I just put Jedi x3 on my Hercules.
I have it carrier unlocked and can't get the data to connect for at&t (the new carrier). Texting/calling/ and wifi work fine, so maybe something I'm missing. Data is turned on in toggles and in the menu.
Do you have the proper APN?

I have no apns should I go to an at&t store for that? All the other rooms I've had picked it up automatically.
It could be a possibility that you need to add it manually (though I've never had to)
Try these:

So i have an unlocked i747M from rogers and im trying to use it on at&t but I cant manually type in the "APN Type". I only get 3 options instead of a text box,
1. Internet + MMS
2. Internet
3. MMS
I assume I need this in order to use LTE on at&t ?
If so, is the only way to get it working to flash a stock at&t rom onto the i747M ? is it safe ?
Thanks
anyone ???

Internet + MMS should do the trick but in theory, AT&T should push its own APN settings to the phone when it registers on the network...

I had issues with my APN settings, got a new LTE micro sim card, they had to remove and readd my data plan, then factory reset. BAM instant success. If I had a Blackberry I could run without data no problem, with android I wouldn't aid the risk. This phone begs you all the time to hook it up on the internetz....
Hi everyone,
I just rooted my phone using mrRobinsons No-Counter-Tipping method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687). I still can't seem to DELETE the stock T-Mobile APN, and I need to delete to get on SIMPLE MOBILE's data network.
Please help me if you know how to do this. Thanks.
I may be wrong, but I don't think you would need to delete it. I believe that you would have the option to select T- Mobile or Simple Mobile. Check the Simple Mobile box and you should be good to go. Hopefully this helps you. I'm not 100% sure since I've never had to switch carriers or APN's.

On(in) the apn screen, hit menu, add apn, fill in the blanks (I don't use Simple Mobile so I do not know the correct settings) and then save (or, menu> save) and when back at the apn screen tap the radio button next to Simple Mobile.

Thanks for the reply everyone, but on my HD2 I did add the SIMPLE Mobile APN WITHOUT deleting the T-mobile one, and it didn't connect to the 3g/4g network. Once I deleted the T-Mobile APN (as the instructions say to do per Simple Mobiles website) it worked fine.
Now that I'm using my S3, I tried just adding Simple Mobile, and that Does NOT work. I recently found an app that allowed me to change/delete the T-Mobile APN (APN Manager), but maybe that didn't complete delete it, otherwise something else isn't working correctly.
Is there anybody that is using SIMPLE Mobile on their Galaxy S3 (T999)????????

I just did it this morning. Added the new APN then selected the radio button (to the right of the name of the APN in the list). I was getting an average of 15 Mbps down.
My phone is unlocked, but it's never been a problem with any Android phone I've used.

Your phone is SIM Unlocked? Is it Rooted? I'm just trying to get my setting working, and stock (out of the box), the settings for SIMPLE Mobile didn't work (I restarted and everything just as the instructions say). The T-Mobile APN was still there.
Please let me know exactly what you did so that I can try and make it work for me. Thanks.
EDIT: One other thing. I have the $40 SIMPLE Mobile Plan (which was working fine on my HD2) with unlimited 3g data. What plan do you have? Do you think that would affect it?
im pretty sure u need to go to mobile networks/network operators/default setup and choose manual before attemtping to do your add apn.

I think this may have done the trick. I also think the connection is acting differently since I'm on this phone (with this stock ROM) compared to my HD2 (with CM9 ROM created by Tytung). So deleting the APN made it find the SIMPLE Mobile network, where manually setting this one made it so I didn't need to delete the APN.
Thanks.
Closely related issue - Please Help!
Your issue is closely related to something I'm trying to do, but unsuccessfully. I also have a T-Mobile andriod phone (galaxy) and I've recently switched to Net10 Wireless. The service is excellent and everything works great on the data side. However, I can't delete the T-Mobile APN and it keeps switching back to it randomly even though I've selected the radio box next to Net10's APN. It will work for period of time and then stop and I'll go back in to the APN settings, and sure enough, it has switched back to T-Mobile. It doesn't give me an option to delete this APN, only the one I added.
Any thoughts anyone?
Thank you!

I have a pantech pocket that I just got and I am using it on my new unlock straight talk plan...I am very technology challenged when it comes to this stuff. The pamplet that came with my new micro sim card for straight talk said that I need to change the APN settings and it lists what I need to put in it's place. However, whenever I go into "mobile networks" and try to change my APN settings, I can't. They are shaded and when I touch them they don't react at all. I can't change them at all! So, how would I go about choosing manual in the default setup? I am sorry...I just don't know where I would even find any of that at. Super confused

I don't know if anyone will ever read this, but simple trick:
You're right in that when you just add a Custom APN and select it (on any phone I've had), it won't remember your selection. It'll either keep selecting the Default APN, or neither.
What's always worked for me, is to create a 2nd one and name it "DONT USE" or "Dummy APN" and "Save" it (Menu).
Then create a 3rd one and set that one up the way you want/need and Save it, then select it.
Let the phone run for a minute and make sure your Mobile Data works (go to Google.com). Then Reboot and wait until it finishes booting up (2-3 minutes from when you see the Home Screen) and then go check it and your Custom APN should be selected.
Your Carrier may have instructed you to Delete the original one, but it can't be done from the phone's APN screen anyway. They never bothered trying it, trust me.

Hey everyone!
So I picked up a tmobile s4 to use on ATT since I read it was the most unlocked due to bands / bootlocker. I unlocked it via the method described on this site via the debug menu.
Popped in ATT sim, everything looked fine initially.
1. I'm only getting 4G in an LTE area. device hasn't picked up any LTE anywhere yet.
2. When I go under "Network Mode" and select "LTE/GSM/WCDMA (auto connect) the signal dies out and it always reverts back to GSM/WCDMA"
3. I've called ATT a few times and triple checked that I'm on an Android LTE data plan, so that's not an issue. ATT techs suggested it could be a device issue and maybe I should take it into their tech center.
4. Tried to set up ATT Visual Voicemail, that failed also.
So can it be a Sim issue? Maybe something on tmobiles side? Since device was never active on their network. A lemon S4?
I've run out of options
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA!

The main end game fix was that ATT had my IMIE # incorrectly set. Once they fixed that my LTE was a go!

I just unlocked my T989D using the guide on here and everything worked fine. I can even get a different sim working on the phone and use it to call/text but it won't pick up a Data connection.
I just tried a Fido sim and it sees the APN settings and everything but the data connection just does not work.
Can someone shed some light on this for me please?

Data is for internet and apps.....phone calls and texts just use the radio signal. Just to be clear. They're 2 different things. You don't need data for calls and texts. I think you know this, but wanted to be sure.
Do you have the new Telus or T-Mobile radio flashed? Only those 2 work on anything current. So what rom or stock version are you running? With the proper radio and apn settings, it should work.
Tho if its an issue caused by unlocking, then I'm not sure.....never done it myself. Did you Google the issue??

Yah I knew that about data. But I managed to get it to work. All I had to do was click on reset to default under APN settings and it started working.
No idea why that worked because I never entered any settings myself but let the actual phone pick up the stuff from Fido.. oh well now it all works.
So I just got the phone yesterday, and I noticed that data on it didn't work, but calling and texting did. My data plan is under Rogers, so I went to a Rogers Wireless store, and they couldn't make data work, as it apparently couldn't connect to their APN. I was wondering if this was a software issue, where it wouldn't accept an APN from any service provider, or if the phone just doesn't work with Roger's data specifically?
Also, if anyone in BC has gotten the data working on their Red Magic 5G, how did you do that, and what's your service provider?
Try again. Im on Videotron in Quebec, took me several tries to finally to get to save the apn. Roaming data for Videotron is on Rogers network. Tested and working in Ontario.
Although, carriers in BC might use other lte bands. ?
Working without any hassle or need to setup the APN configuration with Public Mobile on their LTE network.
There were some mentioning the APN setup page isn't clear, especially is you're using dark mode.
Rogers APN settings should be readily available so you can edit/input yourself.
Edit: found this:
https://communityforums.rogers.com/t5/Wireless-Knowledge-Base/Rogers-APN-Settings/ta-p/410438
You need to use an app called MyNewAPN to add the APN settings. For whatever reason you can't do it through the APN menu.
