zip apk tot - LG Optimus G (International)

ok people simple question could even border on being silly. i know a zip file is compressed data. apk file is an android program but not sure what a tot file is. is sounds like its a rom but with a different extension? how do you install it.

extract a tar??????

So for mobile Odin how do I extract the tar file on my phone? I want to flash ICS but make sure I have a way out, since I'm not anywhere near a computer...... I downloaded a el29 ROM for Odin and it will tell me that the.... well I can't remember what it said now but is there a straight tar file that doesn't need to be extracted? I saw the stock el29 acs one but its a zip....
If the file is already in .tar file format there is no need to extract it. If the file is a zip, you can use a program such as 7-zip or winrar. Since you said you are not near a computer I would reccomend using an app called root explorer. In root explorer, navigate to the zip, long hold, and then select extract. Hope this helps!

I thought they were but mobile Odin says can't find partition.... so I thought it needed the tar. Extracted?.. I was using root explorer and it wasn't giving me an extract option, so I assume because it wasn't needing extracting?

If you long press on a file it should give you a long list of options including extract

I've tried... nothing says extract. Guess I will wait till I'm around a computer and extract the file then put that on my sd card so I have it. I have kernals and modems that mobile Odin will flash. This el29 ROM doesn't work. Just says partition could not be found in file. Oh well.

Honestly, if I was you, I would wait until you are in front of a computer. If you are using sfhub's it is a whole one click setup contained within the file.

Right, and that is what I am using. I am downloading el26 now to see if mobile Odin accepts that, if not I can wait. I just don't want to be stuck, lol, gotta flash every so often lol!

Need stock .tar for ODIN

Anyone have a stock EL29 tar ball (NOT an .exe self extractor)?
I need one to ODIN to my phone. I'm on a mac and can't for the life of me get the .exe self extractor to work with 7-zip and I really need to ODIN back to stock.
Everything I've found in the Dev section has downloads for .exe's, but no .tar's.
Thanks!
EDIT:
Or, if anyone can tell me a good way to use the [ODIN][TAR] self extractor on a mac, that would work too.

Im confused. This post, section B, says for mac/Linux users to extract with 7zip. Maybe this will help?

Also check out a1 and a2 in the second post of that thread..

Thanks, yeah what I need is the file in that post, but in a .tar format; I found one on ACS.
Section B does indeed specify to use 7zip, but I spent a long time trying to get 7zip installed on my mac with no luck. Who would've thought... Samsung and Android don't play nice with macs...

Ahh, sorry about that.
If you have a copy of windows, vmware or equivalent for mac is a bit useful for unzipping files. Though I've found it won't recognize my phone if ics is installed.

Is there a ZVB tot?

Since I need to LGPNST anyway, I figured I'd kill 2 birds with one stone.

Yup. Get it from the irc. I just posted an install guide on the last page my thread. Not in OP yet.
Make sure you get the one called ZVB_AP_UNLOCKED
There is a .cab file you might want to try
HERE
EDIT:
-Yes it works updating from ZV9 to ZVB (4.1.2) using .cab file with LGNPST v2.2.3
-It might takes time to verify the .cab files (it took me 15minutes, I guess it depend on your PC)

They're tar file, you need to unzip to get to it. That's the one I've use before.
☞ Sent from here☜???
Inside those .tar files should be a .tar.md5; that's the Odin Flashable file.

If you don't know how to unzip files that probably means you don't already have a tool like 7zip on your computer. Consider using something like that; it's really pretty straightforward.
