Enabling DTMF on SGS2 - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I am running FI27 and have noticed I am having issues with keypad prompts on automated call systems.
I have searched high and low and cannot seem to figure out how to enable long DTMF.
I also noticed that getprop ril.MSL isn't working in the terminal, and yes, it has SU.
Thanks in advance.

you could try this?

I think these are the steps to enable long DTMF:

Edit: So you don't know your MSL, that's the actual problem, right? Could you try a different terminal emulator (i.e. ConnectBot)? Good luck.

To get your msl on fi27, read this thread.

[Q] ril.msl not found in Getprop, EH06 Stock Leak

Hello Forum,
This afternoon I was trying to get my wife's phone MSL and i was running the good old command getprop from a localhosts terminal from the phone using connectbot. I tried several attempts to locate the msl but I had no success in doing so.
So I connected the phone and using ADB (because I thought that the list displayed by the connectbot terminal was being truncated) I ran the command again and still no luck. Now I've also tried this with my phone (which is also running this leak) and I've had no luck; Though I know my MSL by heart, I still don't get it displayed using this command.
This spawns 2 questions:
1. Is this an issues that only affecting GB leaks? I can get this number without issues with Froyo builds.
2. How do you go about getting the MSL any other way if this command doesn't display it?
Thanks in advance to everyone!

Funny thing eh?, I tried every trick in the book and still couldn't pull it out. It's like that section is wiped out of the Getprop command.
I wonder if they have taken extra steps to protect it and not enable people to get it so easy... But I will keep on fishing around.

Actually I found the issue... you have to type: getprop ril.MSL
If the MSL isn't in caps it doesn't return anything. BUT it still doesn't answer why its not displayed when you simply enter the getprop command like before....

Samsung got it out of the list somehow but as you saw as long as you remember the caps you can still get it. Been like this on all the leaks.

Yep, on my Samsung Transform Ultra (boost mobile), it does not show up in the 255 line long getprop results when getprop is ran with no arguments. It still shows up with 'getprop ril.MSL' as you said.
The reason I am posting on this old thread is because I have developed a very simple app to display the MSL code, this way it can be accessed without a terminal app or adb shell.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present Get My MSL:
Err, since I am a new account I cannot post outside links yet, so type this into Google Play to find it: com.patternedsoftware.getmymsl
It is free, and ad-free. At less than 50kB the apk does not take up much space, so I hope this may be of use to somebody out there!

For everyone with data problems, I think I have found the solution

Ok, so I know a lot of us are having data issues and some are not
I think I may have figured it out
It is most probably because you ordered from a 3rd party retailer that didn't program the phone properly.
I ordered from Wirefly, and they never programmed my MSID, just the cell phone number
1. So, call tech support and have them reprogram your phone. They will give you a ##xxxxxx# code, then you enter in your cell number and MSID
2. let it reboot
3. update PRL, Firmware, and Profile in that order. Restart again
you *should* have better data connectivity.
PLEASE REPORT WITH RESULTS
Its called data reset and you can do it by your self if you ask them for the MSL number...
The MSID should be in the phone already if its activated the other SSID or w.e. Is your phone number
But good looking out for others who dont know

see, when i came to sprint, i ported from another carrier...as a result, the cell number and MSID are different
maybe we are the ones who have sucky data? with a MSID diff than cell? I'm still sure the MSID has to be programmed in for everything to work correct, even if its ure cell #

No if those numbers are wrong even by one number your phone will not be ativated
(I believe)
I think it just resets the phone signal to server/tower but frequently check for prl and profile updates that always seems to help a little bit especially when traveling out of your normal usage area

This. The only way to know what your MSID should be is by looking in our system.
The other number in question is the MDN.

Honestly, I have yet to figure out any type of pattern as to what numbers are assigned. However, most commonly, it is your MDN that is the same as your phone number (PTN).
There's no good general rule of thumb to go by. Sometimes both of them are the same. Some times they're in different area codes as your PTN. Can't say I've ever seen an MSID be the same as the PTN without the MDN being the same as well. But anything is possible.
If you want, you can PM me your phone number. I don't work until Wednesday, but it only takes a couple clicks once I get in. I'm willing to do this for people, but within reason. Just PM me.

The MSL can be found by downloading "terminal emulator" and typing "getprop ril.MSL" It is case sensitive.
From there, go to the phone, and type ##72786# , at the SCRTN screen select yes, let the phone reboot, let the activation go through its thing NOT TOUCHING THE SCREEN unless it tells you to. Let it do a reboot again.
This will do everything in OPs post without so much hassle.

LOL..same here!! The mms issue was killing me since I use that a lot
So even if you have your MS, MSID etc, is there a way to reprovision it without having to call Sprint (If you got your phone from Sprint)?

Yes. ##SCRTN# in the dialer resets the radio data (msid and mdn and a couple other obscure codes); think of it as a hard reset only for your activation. Upon reboot, the phone will go through hands free.
Also, ##"your msl"# takes you to the manual programming screen

You can get your MSL if you're rooted.
Just open Terminal Emulator (in Market if you don't have it) and type:
su
getprop ril.MSL

Ok, n00b question. Do I have to be rooted to use terminal emulator?
I am using Terminal Emulator Pro and when I enter getprop ril.MSL and hit enter, I get nothing but the next line. Also, everytime I enter the ril.MSL part, the "i" changes to capital "I".......is that the problem? I assume I an not supposed to use the quotations either right?
Also, another n00b question, what is SCRTN? Is that just the phone dialer screen?

How to get your MSL without calling Sprint, or CDMA Workshop or the MSL market app

I wanted my MSL code to play around with some settings on my new Epic 4G Touch.
I've heard many times you can just call Sprint but I've never really had good luck with this. One time we got it for my friends phone after calling 4 times.
On my own EVO 4G, I used CDMA Workshop and then later there was an MSL app that came out on the market that pulled it too. Unfortunately, this MSL app does NOT seem to work on the Epic 4G Touch.
Someone told me an easier way to get it on this phone. I'm sorry I forgot who it was, it was burred in another thread somewhere on another forum. Anyhoo, it's super simple. I know this isn't anything new but people seem to still ask. Anyway here goes:
1. Download "Terminal Emulator" from the app market.
2. Open Terminal Emulator.
3. type in getprop ril.MSL (make sure the .MSL is capitalized)
4. Press enter and poof, you have your MSL code.
Again, not a new method, but people still ask. Not sure if it works on EVERY ROM, but I know it works on most of the custom ROM's.
Thank you, works like a charm!
Good tip, but I wonder if this is just a Samsung deal. This method doesn't work on the LG or HTC handsets that I've tried in the past, but works great on my OG Epic and Epic Touch.

I found this in a guide a while back and saved it. Hope this helps some people, pretty simple as well. I've also ran the same thing on some HTC devices and it worked.
In CDMA Workshop - "Click the terminal tab enter this into command box: 41 74 64 77 61 6F 70 then click send. Now click the security tab and read SPC the current SPC should come up."
You can also try running "REQUESTNVITEMREAD SEC_CODE" in QXDM. May have to run "Password 01F2030F5F678FF9" first to unlock the phone.

Tried using MSL Reader to no avail. I get the output message "/dev/smd0 not found". Is this an issue with Galaxy Nexus compatibility or could it be because I haven't activated this phone with Verizon?

MSL Reader, as it says in Market comments, is only designed for HTC devices. The GN is a Samsung device.
The getprop ril.MSL does work on some samsung devices.
The only alternative method which comes to mind is perhaps to try adb logcat -b radio and glance through there.
I'm not 100% clear on how the MSL is assigned in relation to activation of the device on a CDMA network. If the radio log doesn't help, hopefully somebody with more experience can post up a better method.
Verizon GN on Sprint? That thought did cross my mind .. but seemed a bit challenging. I ended up with the GSM device and the $30 a month TMO plan dropping my Sprint contract ... but would be curious to know how porting GN verizon over to sprint works out! You'll def have to let us know how that works out!
I'm actually having the same problem... CM 10.2 stable ROM here... Anyone know how to find the MSL?
