Hey all. I am updated to the new JB update on my galaxy s3 i747 on SaskTel. And i have had a few issues with receiving sms. I am getting all my messages, but some received texts have the wrong time stamp and are ordered incorrectly. I sometimes ask a question, and when they reply to that question, it will appear before my sent text, with a time difference of a few minutes. Anyone know what could be causing this, or how i can fix it? it is rather annoying. thanks!
Same problem here. Same phone with Jelly Bean on SaskTel.
Example:
I send my brother asking a question. My brother replies but his message shows above my message, appearing like he sent his answer before I sent the question. Really frustrating.
Those time stamps are provided by the network, so there's not much you can do to address it.
My brother has a SGS2 on the same network and the same conversation is in order on his phone.

Just a thought - do you have the messaging app set to use sent timestamps or received timestamps? It's possible only one or the other of those is wrong.

I remember this happening to my rooted g1 with the slow and sort of crappy sense ui installed; so when my wife complained that her text messages on her Slide dont go in order i was shocked that the problem STILL exists.
I didnt see a thread about it here, sorry if i missed it. Anyone else have text message conversations where the texts are out of order? Phone is stock btw
I appear to have that same problem too, but I'm using stock Android right now. If we have the same problem I can elaborate on it more.
My problem seems to be that if I get a text message reply from someone and it's in the same minute as the last text message I sent the person, their text will go above mine, even though they sent their's after I sent my text.
So for example: I send a text to somebody at 3:20:15PM and that person sends a text to me at 3:20:55PM, their text will go above my 3:20 text, making it look like they sent the message first.
I had this problem as well, before my phone was rooted and even after. The only solution i have found is to install a different SMS app, which i use Handcent because its the closest to the stock app, and its free.
interesting, my wifes is stock and she said it happened with texts that were no more than a minute apart as you mentioned.
i just cannot believe this is still a problem. Sense UI is neat but this sure seems like a fundamental feature that shouldnt have such issues...
same thing has been happening to my texts, before and after root.
i can say the same thing happens to me also

Over the New Years weekend I got a text from a friend saying something like "Hope everyone has a safe New Years!". From the message it was obvious that it was sent to more than one person. I just happened to be with another friend who also received the same text. He has a Droid 3 and in his Messaging app the Send button changes to Send to All or something of that nature. Is there a way to easily tell if a message has been sent to multiple recipients without looking at the message info? I feel like this would be a huge help considering that replying to those sends a text to everyone who got the initial message. Hope that was clear.

Right I get that. But sometimes a message can seem like it only was sent to you, but then after you reply you find out that it indeed was not. I was hoping for an obvious way to tell, like on the Droid 3 messaging app changing the send button to say send to all.

Unless I'm mistaken, that Send to All is a Motoblur specific feature. I don't think by default that SMS messages sent to multiple recipients automatically reply to all recipients. MMS messages might, but not SMS.
I may have to test it later. I'm fairly certain the replies go only to the sender, though.

I figured that was specific to Motoblur. I like that feature though. Makes it really simple knowing if you received a mass text. I was hoping to find an app or ROM that has this feature as well.
I know this was an old issue before we had Gingerbread, but I was surprised when a coworker of mine with the same phone (Tmo GS2) told me (and showed) me that he was experiencing this still even on a brand new phone (used to have the issue on his old Vibrant).
What happens:
Receive a text message, open up the conversation. Shows the correct conversation, but if you look more closely at who the actual Recipient is, it will be some other random contact.
Any ideas out there? Is Samsung using older, unpatched source for messaging?

I thought this was an issue that had been resolved though. I've never experienced the problem, on the same device, though I run custom ROMs not stock.
Wasn't this Tiger Woods' excuse?

I was having problems with receiving texts on Bell as well when I was running the stock rom. I wouldn't get any texts for a while and then as soon as I sent one out they would all flood in. Sometimes sending out a text didn't even work and I'd have to restart the phone, so if you haven't already tried that, give that a shot (pull the battery as well, just to be sure). If that doesn't work I'd give bell a call
I'm on CM9 now and I haven't had any issues yet
Good Luck!
When I receive an MMS from a contact, my phone displays it in its own, separate conversation with two senders: one being the contact and the other being my own phone number. If I reply to the message, it replies to my contact and it also sends me the same text... from myself.
I'm totally confused with this. Has anyone else had this issue, or know of a fix?
Factory reset?

I've done plenty as I tend to flash every new version of task650's AOKP ROM.
