Hi,
I am trying to watch an 720p mkv video over MHL but the subtitles are not showing on my TV. I know that there is a general issue with that but do you know any custom ROM or any fix that can solve that problem? Thanks!
Have you tried using BSPlayer Free from the Play Store? I don't have a TV on hand to test it out, but as far as I remember, it works with subtitles over MHL. It's a really good app.
Yes I have tried it. It works only with SW decoder but it is pointless to watch an 720p movie in SW mode. I am asking about hw acceleration
Are you sure we're talking about the same app here? BSPlayer works in HW accelerated mode for 720p (and 1080p) MKVs for me.

It has been so since S2 gingerbread. If HW acceleration is used, it would only transfer the HW layer to the HDMI. In SW mode, the SW layer would be transfered. It doesn't seem to be able to transfer both.
Please note that the subtitle is always rendered in the SW layer so when HW is used, players would render the subtitle in SW layer on top of the HW layer.
I wonder if the same thing is true if Allshare Cast is used.

Hmm in my old optimus 2x I had not this problem. Ofcourse optimus 2x had a mini hdmi port and I was using an hdmi cable and not mhl... I hope they will fix it soon because this function is prety much useless for people speaking other language than English. Do you know if the problem persists also in jb 4.2?

I've used dice player recently and in settings it claims to have a mode that works with Samsung phones and hdmi. I don't have a hdmi out for my note ii yet. Can someone give dice player a go and let me know?

I tried it but for a strange reason it cannot play the 720p video on my phone. It says that " This video cannot be played" . Have you tried to play mkv video?

Anyone using any android device connected to hdmi TV to stream wireless video/screen from S3 to TV
Any suggestions? What software is required on the Android device?

You could try it with BubbleUpnp.
I am using ES File Explorer to access Movies/Music from my D-Link NAS box on the local network, I haven't hooked up HDMI, and I have only tested a few movies but seems to work ok.

What audio codec? At a guess I would say it is DTS audio, which recently became unsupported in MX Player due to "licensing issues" (same thing occurred in Dice Player too). Try to get an older apk for the app and see whether audio works if it is DTS audio.
That would be the first thing I would look at. Make sure what ever your using (app) supports the audio format your trying to play. If it does not you can simply convert the file to something else. There are many programs out there to do it.

Most support streaming via dlna type protocol. Ffound an app that does screen mirroring MirrorOp but lags.
A hw/sw solution xbounds looks amazing but no mention of availability yet.

Anyone successfully played a 720/1080p file over their network?
Ive tried all the players but just seems to stutter like crazy!
Used to use diceplayer on my HOX with the dts plugin and had no probs.
Anyone got a player/settings thats working?

VLC Direct
When you say playing over the network you mean accessing the share via dice or play stream via upnp?
I assume you mean the first. I too use dice with plugin and noticed indeed reltively frequent stuttering when acessing share from dice but using buble upnp all is fine against an xbmc server without any transcoding and dice so that is what I use and it is fine for me.
Also compared to gtab 7.7 less powerful HW I noticed wifi on note2 to be more sensible; I mean if I watch mkv covering fully the device with my palm I get problem. Of course cant really do that with the 7.7
So other than that all is quite fine on my side. I really do suspect though accessing cifs gives bad throughput somehow. I use omega 3 and cifs.ko copying stuff from a share is abnormally skow for me.

This is driving me nuts, got the 8 as an anime player since the tegra processor in the nexus played mkvs well, thought this would too. Nope, mxplayer errors outon all videos, and what is odd is the stock video player plays half of them but not all. It isnt an issue with 10bit, as it will play a 10bit cile I have but some older ones it only will play a few of them. How would I go about finding the cause and fixin it?
Try change to s/w decoder not sure if you have tried it, its default setting is h/w

For some reason h/w mode gives problems on almost all my videos. Weird glitches like audio and video being WAY out of sync and s/w mode fixes all that.

I use the archos player no issues so far with any videos.

Hi all,
I just changed my tab 7.7 for the Note 8, but I'm quite disappointed. Using the same video player (MX Player) the video freeze, or many square appear. Everytime I have to reboot my tablet before watching movie, even task killers doesn't help...
My tablet run stock ROM, I only rooted it.
Does somebody have the same issue?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
Why mx player? The default video player parts most files well.
In mx player try HW decoding
Sent from my GT-N5100 using Tapatalk 2
Have you tried BS player? I've not had any issues with that and I think it's better then mx. What file types are you having issues with?
Sent from my GT-N5110 using xda app-developers app
Thank you, I think the stock player can do it very well but I don't know I was use to MX Player.
I activated HW decoder, it's much better now.
Thank you for you help

I've recently just changed to the S4 mini and so far no complaints. I use MX player a lot to watch films etc off the internet and after using the H/W+ decoder the video plays fine but there's no audio, had anyone else had this issue or know of a fix?
Thanks in advance
Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
It just means your hardware decoder has no support for the audio codec your video is currently playing.
Would it be worth getting the codec pack that can be downloaded I think its a arm7 version it suggests.

You could give it a try - no harm in that. I think there's a NEON package as well try that
