Just updated my phone via the official OTA, before the update I had a pin lock, and was using Swype Keyboard. Now with the new update the pinlock uses your keyboard instead of the stock HTC input, the problem is Swype keyboard force closes before it even starts (probably not compatible) so am just stuck on the ring unlock and cant use my phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Not rooted, Stock JB.. Thanks in advance!
run the jelly bean ruu and do a clean install that should do it as i think it wipes the user partition and factory resets

If the Ruu option isn't possible or doesn't work, can u factory reset from boot loader?

Use an USB OTG cable and an USB keyboard or if you have USB debugging set to "on" you can remove swype with adb.

Thank you all for the replies, fortunately I fixed it on the day.. used my OTG cable and my physical keyboard and was able to type the pin from that then immediately deleted Swype.. Lucky escape, now I can enjoy Jelly Bean
Still believe it's a huge flaw from HTC, can't see why the input method is that of the keyboard we are using. The Sense 4 had a HTC input regardless of what keyboard you are using (3rd party or not).
If anyone knows how to turn this off, please let me know!
Thank you all once again.

I'm running random ROM hawk v.3 lite. I just recently upgraded from .2 and went back to stock before installing. I can't switch which keyboard is used. First it was stuck on Swype. Then I installed other keyboards. I could switch but it would just return to swype. After resetting I would get the same behavior but with 8pen. Any idea what to do?
I had that or similar prob when the other keyboards had been instlled on sd card. Worth a shot?
All on internal storage.
Are they staying checked in locale n text options or getting turned off there? If u don't want to use it, mebe disable swype as temp workaround until someone in the know responds

Are you checking the keyboard you want AND setting it as the input method in Locale?
They are all enabled in Locale but switching in the input selection doesn't work.

If you're on a custom ROM, just reflash the ROM. If you're on stock then I don't know.

I use original stock.
Really no way to find an update with my original SystemUI ?

You need to have someone with the same phone as you post a stock SystemUI.
Sent from my GingerFusion Revo using Tapatalk.
installing insecure adb and setting the correct permissions for the systemUI (which is causing your force closes - if you used it on a compatible rom) is the only way i think...
Thank you for the help guys
I have no foce close. I have a window that "input mode".
It is only when the SIM card is in the phone
A friend of mine helped me install jellybean on my desireHD. (JellyTime_R9)
1. Now when I connect my phone to PC via USB cable, I only get the option for data transfer. Earlier I could use the internet pass through and use the PC's internet connection through phone.
2. I would also like to have the HTC sync back? I searched a lot but couldn't locate the .apk file for the same.
Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Arun
You can have those only on Sense ROMs. JT is not Sense.

that's what I was afraid of! that internet pass through was an useful feature, but then I guess it's a trade off and have to live with it!
I'm not sure but try googling if there are some 3rd party apps that would have this functionality...
After the JB update, whenever I reboot the phone, the keyboard keeps on return to Swype, even after I have the default keyboard set to others. Does anyone else has this problem? Any possible solution? I heard that it will be fixed on 4.1.2 but its probably won't be release until next year

Yes I changed the default keyboard and every time I restart the phone it goes back to samsung keyboard. (sorry said swype before but it was actually samsung keyboard)
I am currently using another keyboard that support other language and set it to default but everytime I reboot the phone, it switch back to samsung keyboard.
I have this exact same problem, except I am trying to use Swiftkey 3. Every time I reboot the phone it returns to the stock keyboard and I have to go back in the menus and select Swiftkey as the default.

When you go to Language and Input, the default shown is the one we selected, but the keyboard is NOT the default one.
This is the link I was talking about. It could be a bug in 4.1.1 that will be fix in 4.1.2
Nvm
could be a bug in it not being installed properly, or just needing a factory reset. I've read that the factory reset fixes it, and more so that it doesn't happen to those who wiped data and such before installing a custom rom.

I did factory reset before installing this firmware.
I download the entire firmware (Stock T-mobile JB) from sammobile and install it using Odin
not happen to me. I tried to reset the phone and swiftkey is still intact.
It tends to have bugs after update in android. I suggest updating via OTA since this way does't give me any bugs. When I did update via Odin, I got bugs. Also, you should do factory reset AFTER updating, not before updating. so yeah try to do a factory reset.
Don't know what to tell you guys I tried swiftkey smart keyboard and 4.2 all stick after a reboot.

Sorry i forgot to say, I did a reset through recovery before and after updating.
Does the same thing on my phone as well, coming from a fresh Odin flash and factory reset. It is a known issue with jelly bean. I just froze the Samsung keyboard with TB as a workaround

Hello, guys. There is a "simple" fix: just to make Swype the only one keyboard. So you make root and uninstall Samsung and any other keyboards with Titanium backup))

You don't need to uninstall just freeze them.

I have rebooted twice now and each time, I've had to go into Languages/input to select swiftkey as my default keyboard.
Anyone else having similar issue?

OMG how ironic, I was just about to make a thread for that same thing.
I'm pretty sure it's a bug with Swiftkey and JB.
I've run the Sprint JB build on my AT&T GS3, as well as some custom ROMs, and they all do the same. The OS reverts back to the Samsung keyboard upon reboot and you have to reselect Swiftkey.
The only way I was able to fix it, is when I was debloating a ROM for flashing. I deleted the Samsung Keyboard and put in a stock AOSP keyboard. After that I never had the problem again.
Unfortunately I don't know what files to delete for the Samsung Keyboard once the ROM is flashed. It's easy when you have the CWM flashable ROM to manipulate it before you flash.
I am not sure if it is a Swiftkey bug or a bug in the Samsung Keyboard cause without the Samsung keyboard even installed, it doesn't have that bug.
I've had no beef with SwiftKey.

Turn your phone off and back on and see if it defaults back to the Samsung Keyboard.
I've seen in some threads people with other keyboards than Swiftkey are also having this issue.
It only happens when you reboot the phone.

Same here. No problems whatsoever with SwiftKey after reboots.
I have too.
Rooted, disabled Samsung keyboard and Swype with TiBu.
No more problems.
No issues with Swiftkey staying as my default keyboard after rebooting. Stock, unrooted Bell 4.1.1 update.
My swype default remained as it is after reboot.

Ok being as I don't have a CWM firmware flash to mess with, I guess I'm going to have to do some things manually.
So for me to disable the Samsung Keyboard, do I just need to go into the system/app folder and either delete or rename the SamsungIME.apk and SamsungIME.odex?
I don't use Titanium, so I don't have a resource to freeze an app. Plus I prefer to actually delete it if I am not using it anyway.
Also, I have the stock AOSP 4.1 JB Keyboard I had installed with my Custom Sprint build I was using, but I just injected that into the firmware before flashing. To install the APK fo that, I just basically need to put it on the internal or external SD card and in file explorer just install it that way?
Thanks.
