Is the closest to vanilla (ie Nexus S)? I've noticed they seem all based on Cyanogen Mod 7. While I like the builds, and have the best luck with the GingerVillan's, I don't know which is the closest to a stock Vanilla Rom. I feel like every little tweak's been added etc. While I have no problem with that, I'm just trying to find the closest to a stock build atm. Thanks a lot guys, and keep up the hard work!
im also interested in knowing this. im currently on stock and wanna give GB a try
I am running GingerVillain and love it...everything works and runs flawlessly for me, some complain of battery life, but I am running a Mugen so I cant confirm
Running GingerVillain and it appears to be the most stable of them all.
I am also running gingervillian....and its awesome....everything works fine n smooth....n its super fast....if u want to know which one is closest to stock vanilla....I would say gingervillian as it has the stock launcher...on the other hand cm7 use adw launcher...everhything else is pretty same...by far m really happy with gingervillian...

I bought a SGH-T989-D (telus version) and it came rooted with cyanogenmod installed. It was so fast and beautiful but it had many major bugs that made it unusable (call echo, battery life, caller id broken, random restarts). It's been about 4 months so I wanted to see what the most stable roms are.
I'm looking for a rom that is fast and close to stock ICS or maybe jellybean if that's out yet. I'm currently on touchwiz ics but it's not as smooth or snappy as the buggy rom the phone came with was.
Thanks in advance and sorry if this is noobish.
This one is stable
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25363458
Its the stable version of CM 9
And my personal favorite AOKP 7/15 milestone 6
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28327124
Only issue I have is speaker phone sounds choppy.
As for JB, there is good progress, but not a DD in my IMHO.

The one by BinaryBiship is pretty good. And there's nightly builds so at least you know they're actively updating.

this question gets asked quite a bit and my opinion on the matter(since you asked) is bugs don't seem to pop up for everyone. If the phone you had had issues maybe it was just that version of CM. If you like CM then I would suggest trying a nightly, RC2 or AOKP.
There are different developers that have kanged CM as well so try that. Since what is a bug for one person is not necessarily a bug for others its a trial and error. Anyone can post a link and say this or that is the best but only your real world experience can determine if its your dd= daily driver or not....
I have been running CM9 or AOKP since I got my phone and no issues at all...No radio issues No GPS issue No hot reboot issues... so far nada... Give them all a try thats my opinion
As said earlier, CM9 and AOKP are both great. My only issue with them is that they don't have wifi calling so be wary of that if you need that feature.
Just update to the latest cm9 nightly at get.cm for the Hercules. If you are already on cm9 then make a back up and then wipe system, cache, and dalvik. Then flash cm9 and gapps.

Love the latest by Darkside. Its not pure stock but the latest is speedy, GREAT battery, and solid enough to be my DD ROM ..
Stats in sig. Good luck!
CM9 has come a LONG way these past months and virtually every bug you posted has been fixed. CM9 RC2 has been running beautifully for me for nearly a week and a half now. I recently took the plunge with TDJ's latest Venom kernel and it's been running even smoother. AOSP ROMs may have been buggy in the past but now there really isn't any reason to go back to TW. Unless of course you need wifi calling... but our devs are currently working on that and there are alternatives that allow you to call from wifi (Talkatone, Vonage, GrooveIP). So really, in my opinion, there really is no reason to go back to carrier bloat.
You could always use odin to flash a stock ICS, then root and remove bloat. You'd have a completely stock ICS running stable. As long as you're rooted, you can always flash modifications down the road. If you want a little extra performance but want to still maintain stock as much as possible, you can just flash a modified kernel on top.
Hi guys,
I have a problem for which i can't seem to find a solution through search. I'm on the latest Ice Cold Sandwich and the recent apps function (holding home button) gets really slow after a while. It seems to me that the function holds to many apps in memory causing it to be slow. I tried nova launcher which made it a little faster but not quite solved the problem.
Does anyone know a way to adjust the number of apps this function holds in memory?
Thanks
Not that I know of. And changing the launcher won't help since recent apps list is not related to it. I was a longtime IceColdSandwich user till Lord Clockan stopped active development for it. It's gotten buggy over time and especially because he was blind developing it without a phone to test on. After some use the ROM UI becomes slow overall. For ICS, I'd recommend aospX. It's the most stable ICS ROM. However it's pure AOSP and won't have AOKP/CM features like IceColdSandwich except the quick toggles in the notification bar. I'd also recommend you they the codefireX JellyBean nightlies. They are CM10 with some AOKP features and are more stable than IceColdSandwich in my experience. There a also JellyTime which is CM10 only. Since these are JellyBean ROMs, they are by default faster than ICS throughout. Everything works including 720p video recording and there are no major bugs that hamper usability.
Of course I'm only talking about AOSP ROMs. There are many stable Sense ICS ROMs if you like Sense.

As sashank said, you're not the only one facing slowing down issues with IceColdSandwich. It seems a lot of users are experiencing slow downs in the overall UI after a couple of days using the ROM.
I'm a fan of Sense ROMs, and there are a couple very stable ones around.
Thanks guys,
Might be time to switch to a jellybean ROM then....

Happy flashing
Let us know how it goes for you..
Yeah, I am in the same boat. IceCold Sandwich while formally rock steady, now is just laggy. I flashed over to Jellytime, but my wifi was so unstable at home that I have axed that one as well. I had Jellytime around B7 and had no issues with wifi. R12 & R13 are completely unusable for me. Oh well, time for something else.
So my upgrade is coming up on November 1st, and I will be looking into getting a new phone in the near future, and I am finally done waiting for this ICS update that isn't coming from HTC. I was wondering if there are any fully functioning roms for the Incredible 2, or if anyone can tell me the one that is closest to fully working. Of course looking for something ICS or above and appreciate any suggestions on where I should begin...

I have not tried Psycho's CM9 Global yet, but I hear it is pretty much fully functional except for the FFC is upside down or something...I have tried their CM10 Global and it is a smooth running rom, just a couple of little bugs they are working out. Mimicry CM9 based rom is almost fully functional...only thing not working that I know for sure is the FFC. Those are the only roms I have tried recently. I have also read that the Viper Sense rom is pretty good too, but it is Sense 4. I prefer the Paranoid Android, but there are some camera issues with it and a couple of other small bugs that don't affect me that much so I never notice them. Other than that I am out of suggestions, I have not tried UKB, MIUI, or any of the other roms that I hear are great roms.

I started with aeroevan's CM9 ROM and it was terribly slow and pretty buggy. I had to reboot it at least once a day. I'm now running Psycho's CM10 Global and it's actually been really great, aside from the nonfunctional FFC, graphic tearing with Chrome, and unstable Bluetooth. Also, the CM10 Global ROM has an issue where after locking the phone it will take 1-2 seconds before allowing you to unlock again.

Sorry, this is the only thread I ever check, so I didn't even think about it. Is there a way for me to move it? If not I guess I can just delete it...
IC Tazz has been flawless for me. I tried CM9 and CM10 for a few weeks, they work pretty good but are not 100%.
I'm using the new viper Rom. In the past I've always preferred sense tho. Viper is nice. But I prefer my own non sense widgets. So my phone basically looks the same as it did when running cm10. So I'm not sure what the point of staying on viper. Must say battery life is impressive, especially for a sense Rom. Battery life was one reason why I hated sense. But then my phone doesn't really look like sense anyways since I'm using all the same widgets as I did w aosp. *confused*

Haha, I can understand that. I've only been around this one for the past few months. Seriously, thanks for the reminder. I won't forget next time haha
for an ics rom, i gotta say viper sense is the most bug-free. both the ffc camera and rear cameras work fine, and you can shoot fine in 720p HD recording, a problem with many other roms.
this was one of the main problems i had with most CM's and aosp roms was that the stock camera sucked. it didnt even compare to the sense camera and pictures looked they were taken with a basic phone. the viper sense camera was great, maybe even better than stock.
as for bugs, i think the only thing was that taking a picture while recording didnt work, i dont think its supposed to though cuz the inc2 isnt designed for it? also for some reason after a reboot it changed from cdma to gsm, and i think the only way to change that it running the aroma installer again.
I'm no expert or developer but there is quite a few Roms that I have found a pretty stable that could be used as a daily driver with no problem. If you're not rooted I recommend trying it and giving some Roms a test run and seeing what you like before ditching your inc2 its a whole new experience.

Sadly nit had to pull the ViperINC ROM earlier today due to virtuous teams request... Regarding the use of m10 I think...
Was just about to download and finally move on from GB too...
Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk
are you serious?! i wanted to download that as soon as i got near some reliable wifi. (there's none available where i live so i use wifi tethering)
Fully functional eh? Both dkstunna and Aerovans cm9 & 10 both run nicely. Just have to make some changes depending on your carrier but youll find the solutions by reading the threads. But don't forget most roms are like that woman in the red light district. She's pretty and fun and can do a lot but there is also something under that skirt that is fully functional.

Currently Running: Mimicry 1.5 w/ vivow-tiamat-ics-031412 Kernel, JB_ADRENO_DRIVERS_V2.ZIP.
It's been a pretty solid experience for a few months now.
Condemned Sense's Stock Build Odexed.
Depends on your definition of "fully-functional." For me that means everything that the stock ROM has including FFC, rotating softkeys, 720P camcorder, wifi-tethering, etc. Most of the ROMS listed (excluding stock ROMS) so far have issues with at least one of these things. I don't consider a mentality of "living with minor bugs" consistent with "fully-functional."
Personally my list would include:
- any of the the "standard" Sense 2.1 Gingerbread ROMs like GingerSense, SkyRaider Zeus, etc. (they all use the official 2.65 kernel specifically built for GB)
- Arctic Ascension 2.02 (aka IC Tazz 3.6) - Sense 3.6 using the leaked Chinese v3.x OTA kernel - everything including the stuff I mentioned works on it. It even includes features not even the stock ROM has such as automatic 3G switching when sending and receiving MMS messages.
Try CM 7.2, it was the first rom i flashed. the battery life is extraordinary and it runs fast like hell! only problem is its a bit old fashioned.
I'm currently running ViperSense 1.1, but its just slightly slow because its using a stock kernel
Thanks everyone for taking the time to give me this information. I have been busy but plan to look into these very soon! Much appreciation!
Miui 1.12.9 with Aerovan's 0.7 CFS kernel.
I'm still on stock ICS and I found out that Samsung released Jelly Bean but if I have to flash a ROM through Kies I might as well bite the bullet and get a custom ROM. I've been poking around the development forum and can't really choose one. CM10 and Liquidsmooth both look alright but then I read about problems with Bluetooth and a crackling sound. I use Bluetooth in my car almost everyday and if I can't get a somewhat clear sound I might not want these ROMs. Can anyone suggest ROMs that might be what I am looking for? The things I am looking for are battery (Right now I get strange wakelocks (bam_mux_lock or some such in Better Battery Stats), GPS, Bluetooth, and a smooth running, no lag system.
Can anyone give suggestions?
From my experience, the touchwiz ROMs seem to be more stable. I'd highly recommend Jedi knight or intergalactic.

Going to try out Intergalactic, thanks!
Darthstalker from Jovy23 is a fantastic rom very stable and just awesome looking I highly recommend it.

had my S3 rooted and flashed AOKP's very stable 4.1.2 rom within an hour of getting it home. i'm extremely pleased with my phones performance. i've used AOKP roms (including task650s) in the past and have always enjoyed them. in addition, i've also flashed the 4.2 camera and a few stock sammy apps back onto to the phone to get it exactly how i want it. there's no reason to ever be running an android phone fully stock.
