Hey all just a minor problem I'm having sending more than 150 characters. I just flashed JB sorcery 4.1 for sprint galaxy nexus, but when I send over 150 character messages, it fails to send. Previous Roms would split the message into two separate texts, but for whatever reason mine trays to send it as one and fails. Wondering if anyone else has faced this on other Roms or is this a JB Sorcery issue. Thanks in advance!

I'm not positive on sorcery but look for SMS Limit in security and change your limit to 200 or 300 and see if that works.

Hey thanks for the reply but that option doesn't seem to be available under the "security" tab in settings. I thought it might be a bad flash but I've wiped everything and reinstalled and still have the issue. I've even installed MMS.apk files that claim to split the texts up but they don't work. Sorcery is the only ROM that this has happened on. I'm going to try installing stock gapps(using inverted minumus) and see if that fixes it.

I have Infamous 2.8 ROM on T989.
Everything has been great and then yesterday I stopped receiving texts (I can still send them and make calls, etc.). When I go into my contact list and select someone to send a text, and screen goes black except for the top (with time/battery/etc) and it then says, "Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped."
Any help with this?
Not sure how much it'll help, but I'd say try a darkside cache wipe. If that doesn't work, it might be a bad flash, or a recent app you've installed, but I'm far from an expert.
Russian smashed across the interwebz from my Samsung Galaxy SII.
Might need a new simcard...flash a back up if it don't work replace ur sim ...tmo will do it for free

Hi all,
I have already searched for this answer but have not found an actual solution. When u text someone and I carry over into a 2nd message, my phone says converting to MMS!
Now I've recently moved to 3 was on Orange for years and I'm pretty sure my Note 2 on Orange didn't do it or my S3 I had or even other phones!
Is this a 3 issue or did it already do it on Orange and I didn't notice?
Is there a fix with the stock messaging app? I don't want to switch to go sms or handcet sms.
Cheers

I don't have my gn2 yet, but...
Is stock the standard aosp messaging app or a Samsung app? If its the pure aosp, there is a setting for splitting messages after 160 chars, which is the standard SMS limit. Is there not an option for something similar to split or keep as SMS? Just because some apps allow 160+ as SMS doesn't mean they should.
Carrier and region may have impact on this as well. More information is always helpful.

Thanks for the reply. It's a Samsung app, so there is no option for the above. I can use a 3rd party app to get round it as 3 have said it's a known issue on their network with certain Samsung phones.
I will just have to either send separate texts or get charged!

Note2 very bad in this, I am extremely disappointed with this, I'm using GOSMS until they find a solution, because the solution of S3's not right with the Note2.

I don't want to use a 3rd party app, it should be in built. Hopefully Sammy will fix it soon.

I rooted and used the [ROM][JB 4.2.1] XenonHD RC2.1 (30.11.12) download. Everything is working awesome, fast, etc etc. Except my MMS. Since the new ROM I can't send or receive any.
Does anyone have a fix or idea for this? I was going to ask in the thread for the ROM but I am a noob and don't have enough posts yet.
Thanks!

I went and checked that out. I am not having problems with my SMS. Those are working just fine. My internet and everything else is working fine too. Only the MMS isn't working which from what I've found means I need to edit the APN settings.
Same problem here can't send mms using T-Mobile with unlimited data

I changed some of my APN settings and am getting intermittent MMS's sending and receiving. But it's still messed up.
So I looked through the forums and didn't see the problem I am having. I am using GoSMSPro on my rooted S3 and when I text one of my friends who is using ATT I get her replies from a totally different number. I wasn't sure who it was at first so I texted the number back and a different lady replied saying she didn't text me. Long story short I have already been to a Sprint store with no luck, but now when i text my friend not only are the replies coming in from a different number but my texts to her are showing a number that's not mine. Any ideas as to what is going on?? Thanks in advance.

Re: S3 Text Message Issues
I would suggest going back to unrooted stock jellybean and see if the problem exist.
If it does it's either Sprints problem or a ATT issue.
Does it happen with all numbers or just 1 person?
Sent from a planet far far away.
No only happens with this one number... I text a 215 number and get a reply from a 267 number, I am texting from a 618 number but it shows as a 801 number.....

Did you try using the stock messaging app to see if it's not an app issue? It sounds like a network issue, however
Tried using the stock messaging app this weekend and still got the same weird numbers
Re: S3 Text Message Issues
Try un installing the Gosms app. Then wipe data on your stock messaging app (make sure you use some back up app to save any messages you need to save) then reboot the phone and test it using the stock messaging app. I think this will clear your problem.

Is the person in your contacts?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Yes the person I am texting is a contact. The random number i get with her reply is not a contact.
Re: S3 Text Message Issues
As long as your contacts are synced to Google try wiping cache and data for contact app. I had a goofy issue like that once and that took care of it

This happened to me. It was Google voice. It was weird but eventually fixed itself

Nice, put "SOLVED" in your thread title please (edit the first post and you have this option) so that others who have issues can solve it
Once I reach the character max for the first message I can't go past that! Why! Whyyyyyy!?

It should split when you send mine does. Try a third party sms like gosms or chomp sms.

Sprint is CDMA network and has trouble with more than 160 characters. If you're on a custom rom, like AOKP or CM, there generally is an option in sms settings to auto-split.

I use Sprint's stock messaging app and have no trouble sending messages longer than 160 characters, and they split properly on the other end. Do you get an error message or anything when you hit 160? Mine counts down characters to 0/160 and then continues on with 160/160, 159/160, etc.

^^^ This. I also use stock messaging app and never had any issues. I also use the auto-combination feature and when people send me messages longer than 160 characters it combines them back into one message. It says it only work from Galaxy to Galaxy phones but that's a lie. My sister has the EVO LTE and when she sends me long messages they come in one whole text.

I'm running MC2 4.1.2 stock rooted and have auto-combination checked, but messages still come in split, at least from my son's AT&T iPhone. Is there anything else that should be set to get it working, or is it an iPhone thing?

Maybe it's because she's with a different carrier. Another cool thing is that my sisters EVO is also combining long messages too by default. However you still see the 1/2 - 2/2 on her EVO unlike our Galaxy which does a better job.
Edit: Nope it don't work from ATT iPhones. I just received my cousins text in two..
