Global CM9 camcorder crashed 3 times in 10 minutes, I switched VipInc. After the initial extremely unbearable 10 minutes, it runs smoothly so far for over 5 hours. Battery life is not tested yet, but everything else seems fine. 1080p video recording is an option, but I don't think the camera in fact support it.

Best ICS ROM?

Opinions on ICS for the DINC anyone?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719879
I use AOKP Build 40. It has the most features but it is slightly unstable.
I haven't messed around with it on my Inc lately. But I did note that a lot of rims didn't manage to support camcorder. Considering the good camera. I dislike xD

Been using this, and I've had a pretty good experience. Really excited about PureMotive's and Albinoman's work on jelly bean, however: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751992
I really really liked this rom, but the phone is completely broken so I had to go back to GB. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736971
I'd also love a recommendation on a good ICS rom.
Any of the CM9 variants, you can use a third party camcorder if you need it. AOKP has a few more features, but they're not as well implemented imo and it's randomly unstable.
CM9 by drk.hd with Cobalt theme.
Abduction: The 4th Kind by Hanger84.
Herp Derp Tapatalk 2
AOKP is badass but the battery was so bad I couldn't use it long term. I'm trying drk.hd CM9 right now for a hopefully better battery life.
Evervolv's ics ROM works great for me. Camera works, never had a random reboot, and very smooth.

Yes. Miui v4. There should be a thread for it.

My vote goes to Linaro CM9 or the other CM9 by hd.drk (although I had some battery issues with it, my buddy has not). Both are snappy and 99% problem free.
Which (if any) 3rd party camcorder apps are any of you using?
I know it's a phone, not a camera, etc etc etc, but with a toddler running around the house there is almost always chance for video gold and the phone is always nearby.
Thanks.
CM9
I go CM9 all the way.
However if you want something cooler (but unstable at the moment) Head over to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778190
It is running 4.1.1 It is developing fast and better each time.

Is evervolv a miui rom, if not is there any screen caps from it or where to get the rom
Running evervolv 2.2.1a3 now and have just switched from MIUI v4.
You cant go wrong with either rom. I will say evervolv is running much smother for me than miui did. Video works better too. But you can beat the theming with miui. Though I hear that is broken on the latest port.

is it at all like the miui that i am used to or not? I might try the new jb but not sure

What with ICS now ?

Hello all,
Now that HTC has confirmed that there won't be an update for the DHD what are we left with ?
As far as i can see the only ports are incomplete ones with camera not working and various bugs.
Is there a chance to get a working ICS or will GB be the last stable base for our devices ?
Thanks for the tips
i had icecoldsandwich over the past few months and in runs very well..since a few days randoms jellybean mod- it runs very stable too.
i think if it goes in the same speed forward with jb as in the last few days then we have hopefully an stable 4.1 in near future
give it a try :cyclops:
Thanks for the tip but what about the camera that's supposed not to work in ICS because we don't have the drivers for it ?
I like to play and beta test, but i'd rather have a phone with full functions if it's to stay like that for a while..so camera, usb tether and so must be in...

The camera works fine on IceColdSandwhich, I think its Video recording thats broke. And apart from the MMS thing if your unlucky I've had zero issues since installing any of the recent versions.
The video works too bu only in 480p, which is acceptable.
AH ok, thanks, what is this MMS problem you're talking about ?
Since I have ZERO experience from ICS I'm leeching your knowledge
IceCold is the way to go! Once we have the new kernel from primo a then we should have a full working version of ICS on our phones xD

sounding more and more likely, although IceCold Lite is doing me fine for now, hardly ever use the camera video recording and since the introduction of apps like whatsapp, using mms has become redundant
Android 4 Life
i am using ARHD all long time ago , but yesterday just flash IceColdSandwish , even a little bug still around it still work great then last time ago .
but i have a few problem here
mangawatcher < no work at all
papago < my car postion moving delay and slow ( GPS signal are fine)
sygic < very hard to open and work perfect ..

Most Stable JB ROM

Any feedback on which current JB ROM is the most stable? I installed speed(CM10) and I'm having some issues.. thinking of changing.
Thanks!
Every one has different views on stable ... so its best to try out all of them your self.
But last night I flashed the new aokp 8212012 build and I love it no problems at all

So far the most stable JB ROM is the CM10 nightly from 8/21. I've used all sorts of ROMs including every release of CM10 since 8/8 and while every other ROM/build i tried had many bugs, the 8/21 nightly with the lean kernel and HW Overlays disabled has been absolutely flawless for me. All my apps are working, no reboots, no screen flickering, no audio issues, no notification LED hiccups, and blazing fast.
I'm sure the 8/23 nightly is just as stable but I'm content enough with my current setup that I don't plan on flashing again until a fully stable RC is available.
I tried CM10 and AOKP yesterday. Deal breaker for me was Netflix didn't work on neither.
I'm addicted to Breaking Bad. Gotta have Netflix on my phone.
Other than that, those two ROM are amazing!

I've been pretty amazed lately at how many people require Netflix on their phones. I think the longest video I've watched on any phone is a 7 minute Youtube video...
I watched shows on Netflix while sitting in bed next to my kid waiting for her to fall asleep. I'd prefer watching ion my 55" lcd instead, but it's so convenience on the phone. Plus our S3 has an awesome screen for watching Netflix.

[Q] What's the point of using ICS/JB-based roms?

I can't figure it out so maybe someone will help me (using MIUI as example).
What exactly is the benefit of using JB-based MIUI over GB-based MIUI apart from the fact of having the newest thing on the block? I found only TWO minor things:
- good voice recognition of Android 4+ (I don't even know if MIUI has it built in)
- in MIUI JB you can have pattern screenlock as a single lock. There is no way of avoiding double screenlock on GB MIUI.
So is it really worth loosing HALF of the Quadrant score - I get ~950 points in JB MIUI and 1900 in GB MIUI (which I suppose means JB roms are two times slower than GB roms) and some extra space on data partition?
Did you seriously just write that.

Everyone knows benchmarks are worthless in the grand scheme of things. Except for testing new high end phones (even then there not accurate enough.)
GB MIUI is probably a little faster but no were near 2 TIMES faster than JB MIUI.
Though MIUI in general was never that fast anyway
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
In the grand scheme of things we could just use Nokias 3100 and our lives would not be much different.
There is a big difference in benchmark result between different roms on the same phone, so obviously it IS measuring something.
GB MIUI is also twice as fast as GB CM7 on my phone.
I'm running Spazedog ICS and i'm getting 2100pts
However, SPazedog is a very stable ROM

I can give you more than that on a froyo rom. It still is a fake score.
- Swyped from my Galaxy Note 2
Aside form arguing whether benchmarks work:
A- Aesthetics, ICS is unbelievably beautiful
B- All the launcher features, Keyboard mouse (if you do some scripting)
C- As mentioned voice recognition is great
D- Upgraded GApps
E- List goes on...its the little things that count
And yes, Spacedog rom for the bravo kicks a**
ICS/JB UI is smoother and more user-friendly. camera is better and faster. overall the experience is better (there are lots of improvements there and there that make things much easier and more enjoyable to use)

Have you never tried a ICS or JB ROM? Just make a backup and flash one. There are really good smooth/stable ICS ROMs, and JB with butter is really tasty, though still some bugs. Not slow at all though. Give it a go.

I think people need to redefine the words 'stable' and 'smooth' as well as 'fast' coz I didn't get those when using ICS or JB (with a tons of bugs that, I think, will not be solved anytime soon).

[ROM]AOKP KitKat 4.4.2 nightly is avaliable

Xmas surprise from AOKP team, hooray :good:
It seems to be smaller than their JB nightlies. I wonder if it's just a stock KK ROM or if most AOKP features are really included.
Any opinions on it? Is it any stable?
So far on CM11 nightlies and must say they work great (besides camera issues).

Have not found big issue since using this AOKP nightly except
1,Google play first run stuck
2,Installing apk seems using more time than other roms basically
I'm now using this rom as daily use. I use gapps from @PlayfulGod and fancy kernel r44 ext version, btw, video play back looks better than CM kernel imo

I've tried all the KK ROMs for the GNex, and this is BY FAR the most stable out of all of them. Others are plagued with random reboots, graphic glitches, and 4G issues. AOKP has none of those! Its actually a relief to not have a single issue in 5 days. I forgot that a GNex could actually be stable. Plus, they have active devs working on issues. Now I don't need to upgrade my phone for awhile.
