Why don't you consider flashing a decent ROM

can the kindle fire be seen by the pc even in TWRP screen?
Yes. By mounting the sdcard, the fire can be managed from twrp. I use Windows 7 and 8 with no issues.

I tried to install cm7 on my kindle fire
used thix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
for rooting and installing the recovery
downloaded cm7 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390773
made a backup, wiped cache and dalvik and installed, now everything stays black!
the tool and adb still "sees" the kindle
oh now i somehow managed to get back to recovery and now I'm restoring the system
what did I do wrong?
Tried again: when installing it says "E:Cannot load colume /misc!" before and after it tries to install the update
fire utility says adb status: online, adb rooted: yes, boot status: 4000
So where are you on this now? Did you get it all done?

It sounds like u downloaded the non wipe cm7 and only wiped caches before you flashed. Make sure you wipe data as well its the factory reset button. Sounds like ulyou got it back. If you're not completely comfortable flashing at least do some research

That message is normal, ignore it.
It sounds like you should be good to go....What happens when you shut the kindle off and then turn it back on?
Thanks for your answers.
After another failed try I did a total wipe (factory, data, system, dalvik, cache)
and it worked
BUT after i installed everyting i put the kindle in standby, and when i tried to wake it up after a few hours, it stayed black. "reanimated" it with holding down the power button for about 20 sec. for total power off, afterwards it startet without any problem.
is ther a problem with the cm7 version for the fire or is it just bad luck?
this is a known problem on the kf espacially after some days - don't worry
btw. please post such a problem next time in the general section
oh sorry, used the wrong tab for a new thread (had dev and general open in 2 seperate tabs)
but thx for your help
My kindle sudenly died and now it refuses to load past the cyanogen spinning logo. I can go to recovery (I have twrp v2.1.1), but it freezes when I click reboot.
I tried factory reset from twrp and flashing the rom again but it's the same.
I also cannot see the kindle from PC, adb does not see it and I tried SoupKit which also does not see it.
Please help!

Factory Reset
You said you installed and then you wiped system? Big mistake. Boot into recovery and mount, download that AOSP rom on your computer, copy itnto your Kindle, install, and wipe factory reset and cache.

So, what you're saying is...
When the device boots, and you use the power button to bring up the boot menu and select recovery, nothing happens?

if you was on the 8.5.1 version ignore all the kindle fire first aide stuff and just use regular command prompt ran as administrator, use the recovery file from link i posted and flash with fastboot assuming you have that working and that should put the kindle back into factory reset mode on next boot after the "erasing using data" step, if you make it to that step without problems it could take up to 45 minutes to erase user data, just let it run until complete. hope this helps
Mike
Messed up bootloader is why you getting red screen, reflash the bootloader to fix this, or at least get you going where you can flash recovery files which will allow you to enter factory recovery and it actually work instead of looping each time after choosing to reset to factory

Hi. The subject line pretty much says it all. I was really loving my Kindle (Tate) with CM12 (as opposed to the Amazon OS), but sometimes it would get stuck on the boot screen. This morning, I wiped the data, updated the Cyanogen recovery, and updated it to cm-12.1-20151230-NIGHTLY-tate.zip. Now, it will only boot into recovery. I did create a backup. What did I do wrong, and how do I fix it?
Thanks!
