hi all gurus,
i just installed CM7.2 ( by d33ps1x, many thanks to him ) successfully.
and now i want to know about the ROMs which are Suitable and Stable for Wildfire S ?
I searched, here but confused, please help.
thanks in advance for guidance and your valuable time.
If you had just put some time to search the forum you'd have seen a thousand of thread with exactly same or similar name and question.
There's also a thread made by me which is in "INDEX" for new people answering their questions, "LIKE THIS".
See my signature "New here thread".

Thanks very much to both of you respected members of xda-developers
For now I'm using CM10 alpha 2 from modpunk and I'm happy. Battery holds very nicely and it's so fast. Overall, not bad.

yeh, but Senior members ( Sukhjit321 and kantry123 ) advised me for CM9 Alpha 9, they know better about these ROMS and always guides us for Right thing.
May be you are not experiencing any problem because of your LIMITED USAGE, but the Seniors are always testing everything/features first, then they recommend the Stable ones. I have to respect them and their advise.
Thanks again to them.

Yeah, but I wrote you opinion about the ROM I use. I don't know what you have to have the knowledge to express their views on the ROM...
Actually it depends from user to user,
Some of us prefer sense ROMs cause of the functionality but sense ROMs cause some lag for me so I basically avoid them
CM7 was just never my choice coz of the ugly look...
CM9 and MIUIv4 are the best senseless roms i've tried but they too have some bugs like video recording and all.
CM10 has some bugs like battery drain, animation in some, and more.
My main point being If the ROM satisfy your needs and the bugs don't affect you, go for it. Everyone's needs are different for example: I rarely use GPS or video camera. And I'm so not dissatisfied with CM9. So everyone has different needs.
Just make sure you read the whole OP for known bugs and also I suggest you look towards some recent posts to find out if any user found something new about ROM.
As it goes for performance I may suggest some apps :
- RAM Manager set at Balanced and launcher locked in memory.
- SD Booster.
- Ad block
- ES Task manager: to disable startup items.

And yeah we are senior members coz' of our post count.. So you should not just blindly trust according to our post counts and research about ROM a little.

Hello everyone,
This is a pure-AOSP ROM with very little CM-style modifications. These modifications are designed to address all Galaxy Nexus users. I have modified Android only to improve the usability with minimum impact on the stock JB look. Please note that this ROM is a beta and I hadn't had a chance to test it, so you are my testers. When testers are happy, I will erase the word beta.

Why would you call it MONSTER AOSP if the ROM is close to stock with very minimal modifications?

It's a work in progress. It's not a final ROM. If you don't like the ROM... then move onto the next thread, not bash the thread.

Pretty much what I said above.... if u dont like the ROM, move on, dont bash the thread.
@OP: Thanks for the ROM. Nice to see new developers on the scene, best of luck! Ignore these people who are causing negativity, looking forward to what you bring to the scene.
But generally speaking.. people need to stop going into dev's threads and bashing their ROM which is obviously a thing they do as a hobby and doesn't charge their users. Bashing someone's ROM when you haven't even tried it causes ROM developers to not make ROMs.

thanks for your rom. pls provide screenshoots...thnx again.
thank you very much. I will provide screenshots as soon as i can get to my Galaxy nexus.
Don't give in to the hate. I've done two Roms, a theme, and an app and I'm surprised at how nasty people can be over FREE software!
Anyway... I recommend you add Trackball Alert compatibility from lilHermit and AppWidgetPicker. Both are really useful and blend very well with AOSP.
Keep up the good work and keep having fun.
Thanks a lot. Can anyone give feedback please? I mean, you kind people are my testers. I will be able to test it after tomorrow at best...
Flashed the ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492461 which uses a 3.0 kernel. It runs smooth on my device. However, if I use my phone to listen to music, my battery drains very fast (about 40%/h) although I'm not doing anything else with the device. It also gets quite warm as if it had a high CPU load. However, the CPU load is low as you'd expect. The CPU clock is also OK, most of the time it runs at 245Mhz.
I then downloaded the very same RO with a 2.6 kernel. This time, battery was good when listening to music (1%/15m) and the device stays at a normal temperature so I assume there is a problem with the 3.0 kernel. Did anybody else also encounter this? What can I do to help debugging this problem?
Personally I'd suggest to move over to a similar but better/more stable ROM. Two that come to mind are mimicry and elitemod ICS, both are great and have far less bugs than the ROM you are using. But to each there own... I'd suggest contacting the developer, either within the thread or via pm and ask him why he implemented the 3.0 kernel when it is just far to buggy to use as a daily driver? I'm not hating on him just seems as it was put in his ROM and well... not supported much thereafter.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
The 3.0 kernel isn't as stable as 2.6. If the battery drain issue is that bad then I would suggest moving onto a rom that still uses 2.6. Or if you feel lucky, go test out Andromadus JB which also has the 3.0 kernel. It might be better there. Considering you're testing this with a music app, why not try another application? Try changing the overclock settings. The unofficial CM9.1 and Andromadus are mostly in testing right now. You'd have to be willing to deal with these problems if you use those roms, and report the bugs to the authors.
I would suggest using Mimicry. It may not have all the new bells and whistles like 3.0 kernel, but at least it's stable.
For the record, the 2.6 kernel that Mimicry uses has a *ton* of 3.0 kernel patches merged into it.

Thanks for the replies! Forgot to mention that I first also blamed the audio player (Apollo) and changed to the app I used with the stock ROM but the battery drain was just as bad. So: sorry Apollo
My intention was to help the author of the ROM to track down that issue. But since I'm new to these forums I wasn't allow to reply to the original thread so I wanted to ask first if this is a known general issue of the 3.0 kernel. I'll PM the author and point him to the thread. If anybody knows a good thread on debugging battery drain issues or knows how to do this, please feel free to post links here, I'll also search further.

I have the same problem. 40%/h drainage, with either poweramp or apollo. I use CM9.1-vision-3.0-V4
Any news on this?

i think 3.x.43 is high battery drain,but 3.x.40 is better than 3.x.43

I sent the developer a PM offering help on this but didn't get a reply. I then reverted back to the 2.6 kernel which works just fine in terms of battery usage.
Still in CM9.1.0 Final

I've searched, trawled and read through so many threads and cannot make my mind up which way to turn (I'm so indecisive). There is so much choice (which is a good thing in some ways and not so good in others) but it's confused the hell out of me. I could flash various ROM's and kernels all the while having to restore my data each time and run it for a while to see if it is suitable for my needs. This seems to the moderators general consensus for those asking what the 'best ROM' is (Understandable). But this (having to flash ROM's and kernels each time) is tedious and there is always some element of risk that you could end up with a bad flash the more you do this.
So here I am asking. Please note I am *NOT* asking which the best overall ROM is. I understand perfectly well that there is no best ROM and each ROM has different functionality and features that are suited to different peoples needs. I am asking which ROM suits *MY* needs. If moderators decide that I am asking what is the best ROM then I guess I will have to try harder to argue my case.
I don't mind if it's GB, ICS or JB - obviously I would *LOVE* to have a JB ROM but it's still in its infancy and has certain issues simply because there is and never will be an official JB ROM for my phone (Thanks Sony!).
My current setup is a 2011 Arc S currently running JJ Hybrid 3.1 (still) and ArcKnight kernel (forget which build).
I am not overly interested in fancy GUI's, themes, extra functionality or overclocking, although it would nice to have them 'just so long as they don't impact on performance and stability'.
Things I want.
#Rooted with CWM is a given obviously
#As lag free as possible (It takes several seconds to launch Contacts at present and laggy key presses in the phone dialer annoy)
#Good battery performance
#Increased memory
#Bloatware removed
#Removal of or fixed/tweaked default apps (For some reason the default browser sucks CPU/battery dry and I have disabled it on current ROM).
#Smooth 720p video (is this even possible either in the FW or through a mod?)
#Good camera performance (Use a mod?)
#Status bar with quick toggles and notifications
#Good WIFI, 2G,3G/HSDPA performance (especially if 3G is tweaked as I get poor signal in some places)
#Bravia engine (1 or 2?)
#Correctly functioning hardware including LED's/Side LED/Buttons/Sensors (brightness, rotation etc)
#STABILITY (as little bugs as possible basically)
#Easy upgrade path between builds (not having to wipe data each time although I realize this is sometimes required)
#WIFI tethering
I don't care much for HDMI output but if it works it's a bonus. Things like USB OTG and USB mass storage would also be useful but not essential.
I think that's all of it. If moderators still feel this is a 'best ROM' thread feel free to contact me privately to cast your warnings. Hopefully though they will see this is a bit more specific than that and actually asks more pertinent questions rather than a blanket 'which ROM is best' question.
Thanks for reading

For me, right no, Atomic Gb 3.0 Xtreme Silencer is going to update it to 3.1 now, so u can flash it. It is the most complete ROM now for me, with almost everything u said in ur list

Hi.
While this may not be a best ROM thread as you say, its just as equally annoying. You've listed what most of us want from a ROM, and as you say you've read this that and the other then its time to pick one and flash it. If you think the process of flashing custom ROMs is tedious then learn how to mod, tweak a stock ROM to your own liking then you won't need to rely on others to tell you what to flash.

Did u read that? Flash and test yourself
We can't say, what fits you, we don't know your life. You know it the best, you should find the perfect one.
XDA is not a place, where people are slaves, stop being lazy and do something yourself aswell.
Look at ROM's overviews, features, functions, read comments (if you want to know more about the ROM) etc.
Try them, put them to the test in regular usage. Then you find one. We can't say, which one is good for you.
yeah he is right!
Atomic Gb is awesome !
xtremesilencer has done some great work to make it!

and if you want to know about a rom then go to the thread or check the feedback
dont open new new threads !!!!!
I'm on ICS because of the mobile data manager (built in, doesn't work on gb) as i have a limited data plan.
I'm right now on the xperia t rom, it is really great, the battery lasts up to two days. (3-4 hours display on, around 10h mobile data and wifi is always on).
Using the stock 587 kernel. Never had such an amazing battery life

Whilst I understand the sentiment of 'try them for yourself' and 'you are just being lazy' and 'read the comments' etc. It takes *TIME* I don't need overclocking. I don't need all the fancy themes. I don't need a ton of tweaks other than those that meet the basic requirements I have listed.
As I said whilst there is a healthy development community on this particular device, it is hard work to find the right ROM. I have to go through the list of ROMS, kernels and mods in the thread stickied in 'General' (I noticed at least one ROM is missing from that list btw). On the whole it does not tell me a lot other than name, ROM, base (GB, ICS, JB) and then you have to spend a lot of time trying to find out all the info about the ROM by going to the ROM's thread, read about it's features, how to install it, which kernels work best with it, how to fix, patch or workaround any problems found (usually buried deeper into the thread with sometimes 'hundreds' of replies so you might not know about the patches and workarounds until you actually install it and when you ask in the thread someone says it was mentioned earlier in the thread which you now have to search through) etc etc ad nauseam.
I'm just looking for a shortlist of ROM's to try based on others opinions that meet my criteria.
I do also believe that there should be a sticky that instead of ostracizing members for asking 'which is the best ROM' as there currently is (which I know can be annoying for the moderators) instead should offer opinions and experiences. Which ROM's offer which features and how well they perform and yes, perhaps even a poll.
This would be the 'go to' thread for all those people (including myself) who are stuck for choice.
But perhaps this is too much work (I guess you could say to me I should do it then and keep it updated since I am so interested in it)...
The forum is chaotic as it is. But this is the nature of forums.

Unfortunately, that's what most people would have to go through to actually find a rom that they would stick with. Luckily I tried 1 and never moved away because it was suffice. Here's a list to shorten the task, tremendously for you
Ultimate HD
Beautiful ICS
Jelly Sandwich - I've been using this one for months without changing. I'd recommend version 7.4 as it's stable and anything version 8 and above are a hassle to install and have ugly icons =/
Atomic GB - The only gingerbread based rom listed as opposed to ics so bear in mind the cybershot wouldn't work
I can't really comment on any of these roms' 'personal sufficiency' other than jelly sandwich, but these are the ones I would test if I were you good luck
well XDA is a dev site where devs share their creations for each other, they're not obliged to put them up here and frankly it takes a billion times more work to make a rom than to look through the ROM threads

Xperia T ROM is the way to go!
I too was in the same state 3-4 months back and all I wanted was a stable & smooth ROM (better than stock, of course). So, I went thro most of the threads and based on the feedback of many, I narrowed down on Ultimate HD. Sure its a better ROM and I was happy using it for close to 2 months. But after prolonged usage, it started to lag. Only then, I started experimenting with multiple ROMs.
There are ROM u would start hating it immediately after installing it and there are which will make u to stick with it for a while. After testing bunch of ROMs, I finally landed on Xperia T ROM. Its not the most talked about ROM around, but definitely has its own fan following and Im definitely going to be one among them. It has all the MODs that I wanted (toggles, latest apps, cybershot, small apps etc...) and yet it offered smoothness and free RAM of close to 100 MB. Most importantly, it offered loads of options while installing (in Aroma Installer). So, you can pick and choose whatever u want. It is one of the few ROMs wherein Sound Enhancements in Walkman player and Online mode in Album works out of the box without any tweaking!
So, I suggest you to give it a shot. Im sure u wont regret it
Hmm. Just read that T ROM has broken wifi tethering. Also read that AOSP ROM's don't have in call mute? It's quite a bit involved installing that ROM by the look of things too. I will monitor the thread for a while though and ask about the in call mute feature.
Sometimes, it's not about the ROM, it's the mods you flash on the ROM. I have been using stock ROM for quite some time and I have flashed a few mods to tweak and improve the stock ROM. You can go to the Themes and Apps section to find these kind of mods.

AW: [Q] Which ROM offers the following?
Use the stock rom and flash mods you want..
Your mixing everyrthing up, battery and performance, perfect stability and design....
Hi guys, this is my first post... I'm pretty new with flashing, and seems like even our 2010 phone has a sea of ROMs. I don't know how to choose a ROM, and I cannot find people that know how to help me, so...i'm writing here
Actually i'm running Andromadus Slim Bean, i've tried sense minima (laggy and buggy), cyankat (a lil' slow, but may be caused of what i've installed), PureKat ('till 2.0 -beta 1, because it was way TOO buggy -i'm waiting the 4.0-).
This is my main device, and I use it everyday. I don't need the best looking rom, just the best compromise beetween stability and speed (the speed has priority), and I don't know what to pick.
So yeah, i'm asking you a suggestion, hoping this doesn't violates the rules. Thank you c:
--I'm sorry for my grammar, i'm Italian --
Hey, glad to see you trying a out first, this is the way to do it! Unfortunately best ROM threads are against the rules here at xda so I will point you to this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2348266
Here you will find all the options for this phone organized by android version and color coded by base type
If you want pure stability I would say gingerbread for this phone will always be best but you will find plenty of newer ROMs that run great too
I put together cyan mobile for this phone and maybe I'm biased but it is about as stable, fast, and feature rich as gingerbread goes with great battery life. aint the prettiest though! You'll find it in the GB section, second link
Hope you find something you like!
Thread closed - as the above post states, ROM comparisons/recommendations are not allowed.
Since there is a link in tha above post too, I'll leave you to explore that.
Thanks
I have tried all possible custom ROM's for my tomato but none of them are fully stable. Most of them has there own issues. Require a Custom ROM which is at least fully stable and usable. Below is the list of all common issues with lollipop custom ROM's for Yureka .. :-
1. (major issue) capacitive touch buttons can't be disabled completely nd so On-screen nav bar can't be used at its best.
2. Battery drain is another issue with all the custom ROM's..
3. Gapps stopping.. FC occurring during reboots nd sometimes even after reboots.. AOSP crashing...!
4. Camera app is not upto mark in any of available custom ROM's.. Worse performer than stock lollipop..
5. ROM's must provide us with some powerful custom kernel's to give us full control on hardware.. No rom has provided a great kernel which can be used for tweaking...
6. Status bar and notification panel getting f****d up with customization in most of the ROM's..
7. (Most Important in my case) Colors are really dull in most of the ROM's.. Color production is very poor and can be felt while playing games..
If all these issues can be resolved by any ROM developer, for me it will be the perfect ROM... Waiting eagerly for it..
All problems mentioned above are based on the ROM's reviewed by me which are:-
1 SOKP 5.1.1
2 BlissPop rom for tomato
3 Resurrection 5.1
(?I suggest developers to add viper4android as equaliser app and cameraNext modded app as default camera app) ? both are best in their category

Off-Topic...This is a development section....Ur querries and requests whether related to development or not should have been posted in general section...
It is related to development
Flashed from my Yureka
First of all the topic of this thread is just wrong,as you require you build one stable for you(as if its easy as installing an apk),
second the issue you mentioned here are already posted by many users in the specific ROM threads,
Third thing is that feature requests should be made in general section or in specific ROM threads,
fourth you don't pay them to demand or suggest them,
fifth just wait patiently, posts and unwanted threads like this will irritate some developers so that you may lose some ROMs !!
Note: I request mod to move this thread to its specific section.

Why don't you build yourself a custom ROM and fix all your ISSUES yourself? the developers do their best, and we should do our part and not complain.
Of course they do... It was meant to be a request nd nothing to boil the things off...All bugs mentioned above were to help developers identify all the issues nd to avoid them as all these are common one's.....!!
And I don't think any developer will see this post as an offence as it is not meant to be.. Developers are no God and they too need to be told about what they need to avoid..
Also this post has been posted in development section as it covers common issues related to ROM's which are posted here...!!

While I understand that you did not mean to rile people up with your post, it comes off as a little bit demanding. Devs know what they have to work on, feedback on the custom ROM posts is there for that. They need not be constantly reminded of it by seeing it on the front page. If everyone started demanding things by making posts about it on the forum nothing would get addressed. Developing a ROM is not a simple task it requires a lot of knowledge. Developers know what bugs their ROMs have and they try their best to fix them. Also I agree with people above that this should not be in the development section its a general thread.
I have RR in My primary phone Nexus 4 which is pretty stable. For Yureka, I'll probably root and go with RR soon. If the demand is for most stability, go with Stock. But till my usage on CM12 Lollipop, it's not that stable enough and there are rarely bugs too (These are complained many times in YU Forums). Hence it might be pretty obvious reason for that instability of Custom ROMs. One solution I'm wishing for now. How to install Xposed GravityBox module to Yureka phone? Since it comes with CM12 which violates the rule of install in Non-AOSP, is there AOSP version available for this phone? If not, can a AOSP custom ROM be built to 1+1/Yureka phones?

Be happy with whatever you're probided by the devs. They are human beings (just like us) and do these works in their free time. Bug fixes take time, they aren't fixed with a click of a button. All 5.1.1 roms (for dual sim devices) had the systemui/settings fc bug. But these bugs have been solved now. See, I told you bug fixes need time. You flash roms at your own risk, so you shouldn't demand things. Rather, just be humble in listing the bugs and wait for the dev of the respective rom to fix them. These are devs spending their leisure time in compiling roms fro your device while they could've been out enjoying with their friends. They don't even get paid for all this. So next time before you use the F word in a thread, think twice.

here's something that promises much, i think. and the dev @percy_g2 seems to be well-respected.
In what way its related to development...Is posting ur querries a development??? Or giving suggestions to those who already know what to do and what not a development??...This is totally an off-topic...
Build a bug-free ROM and post it here or a kernel and post it here..and thats development btw...
Pinpointing errors and bugs is known as reporting btw...

First before creating a thread, find the right need, right place, section etc.
there is clear impulisiveness and an impact created.
Please take care of the next one
Thanks for the understanding

Are you serious?
He's almost ordering the devs to build a stable rom, why?
If he's so keen why doesn't he himself build one?
All devs have already specified all the possible bugs on the particular rom threads so why should you post them separately in a new thread?
Imagine if everyone made new threads about the bugs? All threads would be about bugs only and nothing about development.
SO!
Think twice before posting. Post only relevant stuff. Read all the posts before posting. AND DON'T COMPARE DEVS' WORK and DON'T ORDER THEM, THEY DON'T GET PAID BY YOU!
I hope you and the OP understand my point and never commit a stupidity of this kind again.
wtf man we already have cm12.1 official (snapshot) and now we got cynogen os 12.1 that too stable !!
