From your post it appears you are using an AT&T model.
Did you see the link near the top of that thread saying "AT&T US [SGH-I747] SUPPORT THREAD HERE"
And the warnings on that page regarding Jelly Bean

Basically My galaxy S2 was rooted and do not remember the root name etc... everything was working great until I installed a new font, the phone rebooted and was on start up screen for more than 3 hours.
After looking for solution and fielding with it, I ended up in worst place now!!
Cannot enter recovery mode anymore (volume up + Home + power)
The screen is Stuck on "firmware upgrade encountered an issue"
Cannot connect with Kies
However I can enter the Download mode and connect with ODIN
Tried to install many firmwares but ODIN fails!!

I was trying to flash my phone (AT&T SGS3) back to stock today using this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
While I was downloading, I accidentally kicked the usb cable out of the phone.
I immediately pulled the battery and restarted the process.
Odin said it succeeded but when I boot I get stuck on a screen where it just says samsung. Like the first screen you see on boot but it happens a second time after the galaxy s logo and the at&t logo.
I don't know how to fix this. Can someone please help?
Also I was going to try the not rooted stock roms from this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737848
But the downloads don't seem to be working. Anyone know where I can download the stock roms?

Maybe try going into recovery mode and do a factory wipe there.
That worked. Thank you, you just saved me in a big way
Glad it worked. Happened to me too. From what I learned when changing ROM types tw-> aosp you need to wipe data.

Hi all,
I've been using a leaked Touchwiz JB ROM for the past couple of months, and today, I decided that I wanted to return to unrooted stock and then root using the V2.3 toolkit located at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746680.
I wiped everything with TWRP and installed the stock ROM with no problem. Then, I ran the toolkit to root the phone. The toolkit said that everything processed correctly, but now, my phone won't boot up and hangs on a black screen after the Samsung Galaxy S3 logo appears. I can hear the bootup jingle at the black screen, and the LED stays lit with a blue light when it is on this screen, but I can't do anything else. What's worse is that I don't have a custom recovery installed. I can get into Odin download mode, however.
Does anyone have any advice? I really hope that this phone isn't permanently bricked.

Thanks a ton for the quick response. I'll get to work on this now.
I ended up fixing it by installing a prerooted JB ROM via Odin.

Hello,
Would this suggestion also happen to fix this problem?
I mistakenly followed the instructions of a video on youtube on how to root a Samsung GSIII and accidentally soft bricked my phone. The problem was (as the creator of the video says) that the video was outdated and I ended up flashing the 4.0.4 boot image on a 4.1.1 Samsung GSIII. So far my phone boots up with the Samsung logo, but falls short at a black screen with a pulsing blue led light. When I plug the phone to the computer, It get recognized just the same way as it would if it had booted up fully. I searched most forum posts but haven't come up to a solid solution. I might need to search some more, but can u confirm if your suggestion is likely to fix my problem.

qbking77 also has a video that walks you through the steps to recover from a "soft brick". It involves using Odin and a stock JB .tar file. I haven't looked at the video in a while, so I do not know if the link to the stock file is current. qbking77's video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypmqJbZqOaU&list=PL7011CD883D5201B8&index=29

I flashed and got stuck at the Samsung screen with the blue led..... from recovery all I did was reset/ factory settings and was back in business.

What toolkit are you using?
If you can get the phone into download mode (which you should be able to if you can get into recovery for a factory reset - press Vol Down + Home + Power), flash one of the stock rooted images from here.
latest toolkit, i even did an update today
i did not have this problem when i rooted it the first time

That doesn't tell me what toolkit you're using - there are several different "toolkits" one can use to root their device. Can you provide a link or something?
Did you see my suggestion about entering download mode to reflash the phone?

That would be this toolkit, I presume?
Did you start from Jelly Bean? The toolkit thread explicitly states that trying to use it with stock Jelly Bean will result in the soft-bricking you describe; you're better off trying another approach to rooting (such as the one I linked to).
So, I was enjoying my lovely Note II . It had been saying update suspended all day. I got home after work. let the update go and then it got stuck on the screen that says Samsung Galaxy Note II. I mean for freaking 3 hours.
Left battery out. did all that fun stuff. It would boot to download but not recovery.
I did an odin flash to stock firmware. Odin got to pass. all happy and hunky dory.
but still..... phone stays stuck at Samsung Galaxy Note II screen.
I know that this seems like it may have been covered in other threads, but I cant find any threads that say the flash didnt solve all problems
Please help. My cherub-like demeanor is slipping.

Go into stock recovery, do a factory reset. Should snap it out of it.
That's the last step it says to do on the main page.

yes. and i've done that before and it worked. but this time, it doesn't get to the pulsing samsung logo, it stays on the Galaxy Note II logo with black background. and when i try to go to recovery mode, it also goes into Galaxy Note II logo and stays there.

Before you did all this what were you on before ??? Stock 4.3, 4.4.2 ? A Custom Rom?
Have you tried this part? This should fix it depending on your answer above
- Download from http://d-h.st/CDK
I317UCUBMK6-TZ-PARAM.zip
- Extract the I317UCUBMK6-TZ-PARAM.zip file to get to I317UCUBMK6-TZ.tar.md5
It has two files in the I317UCUBMK6-TZ-PARAM.zip. You should only need the I317UCUBMK6-TZ.tar.md5.
I kept both files in there, in rare case you will need to flash the param file.

You mean your phone won't go into recovery? I find that you need to hold the volume + and home button while the Android guy is on the screen and the progress bars moves along the bottom of the screen.
