4.2.2 and then out of curiosity upgraded to Cyanogenmod 10.1. It was fine so when Cyanogenmod 11 came out i flashed it too using the same CWM recovery. Since about a month ago my phone is becoming unresponsive sometimes especially at lock screen and occasionally it reboots by itself while i'm in the middle of something.
Is there any way i can go back to android 4.2 from CM 11? I should also mention here that i don't want to unroot, just downgrade to a stable rom that my phone will be able to adequately function with, without causing any trouble.
So suggest some good stable roms with dual sim capability. I'm considering gennxt custom rom.
I'm not much technology literate, so kindly give me instructions for the procedure. Thanks in advance.
You can flash any stock custom rom
Or restore your stock rom backup through cmw recovery If you have
