Handcent Settings - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

How can I get custom text tones to restore when switching roms? Sometimes it will keep them when I restore through titanium, but usually it just goes to the roms default alert tone. I have tried putting all the tones I use into a folder and setting from that folder so it would always be from the same place but that didn't work. Any ideas?

You can't keep settings to stay as it also relates to system settings and roms all have different versions/type of settings. You can maybe backup hand cents settings through that app itself with data

I figured that might be the case. Sometimes it works, maybe I was going from one rom to another with those settings being the same.

[Q] Flash Nandroid To Different Phone ??

Hello all,
My son's EVO will not send MMS. When he tries to send a text with photo, he gets a failure with "generic network failure". We have tried it with wifi, 3G, with Handcent and the stock messaging app. We can't find any other problems, just that, as far as we know.
He rooted the phone using this procedure:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g-rooting-roms-hacks/54844-guide-rooting-3-7-hboot2-02-w-screen-shots-1-27-2011-a.html
and everything seemed fine, so his ROM is sprintlovers but maybe one version back from the current one.
So finally to my question - Can I flash a nandroid from my EVO (Vaelpak ROM) to his phone? I just want to see if I can send an MMS from his phone using my system. I figure if not, at least we probably ruled out a problem with his ROM.
Advice appreciated !!
Not a good idea, too many different numbers and variables, things can get worse if you mix software/harware/firmare stuff from different phones. I think there are a lot of little differences in the guts. I would make a nandroid backup and flash another rom right on his phone. Can't hurt to try
Dont do it, you will mess things up worse. Titanium Backups, yes. Nandroid, no.
Seconded... Nandroids don't flash from phone to phone. But Titanium Backup, will do the trick. Also make sure your incoming message size is set to 1mb... Are you using stock messenging or handcent?
In the send/mms setting, I set my cache to the 5MB for evo only, on handcent, never had a problem. Also don't place your backup onto his phone, because it will cause problems. I would try the method I suggested, or flash the newest sprint lovers rom if that's what he likes.

OK, I'll scratch the nandroid swap thing. Glad I asked!
Tried with both messaging apps. I don't know what his message size limit is, but he has been unable to send OR receive text w/photos. I'll look into it more this evening after work...

He's had his mobile data in some form on while doing both, sending and receiving?

Yes, tried with 3G and with WiFi, didn't work either time. Of course, we've pulled the battery, etc. etc.
Should we try something like wiping caches? Clear app data? I'm at a loss.

In his receive settings, is auto-retrieval enabled?

Yes auto-retrieve is on. His "connection settings" (messaging>settings) look different than mine. His were all blank, where mine showed values below each setting. He is able to edit his, so he made them match mine. Unfortunately it did not fix the problem. Funny thing is my connection settings show but can't be changed.
EVO on VaelPak
Update - we backed up, factory reset, wiped cache, and flashed the latest Vaelpak. MMS worked but he missed all the sense stuff, so we flashed Sprint Lovers. Things seemed to be working. He was messing with settings last night when his phone shut down from battery drain. So he charged all night. Phone stuck on white evo screen when booting this morning, even after battery pulls. We did get into recovery tho, so wiped caches and reflashed SL again. Things seem OK again, we'll see... I wonder if he hosed something up when he was going through the root process. If he keeps having issues I'm gonna go through the whole process again just to make sure there weren't any issues with it...

[Q] Delete old messages option in stock messaging app

Ok so to avoid the long delete time and memory problems I had my old phone (DInc1) set to delete old messages with a cap at 200. This option can be found in the stock messaging app under general settings then storage settings.
Since I got the Inc2, this option doesnt work, I've tried rebooting, turning the option on/off, etc. no luck.
Anyone have any ideas on why this wont work? Its set to automatically delete messages past 200 but I have convos that are up to 800+.

[Q] Program to restore ringtone assignments on reload

ok this is my issue i am getting tired of having to go through my contact list and reassign ringtones to my contacts as i use ring tones for each one of my friends so i know before i even pick up the phone who is calling
I also like to flash custom roms and have had to do full wipes of my phone quite often and it is starting to seem that happens everytime i get my phone how i want it...
So I am now wondering if there is a way to either back up my contact list in a form that would be restore able that i would be able to just restore it when i reload my phone was thinking some sort of app that is a manager of contacts and ringtones.
Oh it also has to be free.
Handcent does keep my ring tone assignments when i reload it but i want the stock dialer google contacts to be able to be restored like that...
So what is the best free ringtone contact manager that is restore able across roms?
Dialer One does all this stuff, and is free.

[Q] Pre and Post Rom Install Backup/Restore

Hello all,
I often hear people talking about flashing new ROMs every few days. When flashing the newest CW7, it clears out all my apps and settings. No problem, I use Titanium Backup and restored all the apps, and restored *most* of the settings (I'm never entirely clear what settings are ok to restore and what aren't).
For those who often flash new ROMs, how do you restore things like your widget placement and icon placement on your home screens? Do you just do that manually or is there some trick I'm missing?
What about voicemails? I normally lose all my messages too. Is there some backup/restore routine I'm missing?
Usually I have adw and reinstall the apps I had previously but taking over apps from roms is dangerous. And I back up my adw settings and desktop configuration. That saves me a lot of time. As for voicemail no idea but I know myback up root will save your phone contacts and sms pretty much everything.

Little Clarifications Please:
1) Using CUSTOM ROM or Stock ROM?
2) Using Stock messaging App or any others?
I'm assuming you'r using default stock messaging app in STOCK ROM.
May be try opening Messaging, Press Menu key and go to Settings, under the settings there will be notification settings. Check those.

I'm not sure how is this then.
May be Check whether it's similar to this.
Also, Check you notification volume and Also make sure the there is some ringtone selected in these apps as well.
Since Go SMS works fine i think it's ostly an issue due to the setting in Stock Messaging app.
