What is meant by CSpire? Isn't that another phone company?

Cspire is another phone wireless provider. Cspire also sells the Galaxy s3 so this is for their variant of the s3 hence the "Cspire" in the name also lets you know it isnt for the sprint s3 named D2SPR

The rooted and unrooted odin one clicks have been updated to include this build as well.

I got that, so y is it here if it's not for our phone or am I missing something?

It's for cSpire, yet, it's for the same model as our devices, the SPH-L710. This leads me to think it's compatible with the Sprint variant. I'd get a confirmation from the OP prior to flashing this on your SPRINT device.

the Cspire variant of the sgs3 doesnt have its own section or subforum here on xda. But i believe theyre able to post roms kernels ect in this section as long as it clearly states its not meant for the sprint galaxy s3(D2SPR) so people dont flash it

Yes ROMs are compatible just like the boost mobile leaks of the epic touch variant on the sprint variant and vice versa
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2

Cspires is actually SCH-L710 and is very similar to sprints. If you look around you'll see that almost no site (other than sextape's)offers support for it and most cspire users go to sprints section first. If you are on sprint do not attempt to flash this to your device.

It's actually not 'clearly' stated but I have never and will never flash a ROM that doesn't specifically say it's for my phone or it was ported from another carrier to my phone.

If a custom rom was created out of it that doesnt include radios/modems i would definitely flash. I dont evev know what LL1 is though

Not compatible with Sprint devices don't try unless you want a brick any cSpire users feel free to comment on any changes you have noticed

This has no business in the Sprint forum regardless, you should contact forum admin for a sub section request because you are only inviting disaster regardless of what you put in the Title there is bound to be some confusion.

ICS releasing in canada

http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/30/samsung-canada-ics-touchwiz-rollout/
I just saw this and thought if they would release it for thier t989(named differently there) and i think i was right. It says GS2 X. i hope somebody releases the code or something as it should be more stable than our version.
This is awesome, I'm going to do a factory restore to stock Telus and get the kernel loaded... waiting for ICS!!! WOOOO!

Update: We’ve heard back from Samsung and it looks like the rollout will start later this week: “The ICS update will be available this week and will continue rolling out to devices and carriers throughout the quarter.”
I guess you have to wait, or you might be in luck and get it.
These people just keep making these stupid threads. Can we not comprehend/understand that there is already a thread for ICS talk?
So we can use the Canada ICS on our devices?

Telus is the only Canadian carrier to carry the S2 X.
Nice I wonder if their pics build is better than at&T's I'm guessing it is with less bloat

Ok...maybe you guys don't understand what it takes to manage a major forum or even to moderate, but it isn't for you to decide if it will get noticed or not. There is already a thread for this type of talk and it has been linked. Hopefully I am not the first person to report this post, please guys...everyone do your part. If you see a post out of place report to the post and correct the offenders. There is not room for anything else

I've done it for a few years (23 on & off fwiw). It's not a fun task balancing what the users want vs what's actually good for the community vs what generates revenue.
Honestly though, it's mostly busywork taking care of reported threads. j/k
Yet another ics thread, guess some people are better than others and are subject to ignore what's been said a million times.
Anyway ics been running on the T989 via SR leak for a while now... Its not even that serious anymore

Jelly Bean 4.1 being moved to AOSP Tree!

This is hot from Jean Baptiste Queru and the CM teams Google Plus accounts! Jelly Bean is being merged! This is great news as that means source based Roms and customizations can start being made and also that an official actual release OTA for any stock or stock-rooted Galaxy Nexus devices should be right around the corner!
Let the buttah begin!

The Sprint GNex isn't an AOSP-supported device in the same way that the GSM model is. Even at that, the GSM images won't be posted until the GSM OTA is ready to go. Pushing to AOSP is a good indicator that the OTA is coming very soon, but they're not the same thing.
Pushing 4.1 to AOSP means that custom ROMs can really take off for toro (VZW) and toroplus (Sprint) devices. It doesn't necessarily mean they'll be getting OTAs any time soon though. Verizon and Sprint now need to work on the OTA and do their testing before you'll see it officially.
Awesome! Can't wait to see what's different between the Google io and the aosp they pushed! Yay!

Not really, but you can be like Verizon and pull the binaries from your phone and build that way. It seems like the 4.0.4 versions work ok and will be updated once Sprint and Verizon release updates.

Possibly. As far as I know Google really focuses on GSM hardware first. But they have a good relationship with Sprint so while you might not get it at the same time as us Maguro users, I'm betting you ToroPlus people will have it ahead of Toro users. And that really only applies to those who won't just flash it anyways

Sprint won't get these blobs
However, you can use all of them except the APKs (libs associated with them) and ril libs. I know, not very helpful
Edit: let me rephrase. I won't say never, because it could be added to AOSP at any time. Hence the placeholder device tree for it.

Truth. In actuality you are right and only time will tell. The reason why I get a good feeling about the Toroplus is that the way its seemed to me (and I could be very wrong) is that Sprint has let Google run the Nexus phones found on sprint when it came to updates. They even support Google Wallet when almost no one else does. It seems to me like Sprint is putting less obstacles in Googles way for Nexus (Nexii? Or is that the singular and Nexus the plural?) updates than Verizon is throwing up.
Again you are right and time will tell, but I just have a good feeling about it with the ToroPlus lol

Can we root or install roms on the GS3?

My Galaxy nexus just died. I dropped it and cannot read the sdcard inside it. I tried CWM recovery, and it gives me io errors when trying to flash it..
I have 3 options:
Repair, get the S3 or wait for the next nexus if it comes out on october 29th.
What would you guys suggest I do? I really love the Nexus brand because i get all the updates directly from Google.. I also love Android 4.1.2 and I know the S3 does not have it..

you need to slow down and not post until you realize where you are. the is XDA. a place where things in the mainstream are not. that being said. we have Android 4.1.2. unlike the rest in the mainstream that don't. so just take my advice and search around the forums before creating threads of your own.
The answer is Yes, I am currently on the Cyanogen 10 Nightlies ... Everything works great aside from some random screen artifacts in youtube and the overall very functional and worth the dabble.

Well, technically it's not out for AT&T or Verizon or TMO.
But it is officially out for Sprint now I think. Released a day or two ago from what I read.
But most or all of the GSIII's have 4.1.2 available via custom ROM installs.
Really? Your title can't be serious. 1. Your on XDA. 2. You made mention of CWM, so you know rooting. 3. One tab back leads you to all GS3 development - I'm assuming you found your nexus rooting info on here so you're well aware of how the site is organized.
Is it April 1st again? There's another thread asking about rooting tutorial.

The spirit of Open Source is to share your knowledge and files with the rest of the world so they can improve on what you do when possible. This is also my philosophy and I would never compromise that!

Do not use my work if you cannot give proper credits!
Consider this your permission! Please do not PM me asking if its OK to build off this ROM. Permission granted!
However this does not include my CleanROM series of ROMS. Please do not use those without contacting me first!
This ROM is not a CleanROM. Its a stock rooted and all yours!
CSC Files are the files that tell your phone what kind of phone it is. For example; if you use the Verizon Patch files then this will convert the ROM to the Verizon version (sans the data icons) and allow you to access the Verizon Apps in the Play store. It will also set the APN automatically, etc...
This patch also has the correct RIL files and correct APK files, etc... To work with the Verizon Radio....
The patch in the OP can more than likely be applied to any 7105 ROM but I cannot assure you of that.
Please hit Thanks :good:

I plan on it. Posted stock rooted so I can get some feedback. I got screwed by Verizon. I bricked my first Note II, so they sent a refurb. The refurb is one of the phones that doesnt play well with ACE. I cant get the damn GPS to lock. Thats the problem VZW folks have with Ace. Granted only a handfull but now I am one of them
But yeah, I plan on using this as the next ACE Base.

Is there a T-Mo patch? If you have one it should be fine. Or just use the AT&T patch and program your APN and it would be the same.

Oh, then flash the AT&T Patch and key in your APN's. I think that should do you.
Or just flash the ROM as is and key in your APN's.

YEAH! But the good news is, I think I can fix it software wise. Its in services.jar :highfive:
There are references to specific verizon settings in the Verizon ROM that are missing in the AT&T / International bases. I think... THINK I can make it work.

Ummm.... Well... Pretty much the same honestly, some features, depending on locale could be different. But the devices are electrically the same so the ROMS are interchangeable.
I see huge improvements on performance. Navigation is faster. Less heat issues. I am yet to realize the impact on the battery. But overall looks good.

Been using this just over a day (coming from 4.9) and haven't had any issues @ all. Still @ 63% and pretty smooth.
Thank you for taking the time to throw this together for us.

Seeing as how the Sprint, Att, and Verizon S4 got tgere updates in consecutive days. We should be getting it tomorrow Apps to SD and wifi calling

I really hope we do. But why are we last? I remember last year the S3 got the JB update from t mobile really quickly. I was on MetroPCS at the time (i know it sucks, but i needed unlimited everything).
I winder what were getting in the update it seems everyone got different stuff.

I mean the only way to get apps to sd is use a non tmobile rom. Tmobile roms are the only way to get wifi calling. See where im going with this?

Better be careful. I've heard Samsung is starting to lock the bootloader in the new firmwares.

Those s4 variants were also shipped with locked bootloaders.
In case you don't have it yet, call record. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2344674 Verified working by a buddy of mine, I'm using a rom that already has call record.

Funny. Welcome to XDA.
...And no update. T-Mobile S3 got its 4.1 update weeks after Sprint got theirs.
Bout ready to say screw tmobile and jump over to Verizon. They always get there updates first.
Sent from a far out Galaxy!
I'm confused. I already have Wi-Fi calling.

I disagree here. I had an HTC thunderbolt before the S4 and it took them forever to get 4.0 eventhough every similar phone already had it on other carriers.
With all the custom ROMs out, really? A *lack* of an update is reason to switch carriers?
Obviously, I'm not putting enough weight on my ROM when picking a carrier.

And lets not even forget the Galaxy Nexus fiasco.....
And, we didn't get it. I chatted with t mobile and called them and they all said no updates around this time.
This is my shocked face.
