Call screen app? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I will have to wait some more time to get stable and fully working JB AOSP ROM, so I am back at CNM 7.2. One thing I really DONT like is trhe look of the caller ID screen. So I am looking for an app to replace it. I already tred the few available on the market "Ultimate Call Screen HD", "HD Full Screen Caller ID" and "Full Screen Caller ID". I tried the rocket dialer option, too. All focus on full HD pictures, but I dont need that. All bug when I make a call, too - the default screen will flicker for a second before showing the replacement.
I will be happy with the look of the stock ICS, and stable behaviour. Please, recommend an app, if you know one

[Q] Crop Box for Pictures and Wallpapers in CM7

Hello all,
I was just wondering one thing, as this happened to me whenever I tried an AOSP rom on both my SGS i9000, Captivate, and now my Desire HD.
When I have the stock rom on, or a sense rom, when I choose a picture as my wallpaper, or a picture to set in a picture frame widget, the box that pops up to crop the picture to fit your screen is a rectangle. A horizontal rectangle for wallpapers, which is correct, and a vertical rectangle for the picture frame widget, which is also just right.
In every version of CM7 I've used, or other AOSP-like roms on other phones, the crop boxes for setting wallpapers and picture frame widgets are Square instead of rectangles. I've asked in the CM7 thread, and someone replied to me saying they don't have that problem.
- Why does it occur?
- Could I be doing something wrong? I always use / flash the "Full Wipe" zip after factory resetting before I flash a rom to remove everything.
In short: Crop Boxes in CM7 are Square instead of Rectangle in Sense. Rectangles are what I want, as they make the pictures set crisp and perfect, instead of horrible and stretch / contorted.
Thanks again.
Anyone?
I know not everyone is experiencing this, what could be wrong?

Call Screen Replacement

I am currently running CM7.1, but my only gripe is how plain and boring the call screen is. I know there is an alternative in the market (Full Screen Caller ID) , but I was wondering if it's possible to port the call screen from MIUI or newer sense roms to an AOSP rom or if there are any other options.

[Q] Best Full Screen Dialer at 200 Density?

Hey all,
So I finally got around to editing my build.prop and I love the extra screen real estate it gives me.
What I DON'T like is how the stock dialer doesn't scale to full screen.
I've tried a couple of dialers from the market, but every one that I've tried insists on having the call log on the dialer screen, forcing the keypad to be even smaller than the stock keypad.
Are there any dialers that will actually give me a keypad that scales to the full screen?

[HOWTO] Turn off screen (kind of) while recording.

So I know a few people have asked about this around the net and I've yet to find a solution for this so I thought I'd post my little workaround.
Anyone that's tried to create a long timelapse with the GNex will tell you 1) you NEED to be plugged into AC the whole time and 2) Phone gets extremely hot. Since brightness is automatically increased when recording video, and can't be decreased I use the following combo/setup as a workaround.
Download Screen Filter from Market (**** a play store) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.haxor&hl=en
This app essentially lets you tint your mobile screen from a percentage range of 2-98% of your current brighthness.
Once the app installed go into drawer and add the apps widget to one of your home screens, and set your desired tint percentage. I'm currently at 2% and that makes my screen look like its completely off (except for softkeys)
The final product ends up looking like this..
lol and for all you pervos out there dont be using this workaround to secretly record down/up women's clothes and such...
there is a spycam app called simple notepad that will give you a complete black screen while recording and lets you take pictures by tapping the screen. it works great with amoled scene since the phone looks like it's off when there is a black background. it'd didn't work so good on my atrix but great on the captivate. It's not in the market so you will have to google it.
thanks for the tip I'll check it out

but how can you do anything after recording has started? my phone stops recording even if i press the home button.
or do you darken it before you start recording, and then navigate blindly? how do you undarken it afterwards?
hmm... the screen filter idea seems kind of good, even though you have to navigate blind through the menu... I wish there was a native way of achieving this, just like a button in the camera to turn the screen off and back on again on a tap somewhere or so... But I think it works for my problem, thank you for your idea.

Stock ICS (4.0.4) - Time Lapse Video Feature

So, I finally got ICS and was wondering if this feature works. I've seen some youtube videos on this and some blogs. It appears that you are just supposed to set the timer in the settings to the desired interval while in video mode.
"For those unfamiliar with the time lapse option, simply head into your camera app, choose the video recorder and then the half circle icon to set your time lapse interval. Press record and enjoy!" (From droid life blog entry ... couldn't post the link) I've even tried Camera ICS and while the option is there, it does not seem to work.
Hopefully this is just an ID 10 T error on my part. :fingers-crossed:
