I'm not a expert on these things but I think that thev interface of the app isen't totally dependent on the android version, like for example the new youtube app has a similar interface to that of Ics apps and ICS galery is modded for gingerbgead, but still if you want the exact apps from, ICS to Gingerbread it's logical to asume that it is not posible, for example the same version of gmail or of any app loks different case of the sistem (with apps like S-voice for example it's only possible if google mackes a modded, downsized wersion of it)

Bit of a noob question here, tried searching and found squat, and it's not really my area of knowledge..
Would it be possible to get some system apps such as Browser, Launcher2 etc. from ICS onto GB? I tried... and failed lol
anyone?
They would need compiling for the Rom from source

The GB ROM should have the ICS Framework.

Nope
No Matter what it won't work! All system apps in ICS cannot I repeat cannot be used in Gingerbread.
Whats the reason for this?
Google has developed a new API source for ICS which does not work on 2.3 and lower, Thats why when you rip a App from the ICS and try to install it to your Gb, what happens is it appears as Problem Parsing Package etc...Thats because the new OS has an updated source of API's
But here are a few stuff you can get for you gb which is ideal

ICS Messaging " Search up in market "
CC 3D (ICS) Launcher " Impersonates ICS On the spot, awesome but the 3d View kinda ruins it.
Find it also in the market.

Hope this helped
Hello everybody,
for some days I've been using ICS on my SGS.. Everything is very smooth and good, but I miss the camera functionality of the JVU-ROM.
I've tried to simply copy over the odexed camera.apk to my ICS-ROM but it is not even shown in the launcher.. So I can't start it!
Anybody else tried to use the JVU camera on ICS? Interrests?
put a "[Q]" or "?" in topic title :/
btw,
I think is impossible. cause Samsung's camera app use framework and I never seen Samsung's Camera app in CM or ICS or MIUI ROMs.
perhaps you are right, haven't found any posts due to this thematic..
does anybody know a good alternativ from the market? with the nice panorma function of samsungs camera app?

Is not impossible but it is not allowed by Samsung -due to copyrights.
That's why didn't see Samsung apps (not only the camera) in cyanogen or miui!

I think that would be no problem, because I payed for those apps as I bought my SGS and if I use this app on my SGS nobody can say something...
The camera app should not be in CyanogenMOD or MIUI but a flashable apk for those who want to use it on AOSP-ICS for SGS would be a nice thing.. I will try a little bit around with this

so porting would be possible.yes or not?
Yes, it's only a cm based rom
2 problems i founded while porting the rom,is that rom is not deodexed.i readed somewhere that porting the odexed rom is very hard and second problem is that its build.prop is really really mind cooker ,build.prop is really really different than our device.but still try to port this rom and then test whether its working or not..
edit:Rom was successfully ported but everything is being FC .will try to fix its problems.
Porting odex is same as deodex
You could also deodex it with a GUI, nothing different than decompiling samsung's firmware.
Leave build.prop like it is currently and try merging the /system/etc/permissions/ files inside together.

try it urself xD
you will land in a, hmm, mess of nothing, i promise you

deodexing it with xultimate is required a device by which the rom boots but constantly FCing and every second hot reboots.if there is any software which deodexes the rom without using the device?
will try to merge the files inside the /system/etc/permissions/
Xultimate can do I think, if you select the right option

wont work
the hot reboots are lib related parts ...
(Example: libsystemconector or libanthhal.so )
The problem is you can debug it (try) with adb or ksmg ...
still both parts didn´t worked for me ...
It has REALLY nothing to do with deodexing or not ...

He means the rom is currently FCing and xultimate allows deodexing from phone by pulling all apks but due to reboots and FC's he is unable to proceed.
However, the FC's are not related to a odexed rom.

Guys, since I have my Gio, I never had a normally working GTalk on any of the GB roms. ICS or JB works just fine, but they are still in beta stages and no such stability as GB offers. I am using Gmail and GTalk 24/24 for my work and I need these 2 elements more than anything. My issue is that GTalk alaways keeps disconecting nomatter I'm on wifi or 3g or 2g. It works a few minutes than it disconetcs, than connects back, and so on. This creates me alot of problems as I always dont get messages on time or even cant send mesages always, have to wait until it connects back. I have tried more than 7 different ROMs for our GIO and they all turn this way. Where to lok for to find a stable GTalk for my Ginger Bread roms? I am sure that this problem is common for most of GB users but not everybody pays attention but I really need this app to work stable as my work depends on it. I dont want to use trillian or other apps for GTalk. Please advice what to look for.
Thank you
BTW, where can I find Gtalk app? Is not available in Play store.
from here Talk.apk
gtalk is part of gapps.

ICS go to hell...:banghead:
How do you guys use ICS!!
I tried different roms and all of them claims to be the fastest.
But they all sucks because of ICS.
It is just too slow, and the ram can't handle it.
I'm currently on gingerbread.
I see many people are using ICS, and I really wish to use it to!
Sorry for the bad English. :XD

I also use GB Rom, I've tried too many ICS Rom but yes it is laggy even I tweaked it thorougly, I don't want to name those
in my experience, talking about ram, smoothness & speed---> I recommend Jelly Dream 2.6 by MXY1997
Interface may be laggy but I supercharged it with zep's script and changed Home Launcher ADJ to 1

Why don't you try Jelly Bean? ICS doesn't cut it for me either, and Gingerbread is too antiquated for me. Agreed, CM10 and CM10-based ROMS might not have that "attractive" appearance like many ICS ROMs do, and they might be a little low on stock Sony features, too (Bravia Engine and xLOUD, for one), but they're very, very smooth. You might want to give one a go and see if it works for you.
Version 7.1.4 of zohaibs Xperia T ROM is really smooth and preserves the Sony look and features.

Try.zelly.cream and choose xperia GX launcher and delete system apps (running in.background) i deleted so many system apps over 20 apps and it is fast and i have always 113 mb free ( with livewallpaper enabled) without livewallpaper about 130 mb
I also use Seeder app and set it do moderate
And you have all xperia Z features like smallapp , walkman etc
Sorry for my English xD

Playing game ? -> Xbox , WII ...
Making call ? -> traditional cellphone..
Taking photo, video ? -> prosumer or portable camera..
Listening music ? -> media player, ipod..
Reading books ? -> Kindle..
What do you want if all these can be put into a 125 x 63 x 8.7 mm box ?
Bonus : a portable tester/simulator for a software developer.
