Been flipping through so many threads and i cant find anything to help.....to put it short Im only allowed to go into TWRP v2.2.1, i have no OS installed, and i cant mount my SD card anymore. If i can just some how get TWRP to mount the SD card again i can then put an OS on it and use my kindle fire again. Everyone says do the update drivers fix or the Adb devices fix for the kindle fire when you see unknown device but it doesn't even get that cause you have to be able to mount it first which is the main problem in the first place. Any help would be appreciated thank you in advance
The only thing i can access is whatever menus that is in TWRP v2.2.1 nothing more nothing less
You will need soupkit to repair your mounting issue and help you with your driver problem so you can push a ROM to your sdcard to flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1850038 .

I think you might be looking to do something like this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25513169&postcount=4
EDIT: You might have to take a look in "parted" anyway. If you wiped out various partitions, your update might not flash completely because the partitions don't have filesystems on them (i.e. they are not formatted). Try the "print" command in parted and compare it with the output in the parted thread.
You might as well give the update a shot though. Fix your media partition, try to flash an update. I believe the stock Kindle Fire software will try to automatically fix those partitions anyway when during boot up.
If you can access TWRP try mounting the KF and see if it shows up as a disk drive on the computer. If so move the update.zip to the KF and flash.

thats what im going for. now i just got to find the file
after months of screwing around im shure i have wiper everything. trying the update when its done dling. i went to the twrp tread and fallowed the freenode link and an awsone dude took over my puter and got it to read the fire as a drive again. so i hope this works...
HAHA!! i couldent find a stock os to install so i tryed hellfire and it worked!!! i got my fire back!!!
I've done so much research on this and tried so many things and now I'm so confused on what to do.
I'm trying to bring this KF back from the dead. It was stuck in a bootloop, no computer would recognize it. So I soldered a factory cable..that made my computer actually see the KF.
After that I used the KFU to install TWRP and FFF. It's currently in fastboot mode. I have managed to get it into ADB a few times. Everytime I do that I get an "ACK" error.
I'm attaching a screenshot of an older verson of KFU and of my device manager as well as my .ini file. I added a line in my .ini file which you will see.
I have tried using most of the fastboot commands to reboot it into "normal" mode but it doesn't seem like it does anything.
Currently it's on the Kindle Fire boot screen (it's white & blue) and says v1.4a in the upper right corner. I've uninstalled/reinstalled drivers many times. Maybe I'm doing something wrong there.
I also tried the Kindle Fire Unbrick Utility with no luck. At this point I can't get into TWRP. I tried to mount the SD card in there last night so I could copy update.zip over but it threw an error. Something like E: /sdcard could not mount.
I have also had Clockwork recovery installed and I tried to mount the sd card in there. Similar error. Am I wrong in believing if TWRP was working I should be able to ADB in from there?
I feel like I've done a lot of research and tried very hard before making a thread..so any ideas at this point are very welcome!
Edit: It actually does boot into clockwork recovery at this point. The exact error is: E:Can't mount /sdcard
To mount your sdcard:
Boot into recovery and enter...
Code:
adb shell
echo /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 > /sys/devices/platform/usb_mass_storage/lun0/file[CODE]
And if you have to, format your sdcard FAT32 block size 4096
Obviously, by formatting your sdcard, you will lose all the data that's on it.
I need to keep rebooting/messing around until it's in ADB mode to do that correct? Or will it work in fastboot mode?
You can't use adb in fastboot.
I still can't get it in ADB mode again.. I tried ubuntu as well with no success..should I be using the factory boot cable at this point? Or should I just keep telling it to boot into "normal" (adb) mode and hope it does that one of these times? I wish I could just get the drive to show up in windows..
edit: I guess I had misunderstood before. I selected recovery mode in KFU (option 3) and then ran the stuff you told me to. this was the result: error: device not found and: the system cannot find the path specified
The factory cable probably won't do you much good.
In Ubuntu, did you install drivers and set up udev rules for adb? And are you using 32 or 64 bit?
Sorry I didn't post that earlier, I'm using windows vista- 32 bit. In ubuntu I simply used firekit. No other configuration was done. I did the jumper trick & it claimed it re-wrote the file system but it appears it didn't touch it. It did install an older version of TWRP & FFF.
I'm not completely convinced it has ever made it into ADB, everytime KFU claims it's online my internet connection is completely lost & that's where I get the ACK error.
I guess one thing I'm very unclear about- is it possible adb was completely removed? It certainly seems like it. It should load adb from the FFF screen, correct?
Just an FYI I got the kindle like this so please don't think I'm a complete moron!
Is your Ubuntu on a LiveUSB or full install? If it is a LiveUSB did you set it up with any persistence?
It is a live cd, and no- I didn't set it up with any persistence. I wouldn't be opposed to installing ubuntu if needed. I also have access to Osx (hackintosh) on the same machine, it's dual booting windows/osx.
Thanks for all your help.
do you have an 8 gig usb drive?

OSX should do. Get it booted up and PM me.
Nada, I'm headed to walmart now to get one though..lol
If you have OSX, there should be no need for LiveUSB.
Okay. PM was sent.
Format SD card
I Bricked, looped, KF. Resisted far too long just formatting the SD card and starting over. At some point that is likely your only option. Rebuilding your KF , rooting , and ROMing. Partial fixes cxan be frustrating as well.
Sadly I can't get the sdcard formatted..

Wont mount? Your the second one this week. I have done both methods factory/data reset including sdcard contents and factory/ data reset wiped sd as well in twrp the only worked fine for me only thing is my sdcard is now known as removable storage on my computer. Theres got to be a way to get that card mounted to the system or unmounted and mounted to the pc for formating
I wish I could just see the file system from my computer..nothing, and TWRP errors out.
yeah I have been working with someone else on a the same issue with no avail
---------- Post added at 05:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:35 PM ----------
Im wondering if the battery wasnt unplugged and replugged if it would force it to mount either way shutting down the system maybe windows would be able to grasp it for formatting my only fear with that is it might hand you the system partition instead
Interesting idea.. I just tried that, windows detected it- now it's showing an unknown device and it's sitting at the FFF bootloader.
edit: just tried it again, it went straight into fastboot.
Whats good XDA community?
I dont know exactly what happened (I bugged this little dude out awhile ago I've just been too lazy to fix it) but now that I want to flash my kindle fire back to the original... I cant seem to. It seems I've wiped the ICS rom I had running on it and now when I hit the power button(and dont boot into TWRP 2.0) it just loads a blank black screen. Also, I cant seem to mount my kindle via the TWRP mount option, do I need the android debug bridge for this? I changed computers recently so I dont have any of the tools that I had when flashing this the first go around(for the record I'm on a mac).
Thanks for your help, my first post so please be kind

I guess you didn't make a nandroid backup? You don't need adb to mount the SD partition though, If you can i would try a different computer because when you mount SD through TWRP you should have no problem accessing the SD on your computer and dropping a ROM or in this case the update.zip from here
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200790620
since you are already wiped, all you will need to do is rename this .bin file to update.zip and install like a normal ROM. you will then be left with an unrooted, stock version of the kindle fire (without TWRP or FFF also)
So, long story short. customer walks in with a completely wiped kindle fire. system and all. This is what i did to try and get it going
1. I ran kindle fire utility 0.9.9
2. twrp 2.6 and Fire fire FIRE!!
3. pushed custom rom through ADB to SD Card succesfully (tried to install no luck)
4. pushed stock rom through adb to sd card successfuly (tried to install this one also no luck)
when i install the roms throught TWRP i get
"simulating actions..."
"updating partition details..."
and the install bar at the bottom completes the process in less than 3 seconds.. when i attempt to reboot it says "no os found"
Kindlefire model is D01400 so it's first gen from what i read
sidenote... i am able to push files through ADB but, i'm unable to mount storage. my computer doesn't recognize it as a memory card..
any help would be greatly appreciated.. i've been searching for hours..

When you push files to the device, reboot and see if they're still there.

Thank you for responding.. yes, the files are there.
I found out what was wrong on my last attempt before i went home for the night.
On the advanced options i had the "test" check mark on.. unchecked it and problem solved.. Got it up and running.. 4 hours of research = 1 checkmark off ha.. lesson learned.
I have a Kindle Fire 2011 1st gen. I got TWRP on it and had a hell of a time trying to get a ROM flashed or anything like that. I did follow a write up on here how to root it, and it worked. But it was still kindle and just looked like android. So i tried to flash CM11.... I accidently deleted the partition with everything on it, and flashed CW11 but i used OtterX, and it wont boot. I have a fast boot cable, but I cant get the PC to recognize its plugged in so i can get anything on it and try to flash again. What can i do? How do i fix this?!? Please help me!!
It was still kindle and just looked like android? All you're doing when you flash a rom is putting standard android on it, so it should look like android. If the fast boot cable you're referring to is a custom order "factory" cable it won't let you transfer a rom, the point of the cable is for bad issues that won't let you boot back into recovery. I'm guessing you didn't delete the partition since you're wanting to copy a rom over, you just formatted it and erased the rom file, correct? Use a standard usb cable, micro b, that fits the kindle. Plug it in. Boot the kindle into recovery. Find the option in recovery to "mount usb" or "mount mass storage". This will show it on the pc as a mass storage device you can copy a rom to. If however you did the otterx conversion, in other words you didn't just try to install an otterx rom on standard recovery and partitions, then you won't have the option of using the usb mount. You will have to go through the adb push method, which I don't remember, but there are other topics on this forum that explain how to access the adb (android debug) and use the push command as well as others. Good luck and if you get it fixed be more careful next time. If you aren't familiar with how to do these processes you can easily brick your device. Read research and read again to be sure you have all the steps down!
I have been up for HOURS trying to fix it. I used a Kindle Utility Tool and rooted. It Installed some google apps after SU... At this point when using usb the Kindle would show up in "my computer" so i put cm11 on it. Tryed to flash it and it wouldnt work. I deleted something and now all the OS are gone. It says it. When j try to boot it stays stuck on the screen. I can pick to boot recovery but even when i abd push roms. Cm11 and stock kindle os it wont flasb then because of E: partitions not there.
I dont have any idea whats left to try. I really tried everything i could find.!! Now it dosent show up on "my computer" anymore... its like. Gone gone!!!!
I need to figure out a way to get it to work. I need to find out how to add partitions first i guess.... i got twrp and thats like it... i cant get a boot.img to flash. Nothing....
I need some serious help. I gotta fix this atleast back to amazon kindle os before they find out i broke it. Lol
