Kindle Fire Stock Jelly Bean 4.1.2 dpi change - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hashcodes rom works really well on my device but all fonts are a bit too small and upper taskbar is about half of screen wide. I've tried to change dpi with DPI Changing and similar apps from Google Play but my Kindle got bootloop.
Is there some other way to change dpi without any app ?

Just curious on what DPI value caused the bootloop.....

Yea you have to be careful with some of thoes dpi changers from the market. If you can boot into recovery I suggest just restore a nandroid or reflash.
Had this happen to me before

Never had it bootloop on CM10/SGT7 ROM using many different DPI settings just to see what it could do

Cyanogenmod roms have dpi changing built in.

LCD Resolution - WOW!

Hi all,
After coming over from the EVO 3D, I found the HUGE fonts, etc on the SGS2 disconcerting and ugly. I longed for my small clear fonts and tight spacing on the EVO3D qHD screen.
So I just downloaded LCD Resolution, a free app from the Market and set the Resolution to 200. Wow, what a difference! It is now just like looking at my EVO 3D with a better screen.
Awesome.
P.S., If you are using LauncherPro which doesn't have the ability to resize icons or fonts as Go Launcher does you will find this especially helpful. I have found Go Launcher to be an FC fest on the SGS2.
The resolution changing doesn't size right with some stock apps so I stay away from it. If the font is to big or not to your liking just change font size and style...try a ics ROM it has the option to change the font size built into the ROM.

What rom are you running?
LCD Density Pro set to 200 causes my phone to freeze on boot with FC15
I used LCD Density Pro to fix market on Touchpad.
Switched my LCD Density to 200 using ROM Toolbox, no problems there on CM9.
I had used LCD Resolution...with my Thunderbolt and ET4G- until I started getting incompatibility to download apps from Google Play (Marketplace). So if you do experience that, you may have to uninstall the app.
Hi guys. Thanks for the responses.
A couple asnwers here regarding LCD Density Pro. Have no idea as my OP is regarding an app called LCD Resolution. I am running the latest EL29 modem. I've tried this on a number of the top roms and all worked fine.
The benefit of this is that it also makes my icons smaller which was the problem when using LP on this device.
I've now set mine to 190 because I like that even better. Sorry it doesn't work for some. Works perfectly for me.

I got mine at 160 and i like it

Where is the font size option on tw ics roms? See the font style but I've only seen font size on CM9 roms.
I tried changing the font via rom toolbox on the newest fc15 but it only changed in apps, not the whole rom. Weird.

For anyone who is using changed LCD density and having issue with market download, check this thread -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529227
It's always working fine for me for both GB and ICS.
For any questions, please let me know.
Is there a specific density that keeps the dialer from shifting or a fix?
I love 200 but the dialer is way off.
Thanks

Any reason I can't get LCD density changes to stick with Calks ICS 1.1 and Apex Launcher?

No not till cm lands!
You won't have the tablet notification bar but you still can change the DPI to fit more on the screen
I personally use ROM Toolbox to do this, pretty simple

Looks like there's no way to do it unless you have a rooted device.

Change complete system DPI to 241 on touchwiz ROMs?

So I've tried a few of the newer 4.2 ROMs and love the ability to change the system DPI...not just on a per app basis. What I'd like to do is change the DPI on touchwiz ROMs. Is this possible? I have exposed installed and see that I have the option to change the system ui DPI, but it does not seem to do anything.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda premium
All you need to do to change DPI on any ROM is edit the build.prop file. But be careful, many bad things can happen if you edit the wrong line.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2
If you do decide to go ahead with it, rom toolbox lite can do this sort of thing. There are other modders like dpi modder pro but it soft bricked one of my phones, so I'd stick wtih room toobox.
Xposed is working on my phone with stock rom. I had to reboot a few times to get system ui to take. The good thing about xposed to the other modules you can run like call recording and multi dpi playstore.

Search for Xposed framework mod. In there you can assign different DPI for any app, so set your system to 240 and set launcher to 320. Unless you just want more shortcuts on "desktops" then in Xposed there is a mod that allows 5x4 icons on desktop. Look here mods repository.
Thanks for the help but i found some other post which i must have missed the first time around i browsed through.

SM-P600 - DPI Recomondations ?

I have SM-P600 2014 edition. Looking for any recommendation to increase DPI. Default is 320 I am thinking of 250. Couldnt do it using BuildProp Editor. I am rooted with stock recovery.
Any suggestions ?
I wouldn't do this if i were you. I heard somebody else tried to do this and after restarting his tablet, it went into a bootloop.
Worst thing that can happen is that you have to flash a firmware via odin
If I remem er correctly there is an app called "pimp my rom" which has tons of options. There you were able to change the dpi. I would perform a backup first and then try

Thanks for the response. How do I backup ? I have not installed custom recovery yet. is there a way to backup through stock recovery ?
Btw I tried changing with BuildProp Editor (always worked on HTC) but for whatever reason after reboot dpi is resetting back to 320.

Best off using Xposed and installing App Settings so you can change individual apps DPI and leave the system ui alone !

DPI
Xposed and App settings - set system and android to 240 dpi.
Keeps the notification bar narrow. Alternatively, use Fullscreen.
Launcher icon size will needs tweaking up and a few other quirks like keyboard. Stock Google keyboard adjusts automatically but others may need tweaking down to around 160 dpi.
Adjust other apps to your personal taste.
