Ok, so I had TWRP including FFF installed, as well as all the other features that comes with kindle fire utility, when I decided that I wanted to restore to stock firmware.
I placed the update.bin in kindleupdates folder on the Kindle itself, and launched TWRP Recovery to install the rom/firmware.
When it was done installing, I was such a nutjob not thinking, that I decided to also delete everything (system, sdcard, cache, dalvik-cache), as well as to tell it to restore to factory settings, where I immediately after told it to reboot. Totally dumb, I know it, so now it's stuck at the "original"/orange Kindle Fire-logo, and just hanging there (i'm able to turn it on/off though), hence it can't restore stock firmware since I deleted everything off the kindle after I installed that stock firmware. It doesn't even have TWRP anymore (boot options doesn't appear when turning the kindle on.)
I also tried to connect it to the USB-port on my PC, (already have drivers installed), but it just gives me the "badom"-sound implying that a USB has been connected, nothing else. I can't even access the Kindle as an external storage device anymore now.
HELP!
PS: I'm running Windows 7 x64!

Fix your drivers.
Otherwise you can use SoupKit w/Linux Live USB to save yourself some hassle in getting ADB to connect. Either way, it's very likely your shell is missing or corrupt, requiring a factory cable to get into fastboot.

You said u heard the beep when u connect.. did u check it in the Device Manager..
You might see it under other devices or under USB devices?
If you are able to see it then you might have a chance

Yesterday I wanted to connect my rooted Kindle Fire to my computer to sync books onto. I would connect it with a micro USB and the notification would come up to connect the kindle to my computer and I did as i always have. Only this time the kindle said it was connected but my computer shows no external devices in Computer except in the bottom right an option to Safely Remove USB Device is still their while my computer does not recognize it. After restarting the Kindle and my computer multiple times i tried using several different micro USB cords. After giving up I decided to factory reset it in the Kindle setting. It reset and started to reboot and it froze on the Orange and white Kindle Fire logo after the blue and white bootmenu. My Kindle Version is 6.3.1 and TWRP is 2.1.1. Every time i try to open normal boot mode and reset boot mode it would freeze and the only thing that is working is Recovery mode. I figured that something went wrong so i tried to wipe the system from TWRP and reboot it but the same thing happens. After searching for an answer i came here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1977311 I read it and tried to mount my Kindle as a usb device but it still will not show up on my computer. So now i am left with a bricked Kindle Fire and can't connect it to my computer to try and fix it. If anyone can help PLEASE!!!! respond as soon as possible!
Reinstall drivers from kfu.
Then try mounting USB through twrp again.
It also appears that the computer recognizes the kindle but you can't see it in computer? Go to the device manager on your computer, and see what your kindle is recognized as.
Even if you can't get your computer to fully recognize it as a mass storage device, try to push through the steps in kfu. If kfu says " waiting for device" restart the kindle.

I know its too late now but never ever do a factory reset from settings if you are rooted .sounds to me like u have a soft brick and should be able to get it back especially if you can still get into twrp you also need to make sure its a first gen kindle and not a second gen. The second gen kindles have locked bootloaders and have to be rooted differently than a first gen

Luckily you have FFF installed (blue & white KF logo). The orange & white logo is the stock boot animation. Typically this would be a big problem, but you have FFF and access to recovery so all is well.
You need to download a ROM and get it to your sdcard so you can flash it in recovery. If you want to keep using stock, I'd suggest using MoDaCo rather than attempting to revert to stock as that would only compound your problems.
You have a couple options but considering you can't get your sdcard mounted to USB, you may be looking at bigger problems. Try to "adb push" the ROM to your sdcard. If for some reason when you navigate to the sdcard in recovery, you only see a single TWRP folder and nothing else, you'll have to reformat...maybe even repartition (easier than it seems).

SoupMagnate, i attempted to adp push the rom onto the kindle, the daemons started running and then it said no device found. How would i reformat it or re partition it?

Please help! I was trying to flash an ICS rom on my kindle fire 2. I rooted it a few days ago and flashed JB rom by following the instructions here..

Everything was working fine untill i flashed Gede ICS rom. Now whenever i press the power button the device keeps repeating the logos
First the Kindle Fire one and then the Blue and White Kindle Fire logo.. The later one stays for only a second.
Before, i could press the power buttong by pushing it during that logo but that doesn't seem to work now...
If only i can enter recovery mod i have powerpoints45's ROM resting in a folder in the internal SD card..
EDIT: When i plug the device with the PC using a usb cable (the normal one) nothing happens.. it doesn't show up in the devices list and neither do i hear any kind of sound..

yeah you flashed a kindle fire (1) rom for a kindle fire 2, thats a guaranteed brick. do you have a fastboot cable?

You mean a factory cable! No but i'll get it tomorrow if that's what i need to fix it.. can it be fixed? or is it bricked for good? =(
yeah they can usually fix 95 percent of kindle fire bricks, im pretty sure you'll be able to fix your kindle with it. and yes factory/fastboot cable are on in the same.

I don't pretend to be an expert on this, hopefully someone with a little more knowledge than me will chime in, but the factory cable when automatically start your kindle fire in fastboot mode, it will be able to be read by your pc, the only trouble you might run in is with drivers, but it's nothing that can't be fixed. Then i would go over to hashcode's rom and follow step by step his instructions (fastboot method) for installing bootloader and then cm10.1. But like i said, someone with more information than me will hopefully post on here

alright I had that problem before sounds stupid but turn on the kindle before attaching the cable make sure the drivers are installed I have them if you need them and what system is running on your pc? and before all of that you need to find your self someone with backed up fastboot cables.

I installed the drivers but i'm not sure whether they are the right ones coz they don't seem to work now.. i'm running windows 7 x64 and it used to detect the device before it got bricked but now it doesn't do anything..
I searched all over the market today but can't seem to find a factory cable is it okay if i try to do the home made Fastboot cable thing? or should i order one online instead..

Why don't you think the drivers are working and homemade fast boot cables are okay but if there not done right they just want work or cut out half way though my fast boot cable it great just make it your self or get a Scorpion cable
I don't hear the sound the window makes when you connect something to the PC.. other than that there is no device recognized in the device manager.. so i figured there might be something wrong with the drivers too now.. i'm trying to make one if i can't i'll be getting the scorpion one you mentioned.. thanks

I had the same problem: I bricked it when I wiped the data (and the rom I was going to load). I tried Windows and Mac, to no avail. Then I used my Linux machine.
Get an Ubuntu Live CD, and check out this tutorial; it worked like a dream:

I was able to adb sideload the Rom and Gapps very easily via the terminal and TWRP on the KF2 - with a regular / stock micro USB cable.
Be sure to use 1949 and 0x1949 as the Kindle vendor IDs in the tutorial.

I 'v asked my cousine to bring the factory cable on his way back here from Cyprus. Thank you Yudanjah i'll try your method too and then tell you if it worked for me or not..
using twrp i accidentally erased everything on my kindle fire 1st gen. this includdes the main operating system. i can tell because when i go tot the reboot option it says something like, "are you sure, no operating system."
Go to TWRP.
Connect Kindle to PC
In TWRP, go to Mount
Select Mount SDCard
Kindle Should now appear in PC
Pass ROM thru PC to Kindle.
UnMount Kindle from PC
Install your ROM
You now have a OS

nevermind i figured that out. but now i have another problem. i got it back to when it boots up the fire logo is orange. but it just stays at that screen and doesnt show up on my computer when plugged in. i have a mac

it stays brightly lit. when it first starts up i see the logo, then a few seconds later the screen goes black for half a second
then goes back to the same brightness kindle logo

Mounting doesn't work
Have exactly the same original problem, accidentally wiped os and everything. When I copied the rom from my computer over to sdcard the first time, i guess it didnt work because when i went to install the rom from twrp, there were no zip files to be found (no files at all). My exact problem is that When I mount the sdcard from TWRP, the computer doesnt seem to recognize it, nothing happens, and it doesnt appear under Computer.
Using windows vista 64bit
EDIT: I did a little playing around with things and found that the reason for this is probably because TWRP says
E:Unable to locate volume information for USB storage mode,
in the terminal, now my question is, how do i fix it?
Hey guys my name is Vito, even though this is my first post I have been reading Xda developers forums for a while. More than a year ago I bricked my first generation Kindle Fire and ever since been trying to unbrick it. These days i have a new version of kindle fire but from time to time i get back into trying to fix the old tablet without succeeding. I've read many threads on this forum in regards to Kindle Fire trouble shooting and used the search button dozens of times so i hope i don't repeat an existing threads. I am posting here as my last resort to try to trouble shoot the problem and get some experienced advice to hopefully fix the tablet because i failed trying to fix it on my own.
My kindle fire 1st gen has been rooted, it has FireFireFire bootloader v1.4a and working TWRP v2.2.2.1 also I got factory cable and otg cable, and USB debugging Disabled, No ROM,
How I bricked it: One day i was playing with an operating system tuning application and after pressing auto tune kindle fire either froze or shut down and when i power it back on it would just freeze on "booting, with blue kindle fire logo". That's where i made a few mistakes i believe, instead of researching xda developers forum thoroughly i went into TWRP and wiped cache, dalvik cache, factory reset, and unfortunately system (ROM) however i did not wiped the external storage so that still there. Also USB debugging was disabled on my kindle fire at the time i bricked the device.
What I tried to fix it: I tried to install and re install many different kindle fire drivers for windows on at least 4 different computers and operating systems ( XP, WIN7, WIN8 ) but my kindle fire would not be detected and adb would not work, also tried going trough guides on installing Android SDK and getting ADB working but now i know that i wont be able to get ADB working without having USB debugging enabled.
So i ended up with only one option Fastboot. I tried installing Ubuntu on one of the computers with soupkit but linux would not recognize kindle fire being connected, it would always say waiting for device, same thing would be if i log on to ubuntu from flash drive boot.
Also when i type # lsusb command in ubuntu command prompt it gives me all usb ports and connected devices but kindle fire does not get detected in any mode while my new kindle fire does get detected in ubuntu once connected.
When i get into fastboot mode and i type # fastboot getvar product every time i get < waiting for device >.
So that's about it, all the above i tried and re tried hoping to get it going but im either doomed or im just doing something wrong or missing something all the way which is possible. I would really appreciate anyone's help and feedback on this post and would really love to just try to figure this thing out.

I am new and far from an expert, however, I just discovered if you have TWRP, there is an option to mount the sdcard space and copy files. Not sure about the version you have but give it a try:
- Connect USB to PC
- Boot on TWRP
- Mount sdcard
- copy ROM (make sure you use one that works with your TWRP version and whatever other software is there)
- install ROM
Like I said, far from expert, but I believe all you need is a ROM.
pokeys fire kit should sort it. im back in 2 hours. i can help you then

Hey Lovejoy777, thanks for the help, I will send you PM.
it does not mount it? Or it does not show on Windows? If it is the Windows part, you probably need the drivers. I used Kindle Fire Utility v0.9.9.zip.
