My Verizon Galaxy Nexus charges intermittently. When it is plugged in, it will charge if it is in a certain way. The cable feels loose, It will tilt from side to side and it doesn't seem sturdy. It is most of the cables I use. I have one that doesn't do this, but it doesn't charge fast enough. These cables work in family members phones without problem. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

You either have a borked usb port or it is dirty.
My SGS2 did the same thing. Cleaned the port and all was well.

I've had the same issue on multiple phones. Best advice I can give is to stick with the cable that works for it unless you want to replace the USB port on the phone.

How do I clean it?

It's quite difficult while the phone is still assembled, but some of your options include a dry toothbrush, air duster, or the most extreme option - contact cleaner.
If you don't have any luck with these, the module containing the USB port can be replaced at a reasonable cost if you're comfortable disassembling the phone yourself.

Is it just me.. Or does the charger keep falling out too easily from the charging port?
I haven't damaged it or treated it wrong.. It keeps falling out easily when I pick up the device.
I have tried the supplied white cable.. And still had my galaxy s3 cable.. Does same.
Anyone else.?

yea, it's annoying.
+1 for loose
+1 Same here
I've just trimmed a small amount of the plastic casing off the cable to make it sit better (which it does now) the angle of the bezel causes the cable not to sit fully into the port.

On inspection, I've noticed that the port is recessed quite far back into the phone. I'm hoping it's just a problem for a few handsets. I called three today and they're sending me another Note 2. Let's see if this one is any better.
No problems here. Did you try any other micro usb cable.. some fit better than others
Yep it's rubbish. The plug needs to be longer. The socket is too recessed. Easy enough to remove some of the casing of an old usb lead. Will update, to see how well it works.

As I mentioned in my previous post, trimming a cable a bit works just fine.

Mine too. Keeps falling off every now and then. I bought HDTV adapter (the Samsung proprietary one for the S3) and that has a much longer micro usb and that fits in tight. I read somewhere that samsung has modified the micro USB port (some 5 pin connector or something like that, for the MHL) could it be because of that?

What do you mean by trimming the cable? Can you please post a picture to your cable?

Long story short the micro USB port on my Nexus is shot and I can't find a new board to replace it anywhere. Anyone know where I can find one?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium HD app
eBay? Google it? They're getting em somewhere... they being all the people with this issue.
You might try sticking like a screwdriver in the port and straightening the pins out (with the phone off and battery out!). I read that may work. I actually read it here... Search here?

Just today my phone decided not to charge anymore. So I decided to boot it up with it plugged in and it gave the illusion it was charging. However when I unplugged it the charging symbol stayed. Just recently it now flutters between charding and discharging which is destroying my battery. Does anyone have any advice?

Already tried it with no avail.

I had that happen once and it was the cable. I think one of the wires in the cable had flexed just a little too much. Picked up a new cable and I was back in business. Might be a thought...

He is talking about your USB cable. If changing to a different cable doesn't help then I'm guessing your charging board is going bad (the board that controls the charging of your battery). There have been a lot if topics around about that, so do a little search and see what advice others with the same problem have done.

Yes, I saw a couple of them at a store but they really are not 100% wireless, the wireless chargers
come with a special type of case which the phone has to be in so it can charge charge wirelessly.
The usb cable from the ac wall charger has to be plugged into the base of the charger and the
phone sits ontop of the base with a special case on the phone. So what's wireless about it?
the end of the usb cable which plugs into the base is 3-4 inches from the base that the phone sits on...
In my opinion these wireless chargers are only good for people who have nothing else to think about. LOL
Those cases make the phones a bit thicker and ugly.
I'm now on my 3rd S3 which thankfully is still covered by warranty. I really would like to avoid having to go through this over and over but I'm not sure how to avoid the charger port not working properly over time. I don't think I've done anything really to provoke it. I think the case might have angled the port a little so I'll likely stop using that case
I'm curious though - is anyone else experiencing this? Looks like I can do self repair but it would require soldering skills which I don't have

Yes, have had one phone replaced already. This one is flaky as well. Bought a wireless charger for it, but have to use air droid for file transfers.

It looks like that is the case. I'm going to try it out myself. Ordered the receiver from Fast Time and a Nokia wireless charging pad from AT&T

I'm having a similar issue in that I cannot charge the phone via the USB. It starts to charge but then the LED goes off. By the morning I am down to 3% charge after 7 hours of being plugged in. I have tried 3 different batteries, 4 cables and ac adapters. I reflashed to stock and then had a Samsung guy at Best Buy reflash again. Same thing happens. The only way I can charge is with an external battery charger or if I use an iPad was charger with my USB cable...go figure.
My S3 is only a couple months old, but so far, it's holding up nicely. Is the issue actually with the charge port, or with lint from your clothes preventing the charger from connecting to the pins in the port?
No phone could have a worse charge port than the Evo 4G. I was lucky to never have an issue with it, but I know tons of people did.
I cleaned the lint out, but it still would not work properly. I also tried different batteries, cables, wall ports, usb ports, everything.
