I was wondering if there was a way to unlock this device without the power button, I have heard using a different launcher helps this. I am using nova prime and doesn't do it. I have tried tap tap and other sensor activated apps on the market with no luck. Any ideas?

is there any way to disable volume buttons to wake the phone up when using no screen lock?
I've tried to modify qwery.kl and utms_jordan.kl but no luck.

Is it just me or does that sound like a rather mean-spirited reply? For what it's worth, I've never heard of a Defy that wakes using the volume button - wouldn't mind that functionality, though. Perhaps we could swap?
I only wanted him to know the volume buttons don't wake up the phone with CM7.
Can it be an option somewhere in Froyo?
no, I wasn't trying to be rude.
volume buttons wake the phone only when no screen lock is on.
actually to turn off screen lock I have to use the app called 'no lock'.
in this case pressing the top turn on/off button wakes the phone and no extra swipe nor pin asked.
however the same thing what volume button do but this never happend until I flashed the nordic one.
as I mentioned I was playing with the *.kl files but didn't make any changes.
what I'm trying to do is lock/unlock the phone by the turn on/off button only.
I just noticed that while in pandora, the pandora app devs decided to throw the menu button on the main bar with the home/back/app list buttons. When my phone auto locks or i manually lock it, the menu button is on the lock screen and if i tap it, it unlocks. I use swipe unlock so not a huge deal for me, but i need to test with other methods like pattern and password.
Attached is screenshot.
[Edit] i tested it with all other unlock methods and the button doesnt work. It is still there on lock screen, but only unlocks the phone on swipe.
Feature of the os. All apps with the menu button down there do it, even the XDA app. Not a security issue, doesn't work when you actually have a security method set up.

So what's that menu button on the bottom right for in the lock screen? When I press it, nothing happens. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not.
You can't explain that. Really, anyone know?
It's just a weird bug. If you have an app running that has the menu button (not ICS-optimised), and lock the screen, the menu button also appears in the lockscreen as well. I think they already fixed this in the latest OTA though.

if you have an app open that uses a menu, you can access it directly without unlocking the phone if you do not have a pattern unlock.

I don't think so. Whenever it appears and I press it from the lock screen, nothing happens.
do you have a pattern or pin unlock? based on your screenshot id say you do.
That menu shows up using certain launchers, such as ADW.
Is there a method, an app or a tweak to unlock the screen with home button? I don't want to swype the screen I want to use the home button to unlock it.
This option it's available on Cyanogenmod and I thought if there is this even on our galaxy note 2.
bump!
Some custom roms have this functionality available. If you are rooted, you could also install something like Xposed Additions to change behaviour of keys in different phone states. So basically you would make the menu key to a power key when screen is off and disable the screen lock. Or did you mean that you'd like to wake the device with the power button and then press menu to unlock a lockscreen?
I want to use Power button only for turning ON my 7T. No root.
What is the best app to do so?
Touch or gestures.
Which app(s) you are using to -
1. Volume up & volume down
2. Set volume profile on
Silent, Vibrate or Ring
3. Show/open default Power menu
3a. Advance Power menu to boot into default recovery.
Tried many apps.
Which worked best for your 7T?
Not root yet. For next 2 months not rooting.
No reply?
Ok!
Just in case someone else is looking for the same.
I found an app -
Assistive Touch for Android
Using since last 5days
It does more stuff than what I want it to do.
Going great.

I don't really get what you're looking for. But I'm using Fluid Navigation Gestures.
Try it for yourself. Or just use stock?
