So, on my stupid part, I took the USB charger out about 10-15 times in a few minutes because I was trying to fix a problem with my internal storage not showing up on my computer. I fixed it, but now my phone is very sluggish and slow (apps take longer to load, menus are very sluggish, etc) and my phone heats up within a few minutes when it's taken off sleep (even just at the home screen). It seems to be the most hot around the camera if that helps at all.
Did I cause this? Is there any way to fix it? This is on stock 4.1.
Have you tried clearing system cache? And is the phone overheating while connected via usb?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
update htc sync software to the latest.
also do a factory reset just in case if its caused by any rogue app.
Cache wipe doesn't seem to have fixed it, and no this isn't only while it's connected via USB, it happens without it as well.
do you have any pirate software installed? normally that's the main cause.

Had this problem for only a minute. Either do a factory data reset or try reflashing the ROM. Backup first of course.

Searched high and low for this. And I finally found it!
This is the exact problem I am having except it doesn't seem to be confined to ROM. Also, USB still works properly. The problem is the phone keeps thinking it's connecting / disconnecting to USB all day long and for some reason this kills the battery life. It also makes it impossible to see notifications in the bar without sliding it down (the bar is constantly flashing USB connected).
I had this problem on SRF1.2 (EC05) and ODIN'd to EH17 last night... there's no way the problem could carry over if it was a software issue right? Well, the USB was connecting/disconnecting as soon as EH17 booted.
Any insight into what is causing this? I'm starting to think my only option is to ODIN back to stock and bring it in to a Sprint store...
UPDATE: It seems the problem has 'stabilized' a bit... the USB connection is now ALWAYS considered to be on and no longer flashes connect/disconnect over and over. Maybe I just need to clean out the USB contacts?
One last bump of this thread for ideas... I really don't want to take it in to a Sprint store. Problem is still ongoing and cripples my phone to just a few hours battery life. Is there some way I can clean out the contacts of the usb connection? This might be where the "false connections" are coming from.
Open to any other ideas.
My girlfriends phone did that for about 10 minutes one day last week. I just took my better than stock micro usb cable and gently jiggled the connection a bit. We haven't had an issue with it since. Her stock cord went bad at that same point in time, so she uses a better one now as well. I would imagine you probably already tried this, but I figured i'd post my experience.

Has anyone else noticed that when charging from an outlet, the phone lockscreen becomes less responsive and harder to unlock, or is this just a problem with my phone?
I have had this issue and returned my phone that was ha in that issue for a new one? I would say it's potentially fixable via flashing a custom tom.

That happened to me after a couple ROM switches. What I did was go into CWM and actually go to mounts and storage and format data, system, cache, emms (sd card).
Then I did the standard wipe user settings, cache... installed new rom, wiped dalvik cache and fixed permissions.
After that it was completely reset in every possible way and things worked fine.

If you're not using the original charger or a non-grounded connection you run the chance of malfunction while plugged in. There was a similar issue on the Sensation.......
Mine acts the same and is also slow when plugged into charge. I assumed it was a Samsung underclock feature to make it charge quicker.
Hi all!
Since a couple of days my HTC DHD has been freezing up. Most of times it happens when i take it out of sleep mode. The bottom buttons (home, menu, back and search) do light up, but the phone doesn't respond at all. Sometimes this also happens when using the phone. The screen moves slowely, like a frame every couple of seconds before it freezes up completely. Only way to get it back on is taking out the battery and put it back in. I have installed Cyanogenmod 7.2 about a week and a half ago so i thought the problem might lie there but i switched back to Cyanogenmod 7.0 (which i have been using for the past 6 months or so without any problem at all) and the device still freezes up. This happens twice of more every day! I have wiped everything and updated all my apps and the problem still occurs. I'm really clueless on how to solve this problem.
I can provide a logcat but i have never used that before so i'm not sure on how to do this. Even then, how can i make a logcat when the device freezes up and i need to take out the battery?
Any help would be much much appreciated!!
Thanks!
Did you do a full wipe; all caches, Dalvik e.t.c
Sent from my Desire HD using Swype beta for Android!
The best way to get a logcat is using adb and perhaps a terminal emulator.
Try using the phone without the sd card to see if the problem persists.

Thanks for your replies! Sorry for the late response but had to install SDK and get it up and running.
@ GuyInTheCorner, Yes did all that except for a full wipe. Don't want to loose all my data.
@ Teichopsia, Ok did what you said and i have Logcat running now. Just tested it and it seems to be working. It's huge tho with only a couple of seconds running! Now i have to wait for the device to freeze up again and i can get to my computer while it doing it. As soon as that happens i will make a logcat and post it here.
Thanks for you help so far!
You've changed roms without full wiping? Try it without the sd card to see if there is something in the sd card causing the problem. However, you will probably need to full wipe. If after the full wipe problem persists, check without the sd card, if so, wipe the sd card.
The logcat will help figure where the problem is, but I don't know how to read one.

Meh, chalk one up for you
I agree with Teichopsia, do a FULL WIPE without SD Card to see what happens and take it from there

Ok, so it took a while but my DHD finally froze up again while i had acces to a computer. So i did a logcat. Results are in the Logcat.txt file. I hope anyone out there can read it and figure out what the problem is. Many thanks in advance!!
I started a thread for a similar problem ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1734707 ) but the behaviour you describe is identical to what was going on with my DHD.
Try disabling Wifi and see if it stalls up on you - Mine runs great so long as Wifi is turned off. With it turned on I get random freezes, and the screen not turning on with the backlit buttons lit. Removal of the battery is about the only way to get it to respond again.
I tried changing ROMs, kernels, recoveries, radios and bootloaders with varying results but nothing seemed to fix it.
I ALWAYS full wipe and clear any files relating to the previous ROM off the SD card when changing ROMs.
On 2.2 ROMs Wifi would just turn itself on and off, the phone would not freeze though. Wifi was mostly un-usable as data didn't seem to transfer 80% of the time that it was turned on.
On 2.3.x ROMs Wifi started out doing the same thing as on Froyo, but after about a week it started to freeze the phone and would not return from sleep.
On 4..0.x ROMs Wifi would generally cause a complete freeze of the phone almost as soon as it was turned on.
I hope you find a solution. Mine is the 24 month warranty.

Thanks a lot for your quick and thorough reply.

Sounds exactly like my problem. I see you have done way more research on this problem then me looking at the thread you started. So i guess the problem lies in the WIFI hardware then. If so, i could send it back for repairs. I also have 24 months warranty. Problem i have, my device fell into a bucket of water when i had it just 3 weeks (about 16 months ago) It never gave me any problems tho! Worked just fine until now. All my warranty labels turned red. I could pull them out and replace them of course. Or tell HTC that it got wet during rain and it was in my pocket. But that wouldn't be honest now would it. A friend of mine has a DHD as well but he tells me he never has this problem which makes me guess the problem only occurs with some builds of the device.
I have been using my WIFI a lot lately for tethering on my laptop. So i will try your solution of turning WIFI off first and just see what happens. Also i will go back to stock rom when ICS becomes available. See what happens ten.
For now thanks a lot Max-E-Moose for your help. I will update this thread if something occurs or i find a solution. :good:
Did u check for apps installed on sd. Try moving them on phone memory if u have space. That can help

Nope didn't try that. I just ordered a new Samsung 32gb class 10 SD card. Should arrive tomorrow. Will try that first. Maybe it helps.
Thanks anyway.
Any luck ONeils? Updatey?
Due to where I am situated, I have not had the opportunity to bring my phone in yet so am still using mobile data almost all of the time.
I didn't mention before, because I forgot about it, but have you tried using WiFix Manager from the market? I read in another thread that this solved a similar problem for some people.
I think the process is: install WiFix, install the fix from the app, then restart the phone. It should be that simple, if it works - it does nothing for my poor DHD.
Currently using JellyTime Beta 7 and I have noticed that I can turn my WiFi on, and use it for a while, but if I forget to turn it off then the phone doesn't want to wake up once the screen turns off. Wifi hasn't froze the phone entirely on this ROM... Yet.
Basically my screen keeps turning itself on even after i lock it. Sometimes it happens as soon as i lock the screen, sometimes five, ten, thirty seconds after i lock it. I just updated from stock 4.2.2 to 4.3 with no problems. The problem isn't consistent. Today it didn't do that all morning but now it won't stop doing it even after a battery pull. I tried force stop all apps besides the main ones. Uninstalled some old apps I don't use. None of it has stopped the problem. Any suggestions as to the cause of this?
There is a semi-common problem with the USB port on these devices. One of the signs of the problem is the device wakes, as the device thinks it is charging when it isn't. Perhaps this is your problem.
I think this would be it. My USB port has been acting weird, other small things.
Is there anything I can do to fix it? I have no warranty and am not afraid to open my phone

Try to clean pins in the micro usb port. Or see if the middle pin needs to be bundled
In the other hand, it can be caused by an app. Boot into safe mode and see if problem persist.

Hi everyone,
I updated my phone to marshmellow about a month or 2 ago. Things seemed fine, was running ok and never had a issue really.
Then on Saturday whilst in whatsapp the phone went dead and rebooted and started showing the optimizing apps screen. When finished it would then reboot and sit on the logo and eventualyl back to optimizing apps. It did this for over 24 hours whilst plugged in.
I then download the EU marshmellow rom for the D855 G3 from a link here, flashed that and reinsatlled everything and even felt it was running much better. Was playing spotify, pressed pause and when I came back to phone it was basically dead. Power cycled it and same story again, optimizing apps/reboot loop.
It's now reset again and running off network and just spotify and mx vide play on it as entertainment device to work/back. And the Cubot P9 which was a temp phone is about to get thrown at a wall as it's a terrible phone but served it's purpose many times.
Anyone experienced this before? is the cache faulty/memory or something and this is causing it to loose data/config and go into this eternal loop?
Thanks in advance.
This happens because UUID apps conflict, you need to uninstall all (only your apps), wipe data/factory reset, reboot, and reinstall one by one agaib patiently...
Someday i learned this...

Interesting, perhaps if I would out what I installed in the last week I might be able to work it out?
What is interesting is I setup my gmail account and didnt install apps and it's been all day. I think the last app I installed was Amazon Fire TV and then it went the following day?
So ranthe phone the entire of yesterday with only spotify and mx video installed and airplane to see if ok. Then after Dethful's recomendation I installed only what I need and moved sim back to phone.
Phone still running ok now. Hopefully it's good to go. Holding out for a daydream phone and anything with SnapDragon 821 or better so almost bought a Samsung A5 or LeTV/Elephone 1080p to tie me over. Relived phone might be fine.
