Hi all, I have seen videos with pinch to zoom in stock messaging app. I cannot seem to do this. I open app, pinch, double tap, nothing. Is there something that i am missing?
Thanks in advance
Works for me.

Thought I would start a thread here instead of littering the development threads. I always delete the stock gallery app in favor of quick pic. It's not perfect either, but it's functionality exceeds googles gallery and then some.
Here is the issue. Prior to Jelly Bean deleting the gallery had no effect on the camera. However now deleting the gallery also deletes the camera. I have tried installing the camera app from CM9, as it is separate, but it still won't work. Camera apps from the market seen substandard, and I'm not looking to spend $ on an app that isn't great.
Does anyone have a solution to this? I guess I could just leave the gallery installed and set quick pic as default.

There you have it.
I hate the stock gallery app as well, but it seems Google fused it together with the camera. Think of it as the Google+ and its Messenger app.
No harm in leaving the Gallery be.

Maybe you can freeze the Gallery app with Titanium Backup? But I don't know if this will have the same effect like deleting it. Just an idea...

gallery combained with camera gives speed at launch, plus i love quick pic too but i find so much slow latest so i stick with stock ones as i prefere now most!
I tried quick pic for a while but I just couldn't take the "loading" between each pic when viewing them.
What is your client of choice? I need a pop-up window that does not get blocked by Swype keyboard. I use go sms but it makes my pictures taken in portrait mode rotate to landscape mode.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I stick with default
I love the 90s. Good times.
I stick with the stock messaging app. What's wrong with it? Works just fine.
I use the default client but I had tried Sliding Messaging Pro for a couple of days and I loved it. Was going to keep it until I realized I can't add pictures to my texts with it. Dropped it right then and there. What a shame. Could be a perfect sms app with that (and it's a basic freaking feature).

Stock with SMS Popup. Gives me the nice quick reply feature, and i can pop into messaging app as needed from there (Quick reply buttons are changeable to others if you prefer to have something other then what's there as well via the settings)

I don't have the option of sms pop-up on stock sms

I've been using Handcent for almost three years. Still happy with it.
At the time, the default app didn't have custom ringtones. Dunno if they ever fixed that.
Also, I despise the "talk balloon" theme. Dunno why, but it grates on my nerves, bad. Again, Handcent gives me control over that. I set it up back then and it has carried over through a phone upgrade and a recent cracked screen replacement.
Handcent was top dog when I installed it. Haven't seen any need to switch away since. It Just Works.
SMS Pop-up is a separate app, available on Google Play. It works well, but make sure you disable notifications in the stock app to avoid duplicate alerts. I've also used Handcent in the past - it's feature rich, but too bloated for me. Right now I'm using the stock messaging app in the LiquidSmooth rom. It has built in pop-up.

Hey guys, what's going on. I peeked into the AT&T variant of the LGOG, and seen that they had a stock ROM with AOSP apps, like Messaging, browser, calculator, etc. While we do have most of those apps, the one app I really want to complete droidmk's stock/aosp hybrid experience would be the AOSP messaging app, especially since because I dislike the LG one so much. Would it be possible for us to get the messaging app? Or would things get too broken to implement into a stock ROM?

Well I found an AOSP MMS.apk floating around the AT&T forums, but picture mail is borked Other than that, it works perfectly. Would anyone have any idea on a fix?

Are you trying to get the 4.1 or 4.2 aosp apps?

The 4.1 apps as they'd probably be the most compatible. I've recently discovered that Nexogen actually has all of these AOSP apps, except for MMS. And that's because MMS in the messaging app doesn't work at all. In fact, I don't think MMS works in ANY messaging app replacement from the market.

To all who care, (none of you), this is my first post on the xda forums! Cheers! :good:
Anyways, I'm having some bugs/ issues with my photo gallery on my Samsung Galaxy s4.
As I enter into the gallery interface, the gallery freezes for about 7 seconds, then I get a pop-up message reading "Unfortunately, text-to-speech has stopped." I click the "okay" button, and make an attempt to click on an image, then the same issue happens yet again.
Yes, I am rooted. I also deleted a few bloat-ware apps.
Any suggestions as to how I could get this resolved?
Welcome to xda,
I stopped using the stock gallery app with the mytouch 3g. I use quickpic. I know it doesn't answer your question, but it's a work around
I think the text to speech is caused by another app like lightflow or dynamic notifications...something that uses the accessibility settings.
Alrighty, thanks!

Thanks to user Luke Olsen for posting this https://plus.google.com/app/basic/stream/z13zsdhwxmeoj3ubg04cixyh5tesidmz3ek it has sms integration that is confirmed working

Well, ergonomics seem as ****ty as always. Can't understand how I choose between SMS and hangout channels. Typing a name brings out hundreds of "google+ suggestions" I have never heard of, instead of bringing out my local google contacts.
What the hell ?
Is anyone else having issues with video calling after installing the new apk?

anyone have this working ok in conjunction with the new kitkat launcher/google now? I am getting a lot of hangout FC's. I used the v2 package from this same forum.
Edit: Never mind. Uninstalled the new version and reinstalled and now it's playing nicely.
As far as sms is concerned hangouts works perfectly.

Can anyone receive any MMS?
Yep! I can without any issue.
I just tried with my work phone and haven't received any MMS... Not even in the stock messaging app did I get the MMS
I have no problem sending MMS
I am getting hangout force closes... Randomly

I get FC's with the new hangouts app too but it is only happening with the Google play services update required for the kk launcher

Managed to get a fc when I sent myself a picture. Anyone else?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Yup fc here
No MMS and random force closes... I have uninstalled and gone back to Hangouts V1....
Really wished it was fully working.. Was liking the SMS integration

Why hasn't Google implemented quick reply to Hangouts yet? That was something I'd hoped would have come with this latest version. The interactive and expandable notifications are cool to see a full message content, but it sucks having to constantly enter in the new Hangouts app vs. just hitting quick reply or read with the CM 10.2 stock messaging app. I guess I was just spoiled.
On the plus side, I was able to receive an MMS last night, but when sending one, I get an fc. Oh well. Most people who I want to send pictures too have Hangouts and I just share a picture with them instead of MMS for the time being till that is fixed, or the official update is released on the Play Store.
