Anyone have radio's 1.09.01.0622 and 1.09.01.0722? I've Tried 1.09.01.0312, 1.09.01.1111, and I think the other one was 1.09.01.0320. All giving me -105 to -120 dBm. Wanted to try these other 2 out but all the links I can find for them are dead! So... Who's got em? Thanks in advance...

I think you will find that -105 to -120 will be the result in the other radios as well. I have tried all the above and am just using the .320 radio because all the radios I tried did not improve my signal strength. Mine ranges from -95 to -115 most of the time at home, and improves slightly when I leave the house. If I still had the other radios I would upload them for you just to give it a shot but they didn't help me at all. Best of luck if someone still has them for you.

I know, I don't have much hope that they will help me at all but not trying will give me nothing. The worst that can happen is I have what I have now. I'm in a straight up dead zone!

No, that would be awesome if you could. I thought I had/tried this radio but I don't have it and thinking back I might have went from .0312 to .1111 and back to .0312 and never tried the .0320. Who knows? lol Definitely worth a shot though! I'm pretty consistently stuck at -105.

I am just trying to understand why everyone is so afraid of the new radio and won't post it?
It was specifically told not to be released. We have the roms, we will have the radio in due time.
because it improves the radio soo much you pick up alien communications. most likely it will be classified top secret by the government men in black never to see the light of day.
Or perhaps its the reason the OTA was pulled...

I activated my phone yesterday and my signal is weak and very spotty. Sometimes I can get as high as 4 bars, most times 1 or none. If I can't get something to boost the signal, I'll have to sell my phone and look for something else. Is there anything sold or any mod I can do to boost my signal? Many thanks, for any help I can get.

Have patience with me. This is my first smartphone. I don't know what a radio is in this context and who and where can I find this Mr x thread?
ok I now know what a radio is, but is a hacked version better than the stock version that came with my phone. I just got it yesterday and I don't want to mess anything up. I don't know enough about this stuff to fool around with it just yet. I am trying to learn so that I can IMPROVE it's functionality. Notice improve, if it will not work better than stock, what's the need to change anything?

Radios give different mileage depending on your location. Which is why the above poster suggested trying different radios because in your particular area you might get better reception with a radio other than stock. You'll need to have your phone rooted in order to flash new radios.
Thank you for the quick reply. If I can't find a hardware solution, I may gather the courage to try a new radio. Is this the software or is it firmware, that I need for the T989?

I'm not sure what that list of files is but whatever it is, it's not applicable to our phone either way. The galaxy s2 they have listed is the I9100 which is the international version. We are sgh-t989 and any software or firmware is not cross platform.

No, I am in Appomattox, VA. I live in the county, not the actual town. I know for sure that I am 7 miles from a Novatel tower. I get mostly a signal with 2 to 3 bars, that's between -100 and -92, respectively. I an using a U727 data stick on Ntelos 3G network. It wasn't always that way. I used to get practically no signal, until I cleared all the trees on my property.
I got the link in my last post from the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426001
and it says at the top of the page that it is for the SGH-T989 series, that would make one believe that our phone is supported by it. I believe that it was derived from the SGH-T989D to be exact.
Someone please chime in, if I'm wrong. I have been getting, what I believe to be a lot of contradictory info here and for a newbie such as myself, that will only impede my progress and send me scurrying post haste to some other "authority" on the subject.
There does not seem to be anyone here who will correct faulty procedures. I understand that no one here is liable for bad advice, but believing that many here are proficient at modifying these devices, people come here to seek advice.
I need to increase my signal, either by hardware or script, can someone please help me resolve this issue?

you don't really need to because you can always return everything and get out of contract without ETF since you just activated. Just saying you can use it as a trial run and if reception sucks you can go somewhere else. You can try the radios but for what it's worth, might not produce any results.
You can probably safety use any of the ones in the link you have, and I think anything that screws up is recoverable. Any screwup will just mean you get no signal at all. Just flash back to the stock one which you can easily find with search.

No I am not in a contract. I would have to sell my phone, which I really like. I am using T-mobile prepaid. I bought the phone on eBay for $500. It has a clean IMIE as verified by T-Mobile Customer Service. I have bought over $125 in accessories also and would lose too much selling everything.
So I prefer to try to resolve my weak signal dilemma before taking such drastic action. Is there anybody out there that can help?

Still same problem, anybody Please help.
I'm not sure if this is the right board to post this in, but here goes. I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. I was running AOKP Milestone 5 and Franco Kernel Build 185 and things were great. Then yesterday I randomly didn't get any signal when I got back to my house. Before I always got enough signal to make calls and text. I thought that was weird, so I did a complete wipe and upgraded to AOKP Build 38 and Franco Kernel 185 again. I still had no signal. Thinking I messed something up in the process, I reverted back to a month old Nandroid when I had no problems, still nothing, after this I went back to AOKP Build 38 and Franco Kernel 185 again. I tried reflashing the 4.0.4 radio's before and that didn't work either. It has to be my phone because my parents and sibiling both still get signal fine with their non-smart phones. I'm willing to unroot my phone if it means getting service again. I've never really encountered this problem and would love it if anyone could point me in the right direction to fixing this problem. I took two screenshots of my phone status for you to look at

Check Logcat and check dmesg from inside the phone. This will help show as to why to begin to narrow down.

If it's the phone and won't get a signal after what you've tried.. I would say either a bad sim (not sure how the sim could just go bad) or.. hell, radio failure? Sounds strange. Usually when people lose signal rebooting or airplane mode works..

Well, I use to get a couple bars around my house. Now I get none. I am looking at bars. Now I have an X and am unable to send/receive texts and calls. I am thinking about unrooting my phone, going back to stock and locking my phone to see if it's a hardware thing.
Pretty sure it's a Gnex thing. I just bought mine and out of the box 4g only connect for 2 minutes then just goes out for a long time

There's a pretty good amount of info on them there. It seems to depend on your area as to witch will work best for you however for me the lf9 seems to be best and lg8 is pretty good as well. Just have to experiment yourself in your area.

There's lots to read if you Google it but to my knowledge basically there the same. The modem does handle data and radio handles cell reception but there's no way to have different versions for modem and radio. I could be wrong but I'm sure someone will chime in and let me know if so.
Best thing to do in my opinion is just try the different radios and run the speed test and see what you get for your area. Different areas different modems are gonna be better.
If I helped hit thanks and if I can help anymore let me know.

So far to me flashing all 4 radios numerous times, not too much of a difference. LF9 and LG8 seem to be the best. Then again, hard to tell, Sprint having network issues.

Did you come from an HTC phone? I came from an Evo 4G, and I got used to the term "radio", too. I think modem is just the word Samsung prefers, whereas HTC used the word "radio", but the actual function is exactly the same.
I've never really experimented with radio basebands, but friends of mine are at the same carrier as I am and they can actually receive a solid 3G connection everywhere with a cheaper phone and I can only receive like one bar of 3G signal and that bothers me. Is it possible to fix this with a new radio and if so; which one should I use?
Thanks in advance!

I'm using XXLA2 right now. XXLA2 is a later release I guess (as you count the baseband date with the L/H. Don't know if you ever tried XXLA2?
Try them all out for a bit and be sure to get the app GetRIL to match the RIL and Baseband. It took me a bit in the US but since I did the process I get almost double the signal.

LA2 is outdated. LH1 is a "jb radio". As someone suggesties, check with GetRIL of baseband and RIL match.

Thanks man, I've never really done any research into which radio to use, but I'm glad there are people who did. Will flash the radio tomorrow morning and post the result of it tomorrow evening. I really hope this radio will get me a better signal.
Well, the reception is a little better, but not much. Only problem: the radio bricked my sms function. Does anyone have a PROPER solution for that problem? It seems that it's quite a common one and I can't seem to find a fix.
try them all and see which works best for YOU
