[Q] Web Browser Dim - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi!. I upgraded to 4.04 and now I can't access the browser's brightness settings. I used to be able to adjust settings before the upgrade. It is very annpying to browse the web with these settings. Please let me know how to override this. Thank you a lll in advance

Check if you have "Power Saving" on in your notification. If it's on you can turn it off, or go into the power saving menu under settings and turn off just the browser dim settings.

Any way to keep screen always on for some apps?

Now on ICS, my screen turns off while driving on every app other than Navigation or Vlingo. Any way to keep the screen on while charging or running specific apps like Maps or Music?
Thanks in advance...
Before you use them go to settings and change your screen timeout. Under settings you can also change it so your screen stays on while charging. Other then that check the settings for the app. I know Pandora has a setting to keep the screen on or let it auto dim.

Where is this option in settings? Used to be there in GB, cannot find it in ICS.
Download Screen On from the market. That's what I use to keep my screen on while charging. You can set it to stay on for whatever app you want.

Several options...Screebl, Screen On, and my favorite...Tasker
Funny you ask this question. I've been struggling to keep my phone awake when on a phone call via bluetooth. I work out of my home office and use my phone with a bluetooth care speakerphone. Unfortunately the usual timeout settings don't work when in a phone call, so I couldn't simply set my screen timeout for, say 1 hour, and keep it on during a call. It would still turn off in both stock OS and CM9, which I'm currently running.
Yesterday I figured this out. I now use Tasker with the Secure Setting plugin. Secure Settings has a setting for "Wake Device" and I use the options of "Screen Bright" for Wake Type and "Manual - On" for Duration. When the call ends, I have an exit task for "Wake Device" with options of "Screen Bright" (not sure it matters) and "Manual - Off". Works very well.
But for other apps (that don't overide the system timeout settings), I simply have a Tasker profile that sets my timeout settings to 10 minutes. Could set it longer, but that's sufficient for me.
If you have Tasker, I recommend using it for this purpose...one less app needed. However, I've read good things about Screebl and Screen On, so both are worth a look.
btw -- be careful in leaving your screen on. The Amoled screens suffer from burn-in.
Just a word of advice you shouldn't leave the screen on for amoled devices. I have had this phone for about 6 months and my notification bar is slightly burned it but not to annoying since its always there. However my ex girlfriends samsung fascinate had icons burned on the screen. You could always see them. That was pretty annoying.

Another vote for Screen On. I've been using it for a while with great results.

[Q] Does your WiFi go to sleep while screen is off?

Hey,
I've noticed no matter what settings I use for the WiFi sleep policy, it remains on and drains a bucket load of juice.
Any observations?
P.S. my bad, if there's a thread already. couldn't find it
Actually i am super glad. I like to still receive emails, new alerts, sport scores etc when phone is sleep. I would of returned the phone in a heart beat if I didnt have a data connection in sleep mode.
What setting you use.
In wi-fi,there is advance option where you can define sleep policy.

Hello,
You can adjust the WIfi option with *#0011# code on dialpad.
When entering ServiceMode, press the Menu button and select "WIFI".
Check if your WIFI Power Save Mode is turned On or Off.
Hope this help. :silly:

[Q] Disable auto lock screen

I've got a Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100. Do you know how to stop automatic screen lock on Android 4.1.1? I can't download GTA 3 as the screen lock interrupts it's setup download process.
If you install widgetsoid you can do it from there. It allows you to extend the screen on time or also has a stay awake command. There is also a separate command to disable auto screen lock as well.
It's free. Have fun.
Keith
You could go to the settings menu, scroll all the way to the bottom, enter the developer options. Then check the box that says stay awake during charging. Then leave your phone on the charger so that it won't sleep while you are downloading. Please press THANKS if I assisted you.
Now I use Domination ROM which allows you to disable this in options. There is an app called Screebl which could be configured to solve this problem. It's an app that keeps the phone awake depending on the angle it's held at. Prop the phone up at an angle and problem solved.

Stock weather widget

Hi just want to ask fellow members about the stock weather app. Mine is not updating until I refresh the weather widget. I set it to refresh every hour but it doesn't auto update. Sometimes I would see the weather widget was last updated 12hrs ago and will only update when I hit the refresh button. I tried to install and re install the widget but no luck. Any advice and help will be appreciated much.
