Hey guys...
Coincidently, I installed MS3 just the same time with panosha 2.6, and I started to notice battery draining very fast... Normally if I fully charge before I go to bed at night, after I finish work the next day, I normally have between 50-60% left.... but since my upgrade, the battery drains alot faster, today at 4:30pm the battery was completely flat....
Is this a MS3 problem? or is it Panosha 2.6 problem?
Also, do you notice also that from 100% down to 75% battery drain slower than when its from 25%-0%?
i'm using duttys v3.2 and had the same issue. I was lucky to get a day out of it. I have since uninstalled and am back to about 2.5 - 3 days again.
MS3 does have a nice look and feel but lacks in the music player which is one of the things i use the most.
I find the battery for me drains from 10 - 0 the fastest. have known it drop from 10 - 2 in under 2 mins I think is the record so far
so by "it" do you mean duttys 3.2 or MS3?
MS3 have the widget for WMP... which i find quiet nice.
I can also confirm it is MS3, I am on dutty 3.3...
MY MS3 is not draining me dry. works like a charm for me.
Spb MS3 doesn't drain my battery.
But I'm using the stock rom 1.56.
I think it's the combination with Dutty roms.
Had it installed on an XV6800. I think it was OK on SMS 3.0, but when I updated to 3.0.1 suddenly starting having random severe battery drain. Not every day but often enough to be a concern. 100% to dead in less than 8 hours. De-installed and now am sitting at 90% after 5 hours with moderate usage. Makes you wonder ...
Same here, stock rom on tilt and severe battery drain. I did have m2d installed as well uninstalled it still battery drain. Uninstalled all other spb apps and testing now with only ms3 installed. Not looking good.
I've been using SPB Mobile Shell 3.0.1 (6501 build) and I'm currently experiencing massive battery drain (10% every 10 minutes!) on my X1. I read this but it's still no good for me, but it might prove useful for someone here:
My observation: the problem occurs randomly, immediately after upgrading an already installed app. I *think* something gets out of sync in the Windows Mobile kernel.
I have found that it can be cured (I posted this somewhere else ages ago, but can't remember where):
- put the phone on charge until it shows 100%
- *with the phone still on charge* soft-reset
- repeat if the phone doesn't show 100% when it comes back up, until it does
I did that yesterday, & the drain seems to have gone away. It always worked on my MDA Compact II, & now on my MDA Vario.
Hope that helps

Hey,
Wonder if you guys would mind doing me a favour...
When you next go to recharge your phone, go to Settings -> About Phone -> Battery -> Battery Use and note down the percentage beside Android.
Then try disabling Swype for a day and do the same process. Tell me if the results are any different.
I'm seeing a pretty big jump in the amount of battery Android uses when I have swype installed... in the area of 10-20%. And my battery lasts about five hours less.
I've just tested again over the last two days. Yesterday, with Swype installed, Android was using 43% battery. Today, without Swype, it's at 21%...
If you're seeing the same issue, vote for it and leave a post on the swype forum:
http://swype.uservoice.com/forums/17482-swype/suggestions/552945-battery-drain
bump.
still consistently below 40% without swype installed. anybody else try it?
if you text a lot i suppose it's because the word prediction that swype uses is different to that of the touch input
for example the touch input requires a lot of processing power to constantly make caulculations based on every letter you type.
perhaps swype does this less meaning that when you send a text or write an email less processing power is used resulting in more battery?
are you a heavy typer?
No, not at all. The day I noticed the unusual Android usage stats I had sent five short emails and three texts.
It seems like it's draining power even when I'm not using it.
Battery life seemed to drop sharply from the second I started using it. Seems like there's a bunch of other people out there who've noticed the same thing, but only anecdotal reports so far. Nothing concrete.
in that case dont use it then
it is after all a beta
perhaps the software is sending data over the internet which is using up battery?
Yes, but I want to use it, because it's great. Therefore I want people to vote for the issue so that they'll fix it
dial *#*#4636#*#* and you'll get a hidden menu.
select battery history, and in first dropping menu select partial wake usage, and you'll find out what is draining your battery.
I have the calendar issue, but with installing task manager the problem is partially solved.
when i turn phone on, i open calendar and then kill it, and there is no more battery draining by calendar.
but even with that done my battery lasts about 20-24 hrs, with wifi on all the way...
yeah, I'm aware of the calendar/flickr issue, this seems to be related solely to Android's power usage with swype installed.
Tested it today...without using wifi all the time, but just occasionally, 2 days without any problems

I'm not asking for figures on overall battery life.
Swype's battery usage is grouped in with 'Android' under battery usage. So, what I'm looking for is for people to check if the percentage for Android usage is higher with swype installed than without it.
With swype installed, the Android figure on my battery usage page is consistently over 40%
Without it, it's usually under 30%
To be honest, I've not noticed any decline in battery usage whatsoever. I am totally loving swype though, its truly awesome

tried swype... as I cant spell it's pointless!! I did not notice any battery improvement .. but then you have to look at the ROM , what you use in the background , widgets etc....
Tried Swype (buit-in the Samsung Teos i5800, along with the regular keyboard) and noticed 20% battery drain in 4 hours (device was fully charged yesterday evening, so I started the day with a 100% battery capacity).
Before using Swype, the battery reaches 80% generally at the end of the day, not a couple of hours after the device boot !
I'm switching back to regular azerty keyboard !
I was wondering why last 2 days maybe my phone's battery was just draining too quick.. I don't have dev edition regular retail and I ran Wakelock Detector and Google Maps turned out to be battery hog.. even samsung push service, even what's app which I never actually used so I will get rid of it.
Greenify without root can't hibernate maps. Is anyone having similar behavior? I did factory reset right after lolipop came out.
Anyone can suggest anything? love the phone but sometimes the battery drain is just making me mad lol
PS. on this screenshot I have not used maps I think within like 2 days, google now was turned off completely as well.
Hi there,
I recently updated my Pixel C to Android 8.1 via ADB with the OTA Image and I'm facing a huge battery drain on wi-fi. I already wiped the Cache via recovery, without any effect.
What I'm missing is the Option to Keep Wi-Fi activated only when charged ("Keep WiFi on in Standby")? Did Google change something here?
Any suggestions?

I just started experiencing the same thing. Oddly, it will be fine when I first take it off the charger. The drain will be insignificant for many hours. Then, I use it for a while and put it back to sleep. After that it will drain like 60% over 8 hours. I can't figure it out. GSAM doesn't show any apps keeping the tablet awake. It also shows that the tablet was in deep doze the entire time it was draining. Weird.
Quick question. Do you have the official keyboard accessory? Just a hunch here, but I decided to not have the keyboard attached to my tablet for the last day or so, and so far, no battery drain. I wonder if the tablet just isn't cutting off the flow of power.

I've been experiencing the same battery drain, initially intermittent but now more regular, and also suspected the keyboard. At first it only seemed to happen if I had the keyboard attached for use, i.e. tablet 'up', but now it's doing it with the keyboard shut against the tablet too.
Will try leaving the keyboard completely unattached and see how I get on. Really annoying as the battery life has always been so good and now I've got no idea whether I'll be able to use the tablet when I pick it up!
I went without the keyboard for two days. No drain. I am now back on the keyboard and all has been fine for two days now. Knock on wood.

I had a similar issue which took forever for me to figure out. Im rooted and was using Magisk (16.3). I switched to SU and problem solved.
Gboard uses significantly more battery than any other application. I have factory reset twice and turned off all adblockers but still, it drains battery like crazy. Does anyone else have this problem?

Same here. No Gboard usage when I check battery levels. But Running Services shows a ton if memory being used:

Hey Elwood,
I just wanted to drop you a line to say that I've noticed this too. 18% drain for me by GBoard since installing it.
Can you tell me if you found a resolution or killed it off?

I never could find out why, tried a few keyboards but ultimately settled on the stock lg keyboard. It's a bummer, I've used gboard for years. My battery life has significantly improved though, so it's not just a reporting glitch...gboard really was killing my battery.
Funny you mention this because during the last couple of days it did feel like my phones battery died quicker than before. Never really gave it much of a thought till I saw this thread and checked myself and bam 35% drained by Gboard. Uninstalled right away but I liked it better than Lg own keyboard. Not sure why it would drain battery so much?
Just want to say that I too noticed the battery drain.
I am using Swift keyboard now... works... Will try gboard again in a month or so in case an update fixes the issue.
Strangely after a couple of restarts I no longer get gboard appearing on usage charts at all... Strange!
