Hello,
first of all, i do not want offense any of authors who created all those great custom ROMs out there. Im just interested in one thing. After i downloaded and used for a while some custom ROM from forums, ive downloaded some other apps from market and i want to use them instead of those which are on original ROM. Is there any way to remove those parts of that ROM and put as default the new ones and create my own zip (for backup and comfort reasons)? So, some customizing of already custom ROM is my target

If you've already installed the ROM, then titanium backup is your friend. You can uninstall any preinstalled apps that you don't want.
If you want to edit before flashing, unzip the ROM, delete any apps that you do not want and then zip it back and flash.

So when i unzip it i can delete. Can i add apps i want to have included as well? The point is, friend of me (you wont believe but yes, hes more lame than me in this area) asked me if he can get the exact ROM with same apps as i have, so i told him that maybe i can create own ROM to share it to him..

If you have the apk files, yes. You need to zip align it though.
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
You don't have to unzip. Just use something like 7zip, double click the Rom.zip, don't extract. Then add/remove apps from system/app by dragging/ deleting apk files. You can delete other unnecessary things like ringtones and languages in the other system folders. Just don't touch system critical files.
Then close 7zip to update, no need to unzip and re zip and align etc
Some apps don't work in system, don't know why. Also need to check that the extracted system size will fit into your hboot system, otherwise it won't boot.
When meeting around with roms like this, especially important you nandroid backup before flashing if you don't already!
Never unzip to remove apps or anything else for that matter, if you unzip it, and then zip the unpacked directory you wont be able to flash it.
Just open the .zip file and delete whatever you want directly from it.
You can try total commander from market, if you would like to do that directly on your phone.

No Problem. Good luck bro. You are a braver man than me to try this. I have thought about making my own Rom because every one I try I like some things but not everything. I would be cool to combine features or implement features from other Rom's and take out the things you don't like and have one happy Rom that you created and use designed especially for you! Anyway, let me know the results and how difficult it is and maybe I'll give it a shot.
Alternatively, you can use apps like System App Remover to remove apps though you would have to remove each app individually...
or you could just open the zip file with any zip application and remove the files you want and then flash
ZIP
after unzipping and removing apps does the zip need to be signed before flashing or will it be ok ?

The latest version of Titanium Backup will colour the system apps red, so you know what you're getting into.
Avoid apps that you can't see on the apps drawer and it should be fine.
You can delete these programs from system/app in the rom zip file before you flash it.

Before removing anything form Leedroid look at the wiki to see which apps can be removed safely. You can delete apps that are not on the list but if you run i to issues you know why.
do i do this on the phone or on my pc? any special software needed?
thanks in advance
Yes.
To delete the apps from the zip you need special software like winzip or winrar, high tech stuff.
Just go to he /system/app/ directory and remove what you don't want and know it's safe.
And for example, if you want to make your life harder use ADB via recovery.
There are other methods too, if you are not satisfied with the zip editing.

Ok cool. I had never opened rom's zip file before, didn't realise I could 'play ' with it like that
Will experiment later, after a back up!

I'm not sure if it's the best practice, but I always trim my zip files without actually unzipping them (right click unzip).
You actually have an alternative if you're already installed and suddenly feel to lazy to wipe your phone. Get titanium, then go to the list of apps, long press, then choose "force remove app".
Although I'm not sure if it will cause any conflicts with your ROM.
Safety first!
I've been using this tutorial for removing stock apps.. works perfectly..
Is there any way to unzip a ROM, and add the APKs for the apps that I want? Like for instance, a ROM may not come with Google voice, so I wanna add that in and make it like a system app. Is this possible, or do I have to just download it, along with the rest of the apps I want?
Sent from my rooted MIUI Dinc2
I'm not quite sure but there's a program that is supposed to zip the rom into a .zip and do the opposite so I don't see why you cannot unzip a rom, add the apk's u want and then rezip and flash. I would be careful though these developers put alot of work into these roms so who knows you could accidentaly remove something crucial to the system, look into the Android software developement area, there's alot of information on how to make roms and such. I tried learning what I needed to to make a rom but got lost about 3 hours into reading lol. In the main forum area under android developement/hacking should be a noob corner somewhere
What's the point of doing what you're asking anyway? Just to have all your apps installed as you install the rom?
Sent from my Incredible 2 using Tapatalk
yeah, so then I don't have to go find them. Lol more of a vanity thing. I'm not worried about taking stuff out, just adding to.
Sent from my rooted MIUI Dinc2
You don't have to unzip the ROM if you have winrar or 7zip right click on the ROM open as archive find system/app put the apk files in that folder close the ROM zip out and then do as you normally would to flash the ROM it will instal what you add
You can adb pull the .apk files you want them add to the zip it isn't suggested to unzip sometimes it corrupts the zip file

That's a good suggestion. Can't you also just do a batch backup with titanium and then do a batch restore once you flash your new rom?
Sent from my Incredible 2 using Tapatalk
Yeah, but then there's the long process of letting the apps install and all that... its just a pain. I mean, I don't mind doing it, I was just asking if it'd be easier to do that
Sent from my rooted MIUI Dinc2
I used to do this in the past to remove and install Apks before flashing a new rom. Kind of personalize it for what I wanted and what I use. I haven't been doing this lately though. I just do a batch restore with Titanium backup now. It's pretty quick, and has worked well.
I have unlocked bootloader, rooted, and i am running simonssense 3.5 v2. It comes pre loaded with a2sdgui but im not sure how i can remove all the apps i dont want. Can anyone help me with this? And can someone tell me how to remove my original stock rom? Its taking up WAY too much space.
Thanks

You can use Link2SD to remove any apps you don't want, and link the ones you want to keep to your SD card, so they take up less space. Also, you can't remove a ROM, since that would make your phone useless. You can, however, flash a different ROM, the process for which has been described countless times on about fifty million threads and forums, and a guide for which is located in the index (you could use the guide for installing CM7, for example, to install any ROM you would like to, the process is identical for most ROMs). Also, a thread on what apps you can safely remove.
To get rid of the apps that you can't delete in the application settings you need to use a file manager like es file manager, astro or root explore, go to system/app and delete the apps you do not want, just becareful of what you delete you do not want to delete an apk that your system needs. Hope this helps

There are 2 points I need some help at.
1. Is there a possibility to remove (automatically) some apps after each ROM install? Even with a striped ROM, there are some apps that I don't need or I want replaced.
2. How can I make a pack of my personal apps that should be automatically installed (silent install, no confirmation for each app)?

I dont think there is.. if you really wanna do that you gotta run some sort of script through terminal or something..

1: u can manually delete them with root explorer
2: either with titanium backup or make a zip and flash through recovery
You could also open the update.zip in WinZip remove the things you don't want and drag the files or .apk into it.
