Heads Up
If you use this program, Wotan server, there is no option to keep your user data untouched (apps and GAME SAVES) like there is with flashtool. I found that out the hard way yesterday. I just couldn't wait for the .ftf to show up.
Is there an OTA release for 2.3.4 firmwares yet? (specifically, the US Generic?)
Hi just wondered if anyone had a workaround to get the skygo app working on the Xperia arc or if this is even possible

They've been doing some work here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506967
Haven't tried it since ics beta came out so don't know how far they've got. I had the app working, but only sky news due to unlocked bl.
sinksterĀ©
I installed it from the following link the day after launch and have had it working since then.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22787449&postcount=406
At that time it was not working on rooted phones. If you haven't got a stock OS you may want to read the whole thread and see if they've cracked it yet.
Cheers I shall go for a read now

Skygo test
On my xperia arc I can get the test version to work, but not the latest release.
My arc is stock rom (4.0.2.A.0.62) and not rooted and boot loader is locked
Well i rooted my phone few days ago and installed cyanogen mod 10 on my xperia sl. Everything work fine other than all the apps was gone as well as my contact, sms and sony build-in apps (walkman, movies, gallery)
Before i started i made an backup file using sony pc companian and the file format is .dbk, but after i rooted my phone the pc companian doest seems to work so yes, i lost all my contact and etc.
Now I am just wondering is there any way for me to get back the contacts and the sony buid-in apps as mentioned above? or those build-in apps only come with the stock kernel or something? Sorry about asking noob question as I have just started rooting for the first time. :silly:
You can flash back the stock ftf.Its not necessary to flash stock kernel. If u want sony apps then forget about custom rom like cm10 based

Hi. Does stock Android and Sony version support local.prop? If no, then how can I lock apps in memory? If so, then do I need root to do that?
Yes,of course you need root
Sent from my Xperia SL using xda premium
I know that for local.prop I need, but does it work in stock roms? And if not, are there other ways to do that? With root of course..
Anyone knows?

Hi,after updating my Sony Xperia M to 4.3 Jelly Bean using Sony PC Companion,Framaroot (1.9.1) doesn't work it says failed try another exploit if available,What should i do? the Gandalf exploit doesn't work anymore after the 4.3 update,Now i'm planning to try another available exploit called Aragorn,Is it safe to use on 4.3? And if not what rooting tool should i use to gain root access again on my Sony Xperia M (C1905)
Please help.
Thanks.

All currently available root methods doesn't work in 4.3 update at the moment...
Oh ok Thanks. I guess that i'll have to wait for the new method that will work on 4.3, When will it be available?

doesn't work in xperia v 4.3 too
I hope that the devs will make an exploit that will work on 4.3 The next couple of weeks,Having no root access is a disadvantage especially for us. ( Xperia M users) Because of the low internal memory problem we can't play hd games with big data files,The solution that i found for that is rooting and Using Directory Binder from Lucky Patcher and another problem is those battery hogging bloatwares,We can't remove those bloatwares because we don't have a root access,I noticed that after i updated to 4.3,The battery drains fast,And i think it's because of those damn bloatwares.

Off topic:Hey guys i just want to share what i discovered to speed up our device
Disable animations
A hidden settings option in Android will give you access
to commands you may have never known existed. Go to
Settings, About Phone, scroll down to Build number, and
tap it seven times. You will now have access to
developer options. These special settings allow you to
do a variety of things, but they are meant for advanced
users and shouldn't be changed unless you know what
you are doing.
One tweak that could speed up your device is disabling
animations within the operating system. To do this, open
Settings, go to Developer options, and scroll down to
the Drawing option. Next, turn off the Window animation
scale, Transition animation scale, and Animator duration
scale. This will disable animations that occur when you
open, close, and switch between apps. Although the
interface will look less polished, there should be less lag
in performance.
Note:Works on other devices too.

If you don't want to wait for a root method, then just unlock your bootloader. This will make your /system partition writable, and then you can just use SuperSU to instal the su binary...

Well, Xperia M doesn't come with Bravia Engine oficially, but yes, you'll lose Bravia Engine, TrackID and Download music/video info functionality from Movies/Walkman app, along with other proprietary Sony features that I don't remember now.
BUT you can make a TA backup, enjoy root from unlocked bootloader, and when a working root method for locked bootloaders arrive, you restore your TA backup to relock your BL and get the proprietary Sony features back...
I still prefer to wait for a new root method, but there's always a method (although hard) to get root without waiting for new exploits

sorry for my mistake im using different model (I will not mention it I dont want to pollute the thread) it's almost the same, I will lose something valuable if I unlock bootloader without backup.
Let's just wait for that new exploit.

Nice but...an heads-up: I strongly suspect that as soon as you unlock the bootloader you void your warranty (actually to unlock you have to communicate to Sony your IMEI); it doesn't matter if you then come back locking again
