I am having a serious problem with my Kindle Fire, I am worried that it has bricked. For the past month ive been trying to fix it and nothing ever worked out. What happened was I tried to root my kindle using Kindle Fire Utility, and everything seemed fine at first. I turned my Kindle on and everything was normal, then I turned it on again and all it does is flash on and off at the screen with a yellow triangle with a flame in the middle of the triangle and it says "press power button for recovery." The kindle does not respond to anything and it will not turn on unless connected to the computer and it will not turn off until i disconnect it. My computer also does not recognize my Kindle.
Kindle Fire Utility says to just switch it to normal mode by going the "fastboot menu" and simply switching it. But when i do the program just sits at the screen saying "waiting for device" and I think its because my computer simply will not recognize it.
Others have said to go in the command prompt and type "adb shell" but that wont work either. It says something like "adb is not recognizable as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. So i have no idea what to do there.
I never installed TWRP so i tried tonight, and I downloaded the image and i did what it tells me to do in the command prompt, but once again it would not me recognizable as an internal or external command.
Im all out of ideas and have not found a single person with the same problem as me and I need any help I can get from anyone. I GREATLY APPRECIATE ANYTHING!

Well I charged my Kindle overnight and it is staying on and i can turn it on and off whenever, i connected it to my computer and the computer found it but it couldnt find any drivers for the Kindle and it sort of ignores the Kindle. The Kindle fire utility still says "waiting for device" and when i try to install drivers from the Kindle fire Utility folder it tells me "There was no driver found for this machine" What should i do now?

Have you tryed holding the power button down for like 20 seconds to power it completely off then powering it back on?

I read the page and they said I can reverse it with SDK, or KFU. Ive tried with Kindle Fire Utility but how do i do it with SDK??

I'm a little confused about the reverse it idea but the drivers were there before why aren't they now? If your referring to going through the process to set a the proper environment you need Java development kit then open the sdk manager and download tools and 2.3 platform and the Google driver this is a lot of excess bulk that may not be needed try using system restore to roll your computer back to a date before you messed with the driver's. Download a fresh copy of kfu rerun the driver without your kindle plugged in then see what you get.
SDK will let you do the same thing KFU does, only manually. If you can't get KFU to work, the SDK probably won't help.
In order for either to work, you need to make sure your drivers are in order.

The yellow triangle your looking at is the bootloader which isn't bad but the fact that you don't have twrp installed and can't get past it and your computer either doesn't recognize or will not communicate with the device is bad. Your driver's must be functioning to make it past this via adb.

Could I do it on a different computer then?
Many people have had success with that, yes.
Unsigned drivers
Well i tried on the new computer and it wouldnt let me download the drivers but i found out about changing the unsigned driver settings on my original computer but i have windows vista on the original one and windows XP on the other, the Windows XP computer was easy to see the unsigned driver setting(which didnt work out) but i cnat find it on the vista. Where is it located?
I also tried the code: bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
The cmd told me that my access was denied

It says i gotta choose a device/file, what file would it be? would it be the "install_drivers" in the kfu?
There should be two files:
android_winusb.inf & adb_usb.ini
...both are somewhere in the KFU/drivers folder

I found the adb_usb but there two of the other, they are called
androidwinusb86

Well i got the Google Usb driver installed, but the problem still remains where my kindle is connected and my computer says its finding a driver for it, but then my Kindle disconnects too fast and the computer cannot find any drivers because "the device was unplugged." I noticed that when i start the kindle while its connected the power button light is green, and thats when my computer sees the Kindle, but then the light turns orange and then the computer loses it. What should i do now?
That seems to be a typical problem with Vista. I'm not sure what causes it, but it would probably be beneficial for you to try a different computer, if you have one available.

First of all sorry for my English, I had a Kindle fire since few days. I try to root it to put ICS on it. That's the only one reason for what I bought it .
I tryed to follow this video ( ww w. youtube. com/watch?v=mwMHIkX20YI ) but I was stuck on the kindle fire boot screen for many minutes after the downloading step on the step number 2. The download was completed but the window always say " waiting for device ". After a while I unpluged it and now I'm stuck on the boot screen and KFU say " offline " for the status.
Right now I'm trying to drain down the battery but can you give me a solution for my problem .

It's much more likely that you will have to use fastboot to change bootmodes. The 3rd post in the thread soupmagnet referred you to will have both the adb and fastboot commands to change bootmodes.
In fact I really don't understand where I need to put the command line .
And wich one put .
Shift + right click your KFU "tools" folder and select "Open Command Window Here"
[Edit:] You might need to make sure your drivers are in order as well...

I think all the ****ing problem come because the drivers are not installed well.
Sometimes my windows recognize the kindle as " unknown " peripheric and sometimes it didn't recognize it yet.
I try to re install the drivers but it just take half a second to re install and it's seem that's a fake installation.
The problem is that I have the kindle as " unkonw " in device manager but when I try to install the driver with the explication in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20421225&postcount=222 , I didn't find the android driver...

It's really complicated for me to install Linux because I already have bootcamp with Windows on my MacBook, I think I will go to Best Buy and ask for another Kindle Fire because this one don't want start up...
WTF?! You have a Mac? Why are you even messing with Windows in the first place? Get breakdroid and fix it easily.
BreakDroid doesn't work at all it always be on offline status, I have a MacBook pro with Lion and Windows 8.
If there is a solution with BreakDroid I can't find it, that's starting drive me crazy .
Update : I got the error " device not found " what ever I try on BreakDroid.
Update 2 : Wao I just try with now hope the kindlewater in the DMG and I'm now on the TWRP. I don't now whats happened but...

kindle fire stuck
I unbrick my kindle fire then it suddenly shows this mssage :

Hey guys... Only second kindle I've ever attempted (have a butyload of other android devices I've rooted... But this bigger with no other buttons has me stumped )
Anyway... Went to root today, plugged in kindle, battery was dead... No problem... Let it charge.
When it booted, ran KFU to tell it to install TWRP. Here's where it gets....odd.
I had twrp in the KFU folder but it decided it wasn't there and wanted to download it... Mind you, this is... I believe... After it sent a command to fastboot ... Well, I didn't have internet, so KFU just sort of stopped when it couldn't download twrp...
Since then, the kindle is just stuck on KindleFire screen... Doesn't go any further... If I let the battery run out for about an hour, it will start rebooting every 5 seconds even if I plug it in. In the "bootloop" I can't turn it off, it just keeps rebooting...
If I let it die, I can plug it in, let it charge and turn it on... Sticks at KindleFire screen... I have tried holding in power for 30 seconds... It just turns the kindle off, doesn't help.
Windows sees it as an unrecognized device (tried rebooting, unplugging, uninstalling the drivers, looking at the KFU folder to manually select drivers (windows says they're not the correct drivers for the device) adv can't see it (cms... Adb devices shows no devices connected)
Any help is appreciated... If I missed needed info, please ask and ill supply...
I'm happy to try anything and report the findings...

OK... but why does it stick on the KindleFire logo? (It does that without rebooting, it just hangs there).. And the battery drain was not intentional... It's ff now... charging (I assume... no logo, no led )

Sorry if im being super-noobish... I prefer my nook over this kindle

Yes, it is in fastboot. ADB won't recognize the device in fastboot because ADB commands don't work in fastboot, only fastboot commands will. The KFU won't detect the device in fastboot because of the bootloader itself. It used to, but not anymore...likely due to an update on Amazon's part. There can be a couple of reasons why it just hangs at "waiting for device". When you see "waiting for device", you can reboot the KF and see if it detects upon rebooting. If not, you'll have to completely uninstall your drivers and try again. Even then, there's still a good chance it won't work. If not, you can reference the following thread for clues to get it working properly:

OK.. Ive tried everything in the thread... Only thing I cant find is the android_winusb folder (Im running Win7 x64).
Also, when I look up the UNKNOWN DEVICE Hardware ID, I get USB\UNKNOWN) in device manager

Make sure you have the hardware IDs that I posted in that thread, in your KFU's 'android_winusb.inf' file.
You also have to find and delete the folder that gets created by KFU's install_drivers.bat. It will be in the WINDOWS directory somewhere, most likely in a hidden folder. Make sure "Show hidden folders" is enabled.
You may have to search your hard drive for any directory containing the string "android" OR for the filename 'android_winusb.inf',making sure to search hidden files and folders.
Once you have found and deleted it, reboot your computer and run KFU's newly edited 'install_drivers.bat'
Still Stuck...
OK, so, I did a CLEAN install of windows XP, installed the complete Android SDK package, then installed the modified KFU package (Added the lines of Device IDs supplied in your post on how to get it to work) and edited the install bat to install in legacy mode.
I still get an error in windows about the Kindle Fire.
I installed everything, then plugged in the kindle after turning it on. Kindle is still stuck on Kindle Fire logo (doesnt flicker or sparkle or dim or anything)... and windows says:

Cannot start this hardware
There was a problem installing this hardware:
Android Composite ADB Interface
This device cannot start (Code 10)

Thats a USB error code , maybe trying to use a different cable or use the usb ports on the back of the pc instead of the front

Apparently the kindle was waiting for me to send the TWRP package... THATS ALL!!!
I built the factory cable... proved useless for me
I went through all of my USB cables... NONE worked...
So, as a last ditch effort I thought... screw it, lets see what happens if I... (Fill in the blank)...
Tried sending the TWRP package and BAM!!!! Blue kindle...

I am trying to Root my Kindle Fire version 6.3.2, and am looking for the correct Kindle Fire Utility. I do not want to download the wrong one as the ones I have seen were for version 6.3.1 or 6.3. Anyone have suggestions?

Thanks for the linky, i grabbed it today and for some reason, it's not detecting my device. I've installed/reinstalled the drivers that came down with v0.9.8, still same results. Shows the driver Android ADB Device
When I run the option 2 to install root & superuser error encountered. We are unable to locate your kindle fire. Fastboot uses a different device than ADB. ck device mgr for Kindle or Amazon (when looking, neither are listed.)
So tried to just boot it to FastBoot and same results, device not found.
So being dummy me, i ran the Run script as admin, now i get the Tools\wget cannot be found. Thought maybe it was a long file name issue, so copied folder to c:\temp\ - still same results.
What am I doing wrong here guys?

Put everything back where it belongs first. Also, your computer recognizes the kindle as an Android adb device in device manager? You are on 6.3.2 also?

It was seeing it as android adb.
I do have it on 1.4.a as well.
I did remove all of the drivers to the point win7 was showing kindle with an !. Reinstalled and rec'd same results. Got pissed at it and removed drivers again rebooted and removed the files under .android. When I get a chance, i'll try reinstall. Maybe by manually deleting the inf file will do some good???. I'll update the post when I have a chance to work on it.

Have you tried running KFU under compatibility for Windows XP SP3? Once you do that, it'll automatically ask for admin privileges.

The one that ichigo said is good.
So I was using the new KFU 9.8+ on my first gen kindle (6.3.2)
and during the procedure while I think it was attempting to install FFF bootloader it was on <waiting for device>, my laptop lost batter life and shut down. Upon booting up my computer and trying KFU again
ADB Status: Offline
Boot Status: Unknown
My kindle now displays the logo. I assume it's bricked right now.
Are there any remedies to fix this?

It is on the orange logo? And it won't boot properly? So the kindle just stays on that screen without getting dim or anything, right?

I know how to delete the .android folder, but how can I be sure that the deleted drivers are the one associated with adb and not with other programs ? are those the drivers in Windows/system32 ?

The .android folder is found under the root of your sdcard or you ext-sd. To remover the drivers:
If you are on Windows 7/8:
Hit the "Start" button on the keyboard, and when the homescreen (Windows 8) or the Start dialogue (Windows 7) pops up, type in "Add or remove".
Hit enter on the highlighted option, which should be "Add or remove programs". (Note: You may have to go into the settings tab if you are running a search on Windows 8)
This will show you a window where all the apps that are currently installed on your computer shows up. (Metro apps don't show up here.) Look through the list until you find your KF drivers. This should be listed as something like this: Kindle Fire Drivers
Highlight the driver and look towards the top of the window. You should see that a "Change/uninstall" button has popped up. Click on that and follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the drivers.
You're done!
If you are on an older version of Windows:
The procedure is the same, only you have to go into Control Panel > Add or remove programs to do this.

I had the Same issue found it was just stuck in Fastboot mode and Windows does not handle it well at all. I was getting a USB device not recognized error and wouldnt let me change the driver for it. To get back booting again I used

Followed the direction and everything was good.... Almost I found no matter what computer I use fastboot always comes up as a bad device. :crying:

What i did was...
1. Download KFU 0.9.9 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192818)
2. Download TWRP (http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/blaze)
3. Download FFF (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369405)
4. I rename them as "twrp" and "fff" respectively and place them in the "recovery" folder in KFU
5. I manually install the drivers
6. I check in the device manager to show me "Android Phone - Android Composite ADB interface"
7. I run the KFU
and that was all...
I check the root was complete with the https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5qb2V5a3JpbS5yb290Y2hlY2siXQ..
not visible on my pc.
Hey, I took the first step to root my kf on 6.3.2. I can no longer see the devise on my computer to do anhything else. I only loaded the utility file onto the devise and now what? I can't even delete it. Any thoughts?

So, I went through all the steps outlined by xarenmi, but it STILL doesn't recognize my kindle when I try to use the run tool.
I'm not the best with all this, so...

Hey, I finally got the google winusb driver installed (I had to do it via SDK manger) but it still recognizes my kindle as "kindle" under "other devices" in the device manager. Also the KFU will not recognize it.. period. just nothing and I'm getting really fed up.
I have followed all instuctions to the T and I am still having issues.
I know this has been covered thoroughly in this forum multiple times, and I have really tried to read as many threads as possible before asking.
I rooted my device months ago and finally got a Nexus 7 and want to give my KF to my kids but wanted it stock first. I must have done something in TWRP that removed my bootloader.
I have tried the unbrick tool, I ordered a factory cable from Skorpn (awesome work btw) and by using KFU, my PC can finally see my Kindle.
The problem I'm having is that none of the commands are working and it looks like the bootloader is either bad or completely gone.
It used to turn on and the logo stayed bright. After I used the factory cable it now turns on, blinks, and goes dim.
All the drivers loaded correctly and KFU see's it online.
When I try to reinstall TWRP through KFU it downloads, but is stuck at waiting for device.

After reading further, I think I formatted too much and wiped the SD card partition. It doesn't seem like there is a bootloader at all.

I connected the factory cable and the logo is now staying brightly lit, so I assume it's in FB Mode.
I downloaded TWRP based on the link and FFF, but now I don't know what to do with them.
I went to ADB's site and installed SDK, but I'm not sure how to get the cmd portion to sideload TWRP and then FFF.
I'm doing my best to following along in the instructions and went to the ADB site and installed SDK.
I saved it to my C drive but when I try to do the following, along with "adb devices,
c:\Android\android-sdk-windows>
I get:
'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Update:
NVM, I had it in the wrong directory.
Once I got that figured out, I did an "adb devices" and no devices came back. Of course I have the factory cable connected and I'm not sure if that matters.

Ok, now I used a standard USB and it sees my device, but now the logo went back to going dim after reboot.
So it looks like my problem is fairly common, however forum searches don't seem to be helping.
It looks like I wiped too much in TWRP.
Now that I finally figured out ADB, I'm confused about the factory cable.
When it's connected ADB does not see my device but the logo is lit bright yellow. When I use a standard cable ADB sees the device but the turns on and goes dim but the logo is still there.
I've downloaded the ZIP files for TWP and FFF, but I can't seem to figure out how to side load them no matter what I do.
I'm about to give up on this.
I decided to go the Soupkit rout and installed ubuntu 11.10 and got my PC to boot to USB.
I followed all the directions but my device is always offline. The only thing I can think of is that the 3rd step says to reboot, when I reboot Soupkit is gone and I have to download it again. When I download it, I save it, drag it to the desktop and extract it there and then run in terminal, use option 1 and then option 2.
I realize forums contain a ton of duplicate posts but I really tried to research and follow all the guides before posting.
Does anyone have any advice?

Realized I forgot to add persistence to the LiveUSB drive. I'm going to try again.

Let me know if this soup kit route works. we have the exact same problem going on here... ill live install ubuntu as well, Ill try my hand here shortly, and give you feedback on my testing.

No luck with adding persistence.
I get everything to to boot in Linux, followed all the instructions, but Soupkit still does not see my Kindle.
I've tried my factory cable and a regular cable. No luck
Some has changed though because now my Kindle logo light is solid bright whereas before it would blink and dim.

Well I've had a great dialogue with myself, but I fixed it by accident.
You guys do awesome work and I know its frustrating when people ask repeat questions. I thought I had truly given it my best shot before asking, but in the end it was an accident that seem to have fixed it, that and Skorpns factory cable LOL.
Right before I got ready to pitch it in the trash I figured I would try KFU one more time even though it wasn't seeing my Kindle. Device manager saw the ADB drivers in Android device though.
I plugged in the factory cable
Launched KFU
KFU said "offline"
Tried various options until I finally saw the install permanent root with superuser (option 2)
That did the trick
I then unplugged my factory cable from both the PC and KF and booted the KF into recovery
Plugged in a standard USB
I downloaded a ROM (Hashcodes and GAPPS) and side loaded them
That did it!
I'm not sure how or why since it said it was offline but it fixed it.
Can anyone shed light on why KFU said offline but it still took a root?
Also, regarding the factory cable, I read a ton of material on when to use it and why, but not really how. What I mean is when to plug in and when to revert to the standard cable. If I missed that, my apologies.

wow im def. gonna try this seeing how we have similar issues with my kindle fire being recognized with a reg usb and online in kfu but with a boot status of unknown and then not seeing it and status being offline when i plus in the factory cable. also with the regular cables it boots to the cm10 boot logo and then with the factory cable it stays at the kindlefire orange and white cable. only thing im confused on is where you say you

how did you reboot to recovery? or this was automatic after option 2? thanks and its awesome you were pretty much able to figure this out on your own. i feel i wont have the same luck

When I unplugged the factory cable from the PC and the KF, I could have done 1 of 2 things. Powercycle the KF and hold the power button down to get into TWRP or use a regular USB to side load a ROM and then load it.

If you're getting the Kindle Fire orange and white, you haven't installed the new bootloader. Rerun KFU with the Kindle in Fastboot (using Cable) and select install FireFireFire. This will give you the bootloader to reboot to recovery.
Edit: You might as well reinstall TWRP while you're at it, just to be safe.
