So I have had my galaxy nexus for less than 24 hours. I was transferring some files over and when I was done I had shut off my phone. Now every time I turn the phone it freezes in the boot animation. I managed to get into the stock recovery and do a factory reset, but still the phone locks up.
Can I reflash the stock image? I would have to do this with fastboot?
Yes. Check the stickies in the development forum there will be guides on how to flash good luck. If I wasn't on my phone I would attempt to help more but I can't get to a computer :/

I was thinking of using the toolkit in the dev section to load the stock rom. I can only get to fast boot on the phone but that should be ok? Correct?
Yes, fastboot should be all you need.

If you want to learn how to do it, instead of using a toolkit, try a doing it yourself by using something like this.
Well that sucked... Tried the tool kit to reflash the stock image and now the phone wont turn on at all. So I'm off to the store tomorrow to return it. I think the internal memory must of screwed itself when I was transferring files from my mac to the phone, as it would never boot after that. I have never had internal memory fail on a phone before...
Instead of using the toolkit try odin

Instead of using a toolkit or odin, use fastboot/efrant's guide like he told you to.

Search, there's been a million threads just like yours - you aren't a special case.
Check the Q&A section... everything is there.
Have you tried flashing any rooms? If you can get it to boot you can use Adw to pull things off the phone.

and btw, Bricked means the phone shows no activity at all. If it will power up, it isn't bricked. If you can get any kind of activity from it, it isn't bricked. The technical term you should be using is "borked". Your phone is borked.
Just trying to help!!
Download the galaxy nexus tool kit in the cdma thread and it'll have step by step instructions, you will lose everything on your SD card tho.

There is a restore with ODIN sticky in the development section somewhere.

Someone please help me. I tried to flash the unroot back to stock through twrp as ma5 wasn't working all that well for me and i wanted to start from scratch unrooted and get the sprint ova for the ma7.
So i flashed the file and it said that it was successful. It even went to the special recovery like it was supposed to before rebooting. Now we get to the problem. The phone wont reboot. It just stays on the first black galaxy note 2 screen. Is there anything i can do to fix this? Someone please help me.
U coukd try and flash another rom or use odin to flash a stock rom.

I tried both of those already. It acts like everything flashes ok but then when it reboots, it stays on the black note 2 screen
You can try flashing twrp through odin and make sure auto reboot is not checked
Then reboot into recovery and flash a rom.
Unless you can reboot into recivery, cause if you can then this is pointless.

I had to order a new phone through Sprint. Luckily it was so screed up they couldn't tell whether it was rooted or not. Which is double good because I also had a broken secure element

I'm on ICS 4.0.4 just Rooted last night with custom recovery. So I just dl what JB Rom I want and flash in recovery like my HTC Evo Lte?
All this reading has got me confused as to what to do. Plus this being my first Samsung device doesn't help any.
Thanks for the help

Just follow the instructions for the specific Rom you want. All roms have their flashing instructions And the jb ones are more specific too. Those are listen in the thread for that Rom as well.

You need to do a full restore one click to GB27 full root restore which is jelly bean. Something in the system has to be formatted before you flash a custom jelly bean ROM.
RWilco has all the stuff you should need

OK I'm on FL24 but I need to run GB27 next?
If so then it's OK to use the GB27 (rooted) (preserve user data) option?
Thanks

EDIT: ok i ran the GB27 so at this point i can download a JB rom and flash in recovery ?

You need to do the one that wipes data since you're going from ics to jb. It's going to delete whatever you have on the internal sd so back up the files. After you do that then you can flash a jb Rom on it. I'm on my phone right now so I can't really link you to the thread easily. Look for the jb roms they should have links to all you need to set up a jb Rom.

I've been reading a lot and it's my understanding that every time I flash a Rom I have to flash the kernel separate?
And all I read is CWM Recovery, is there not a TWRP Recovery for this device ?
And (Modems) this is included in all TW Roms. But if I flash cm or aokp Roms I have to flash this separate and use ICS modem?
Thanks

All correct.

And during flashing a Rom Tar via Odin for pc if the phone is unplugged b4 Odin finishs then that will Brick my phone ?

Very possible. Never unplug until the process is complete.

It is hard to fully brick, but it can happen. Take your time and read as much as possible.. When I got my first Android device, Samsung Captivate, I spent the better part of 3 weeks reading before I even attempted root and another full day of reading for installation of a custom ROM. You always have to be prepared to have a paper weight on your hands. You can't panic if you get stuck in a bootloop. Rule of thumb, 95% of the time if it still turns on, it can be fixed. What I do now is read as much as possible before I even get the device. I was reading and researching for 4 days before I got my S4 had it rooted and ROMd in an hour after I got it.

Yea this phone is so complicated to flash roms and other things. And I thought My HTC one and HTC evo lte was hard. But I love trying out new phones so it keeps me from getting bored.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
The E4GT is easy. Try figuring out the S4. That's what I am on now. There are so many different things to worry about.
Sent from my SGH-I337 using xda premium
One of the main reasons why I like HTC devices because when you flash the ROM the kernel is flashed at the same time if yr S-Off were this phone you have to flash the kernel separate from the rom and then you have to use ClockworkMod recovery which I don't care for. I prefer TeamWin recovery. But my wife's GS3 is similar to htc devices download the Rom and flash and it has TeamWin recovery. But I got this phone to flip so I'm not going to keep it but who knows.

So here's what happened - I installed digitalblur but forgot to install the 4.3 bootloader prior to flashing digitalblur. ROM flashed fine and went thru setup of rom and then as I always do after setup I like to reboot the phone. But it wouldn't reboot, all it would do is continue to boot loop at the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 screen. Now I can't get into recovery. Anyone have any ideas of what I can do to fix this issue?

If you can get into download mode, you should be able to Odin back to stock.
