Alright guys, you know what this is. Just like the title says, we are trying to get sbrissen a Galaxy Note 2 so he can bring us some AOSP love. He is a quality dev who doesnt just work with source after its been done, he does it from scratch! Some of you may already know who he is and the type of work he does from the E4GT, Fascinate or Droid Charge. He is an official CM developer so we all know hes legit
One "catch" if you want to call it that, is that we will be getting him a Verizon Galaxy Note 2, not a Sprint one. Reasons being that he is with Verizon and so he can also use the device personally. However, the changes between the two variants will be very minimal and it has never stopped him before. For example, my previous device (Epic 4G Touch) is a Sprint phone and yet he is the one who brought us ICS/CM9 and Jellybean/CM10. Dont let that scare you off from donating. Trust me, it will be worth it Here is some off sbrissen's past work and his github. He is currently working on AOSP 4.2 and CM10.1 for the the Samsung Droid Charge and the Epic 4G Touch and plans to bring it to the Fascinate soon enough.

Please note: No direct PM's will be accepted. Only posts in this thread will added to the donation list. No exceptions.
This is how things will go as far as donating. We will pledge our donations and I will keep the list updated. We will hold our donations until sbrissen has confirmed that he can simply walk in store and purchase the GN2. From there, I will go ahead and give the go for all donators to go ahead and follow through with their pledges. I will keep track with sbrissen on whos kept their word and who hasnt. Once he has reached the donation amount, he will go in and purchase the device. Sound clear?
Here are a couple ways you can setup your donation posts:
I pledge to donate $10.00
I pledge to donate $10.00 ONLY IF we have reached our donation goal by 12/6/12
Something like this ^^^
Lets please keep things somewhat short and simple. Please no posts such as OMG CANT WAIT FOR AOSP!1!!!1 I do have to go through every post I will start things off with $25. I am a broke college student living off my Fall semester net check so I know you guys can give 5 bucks or so (only if you want) lol. Any donations are much appreciated.
Please do not pledge if you cannot follow through with it. If you are unsure, put a disclaimer in your pledge post like I showed above. Thank you guys, lets try and make things as smooth as possible to avoid this being shut down. I have already talked to the mods and they are fine with it as long as we can behave like adults in here

[ROM/BOUNTY] Rhodium Android Port [$1360/$3290] - Early builds in post #3 [02/08]

Most of us curious about Android on our device have seen this thread. Clearly there is somewhat of a demand out there for a port. Be it for people who are sick of WinMo for some reason, or for people like me, who just want something to goof off with, at least 2,100 want to use it. Now it's time to put your money where you mouth is
I'm setting up this bounty thread to get developers interested. As it is right now we've got cr2, who seems to have been doing most of the work without a device, but mediadealer has stepped up and said he'll send his phone all the way to Germany to help with programming. We've also got riotburn, who says he has a friend who might be able to do it. If anyone else feels up to it, by all means, step up
For the end users, all I'm asking is you to tell us how much you'd pay to see it happen, and if you have any sort of stipulations. Stipulations like CDMA support, or being able to flash it to the device a la dzo's Flashable Linux and Andorid (Source here), or anything else you personally want to see
Personally, I'm offering up $25. It's not a lot, but times are tough, and I will gladly continue to donate if development continues. I don't have any stipulations. I'd love to see CDMA support, and a flashable ROM, but I'll take anything right now
Start sounding off!
Note: Please be sincere with your donations/offers. If you're interested in the project, and don't have the money, don't say you'll donate. You can still use whatever comes out of it free of charge. The donation is just that, a donation
If you have any suggestions, questions, comments, etc... feel free to post up. I'll edit the original post with anything good
Attention
For those requesting fully funtional builds: Might I suggest you offer a lower amount for any working build, and perhaps a higher second amount if they meet your requirements? If a port happens, it's probably not going to be a 2.1 flashable ROM with SenseUI right off the bat. It's going to be bare bones, and other people are going to work off of it and make their own builds. Take a look in the Vogue forum to see what I mean
Basically, you're not going to motivate anyone to do it. It's a hard goal to reach at first, and you're pledge basically becomes and empty offer. Save those types of offers/requests for once we get a port working
PS: If you have any issues with how your offer is listed, PM me

I'd get in on that.
I would offer up $50 for a working Android port to my Rhodium.
$25 for a working port bootable via Haret which can use all functions of the phone (including charger).
$100 for a native Android ROM which can replace Windows Mobile all together!
Put me down for $100 for a dzo-like full flash of Android, $50 for a Haret port.
No offence, and I applaud this, but what is a pledge worth? We should actually put the funds into some sort of escrow account.

Bounty threads are commonplace on XDA:
BOUNTY) for first flashable android rom!
[PORTED!][BOUNTY TO BE FULLFULLED]Tachi PhoneCanvas - NOW WORKS ON ALL VGA DEVICES!!!
I don't want to do one giant account. If someone backs out, or the project never happens, there is no need to refund a bunch of money
I am aware they are quite common, but this is something that would benefit now. Creating a bounty thread with no real commitment, just seems pointless to me. Put your money where your mouth is, and just do it. HTC Kaiser video driver anyone? That was at almost 10k last I remember.
It may seem pointless to you, but not to me. I just provided you two links where similar bounty threads worked out. I see no benefit in creating a large pot, not even in your Kaiser driver comparison. I see no indication that drivers would have been finished if it was done any other way. People seem to still be struggling with creating video drivers
I'm fine with the way this thread is set up, and I will not be creating a large pot. I would prefer not to argue about it anymore. If you want to, fine. Maybe someone else can step in and voice there opinion, but I prefer to keep the subject closer to the matters at hand
Yeah I didn't intend to muck up the thread. Just figured I would comment. I am trying to find a service that caters to these types of things. That if it doesn't work out, can just automatically redistribute the money. So far, have yet to find anything.
And since we are all just pledging, put me down for $35.
lol its called a bounty because you don't get paid until services are rendered. there's a good chance this will never happen so why would i give money away now? if this can be accomplished i would be more than happy to pay up.
$200 for native android
$50 for fully functional haret

But the nature of a bounty is it is cocked and ready to fire, not waiting for **** to happen. You know, just like if you are a bounty hunter, you turn your catch in, and you get the bounty right away.
i have my checkbook and pen in hand, consider that cocked and ready to fire. want me to sign my post in blood or what? stop arguing... jesus :\
lulz. All right, enough of this talk. To the bounty stuffs.
$100
I would gladly pay $100 for a full working Android 2 for my Rhodium (GSM).

PayPal, Open-Source, Donations - "Donate to me"

I'm starting this thread because a couple of months ago PayPal erroneously suspended my PayPal account and have refused to reactivate it. This account received donations to help support and cover the cost of the free open-source software I develop and distribute. In particular Heimdall, the open-source cross platform firmware flashing suite for the Galaxy S series of phones and tablets.
Anyway PayPal suspended my account because I was receiving donations. As a result they wanted me to provide evidence that I'm a registered non-profit organisation, which I'm obviously not and have never indicated otherwise. I attempted to make this clear to them but they seem hell-bent on not actually paying attention to the information I provide them with. PayPal's staff are insistent that unless you're registered as a non-profit organisation you cannot take donations, despite the fact this is not indicated anywhere in their terms of service. According to this logic every single one of the "Donate to me" links on the XDA developers website is invalid. Unless you just so happen to be a non-profit organisation. Otherwise, PayPal may just randomly decide to shutdown whatever PayPal account you have linked to your "Donate to me" button, blocking access to any funds that may presently be stored in the account.
What is particularly frustrating is that PayPal have tried to pull this on a number of open-source developers in the past. Most notably Stefan Kueng of TortoiseSVN fame. Stefan went through this exact same debacle last year and in the end PayPal admitted fault and restored his account and his ability to take donations. I've already pointed this out to PayPal however the staff that respond to me seem to be somewhat delirious and see what they want to read, leading to pointless canned responses.
As this has the potential to affect a large portion of the XDA community, and open-source as a whole, I'm posting this here in hope that some of you will chose to voice your concerns, frustration or anger towards PayPal. I'd like as many of you as possible to send PayPal an e-mail about this.
I'm unsure which e-mail address you should use for your particular locality, however I know that in Australia you'll want to send your e-mail to [email protected]. If you're outside of Australia and would like to complain to PayPal Australia anyway, as they're the ones who suspended my account, then feel free.
Please feel free to discuss this or post your e-mails here for everyone else to see. Hopefully PayPal comes to their senses!
This is what worries me about paypal. They seem to be so trigger happy about kidnapping your funds. There should be some oversight to these ****ers if they're going to act that way.
Thanks for sharing this, honestly it's the first time I really hear about this. I will pass this to administration and other mods.
Cheers,
Off topic (sorry): Mr. Clown, god that avatar and gif is freaking me out!
Thread moved to "About XDA".

Google checkout is a bit harder to use - you need to prove you are a registered charity before you can get the donate a non-fixed amount features...
Without it, you are stuck with "selling" products at varying amounts IIRC
I thought I'd let you all know I finally managed to get PayPal to restore my account. They didn't really admit fault or explain why my account was suspended, or even anything official about why they were allowing me to restore my account.
In the end I got onto the executive escalations office and they just responded with an e-mail indicating that they had changed the information I must submit. I had to provide photo ID, proof of residence and a questionnaire indicating that I'm not affiliated with any political parties. A few days later my account was restored.

Good to hear... Interesting that they don't want you affiliated with any political party (the donations criteria for them are very strict and could be a nightmare if PP allowed it).

Fairly isolated yes. I know of 2 people it's happened to. One of them took paypal successfully to court over the issue and had them "pwned" by a judge, but this was the UK...
how i can help you i live in panama, and there have alot of people developing good rom and if i donate i want to donate to the people who have develop them
last month some xda members helped me unlock my captivate so i donated to the developers (helroz and clshortfuse) and people who answered questions for me (mainly trusselo). paypal locked my account twice. yesterday i was enjoying my unlocked phone here in china so i remembered how much those guys helped and i tried to donate a small amount to just say "thanks again" and paypal froze my account again. 10 donations to date and 3 paypal account freezes. it is really frustrating when you want to say thanks with a donation but instead the person you are trying to donate to gets annoying emails from paypal. can i fix this problem? 30% of all my donations are getting flagged by paypal. paypal sucks.

Paypal is a hideous and messed up system... I don't really know if you can fix it. They work very strangely
I heard MuscleNerd (iphone jailbreaker) and his team had problem with paypal... I don't know if they managed to have their account re-enabled.
However, happy to hear your account is not blocked any more!
Paypal said they lock my account because im in china. I had already called them last month and told them i would i be in china and they said no problem. At least i got it working again. they have locked my account 30% of the time i have tried to use paypal.

Use this thread to discuss about the fix and also to chit chat about anything related the screen problems on our SGH-T989.
i think you missed the point
Supercurio said Samsung should send him one, not us
he didn't ask us to pitch in for a device
he asked us to contact Samsung and have Samsung send him a device.
found it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19142874&postcount=220

Note: I received a donation but when I tell "I don't have a device" the goal is not really to ask you to pay for it − especially since I have no idea if I'll get results eventually.
I firmly believe it's manufacturer's role to fix it. And the manufacturer here is Sam.. err no; it doesn't really works like that in the US. Manufacturer is T-Mobile.

I didn't not know about this sorry. I guess there is nothing wrong with the community to pitch in for a device....Samsung might not send him one. This is a heck of great community so I'm pretty sure we can all get him the device faster than Samsung.

there fixed your tittle
How do we go about asking Samsung to do this? I can't just say "hey give supercurio a T989" they wouldn't even know who I'm talking about.
Someone wants to organize this?
i vote for Surfacet to lead this, since he started this topic
The thing is I never done a thread like this before. This is my first thread ever on xda. This thread got sticked? I thought it got removed or something lol.
Lets see supercurio's response. I cant send him a message since he got it disabled

Contacting Samsung was kinda your idea...My idea was to make it a bounty and donate to him for the cause
Social media is a great medium.
Spam Samsung John and Carla anyone? Let's do it.
I'd be willing to donate. Just look how fast the other devs got their bounties, I bet we could get him one in two weeks or less.

Quick note: Galaxy S II audio hardware is not Voodoo Sound capable.
I work only on Super AMOLED plus, awaiting better quality audio chip in the future generations of devices (Voodoo Sound is still in development for supported devices)
Allgamer: if people want to raise funds to send me a device why not. It will always be soon enough to cancel the process if Tmo/Samsung does, and will also demonstrate users determination.
Feel free to contact Samsung reps but please avoid spamming them, it would be severely counter-productive.
As long as you are okay with that, then by all means lets turn this topic into an official [BOUNTY] for Mr. curio
WHERE DO WE DONATE?
The link in Sir Curio's signature is for donating to his Voodoo project, do we need another link for T989 screen issue only, for easier financial consolidation?
There should be another donation link but not sure if super has it or not. I'm waiting for him to give us the link to where to donate so I can put it on the OP.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
As written in the bounty guidelines, I would suggest counting first and then, later, sending the donations.
Its easier than refunding everyone if its canceled for some reason
As I cannot buy this device in France, it would be pretty nice to choose a trusty well known peer who would receive the donations, buy the phone and post it (shipping costs about $35, something like that) in my direction.
I'm listening.
I own Gigahertz Computers in Warner Robins, GA. IV never done any business in the marketplace here but I have an associate with a tmo sgs2 for $400 that is new (opened and played with but spotless and is in the box with receipt where he paid full retail from a walk-in tmo store 2 weeks ago. I have a PayPal account and would be more than happy to take on the responsibility of taking the donations and getting SC the device. I have an eBay account with 44 recent transactions (mostly phones) that is spotless everybody can checkout. Mountdenizen is the screen name. My business is a Mac / mobile device service and support shop and the eBay transactions have been done because of it. Allgamer, I'm not real sure how this all works but IV seen the thread for awhile now and have seen people talking about starting a pot for the device... just thought we may need to take the bull by the horns here. I in no way feel special or entitled to do this, just willing. I'm listening as well. My email is [email protected] and that's also my PayPal account. I'm on here on and off all day (kind of Android obsessed here) so you can contact me anytime. I do think we need to keep everything public and in the forums to keep all parties involved as transparent as possible. Off to bed, ill check back in the A.M.

You guys won't regret getting this guy the device. He will unleash its power. He is one of respectful developers on xda. Check out his work.
I'd be happy to donate a few dollars. I love super's work on the vibrant. Voodoo and voodoo sound just made it top notch.

[REQUEST] LG Optimus F3Q development device

Request for development / porting device
UPDATE 2015-01-29:
We have reached the target for this! Thanks to all!
Device is already bought.
Estimated time to arrive: Between Saturday, Feb. 7 and Monday, Feb. 16
Thanks to all donators !
Those are:
pelago :good:
Zombeezy :good:
joel.maxuel :good:
misbehave :good:
KellyC :good:
ajoh99 :good:
whitelynx :good:
Check out my F3Q threads for updates of development:
sediKERNEL thread
TWRP thread
sediROM for LG thread
To view the original OP:
As mentioned here in my announcement I am not able to develop for the F3Q anymore because I have no device anymore.
The idea would be to sum up what people would spent and using PayPal as donation target. I believe that is the easiest method for kind of that.
Each donation send to me would cost some money on my site but that would be my donation to that.
To be absolutely clear: This donations are not for my work or payment for the work already done!
The reason for this thread is to have the money to buy a development device only. nothing more - nothing less!
I do not want to get rich from this or whatever thats because the whole process will be as transparent as possible to you.
The device will be for development only because I will continue using my Captivate Glide as my daily driver.
That way I can ensure development can be made without problems according to that.
Nevertheless you will not donate for a guarantee that a special thing will happen or developed - I will only guarantee that I continue developing to some day get out the most of the F3Q.
The most important thing about transparency is how I calculate the costs. They are calculated from this offer (the last weeks and months I detected multiple price reductions. I will update the cost list as soon as I get knowledge about a price reduction, of course) : Currently available eBay offer
If you find another cheaper device which can be send to Germany do not hesitate to give me a PM!
If you find a broken device which is still usable (device need to be able to boot, touchscreen must work, display must function) then also do not hesitate to send me a PM!
If you know someone who get that device offered by their mobile provider and he/she want to sell it tell me, too
$ 119.99 - F3Q itself (Cheaper again - since today! 2015-01-22)
$ 11.28 - Shipping to Germany
$ 29.82 - Import charges
----------------------
$ 161,09 - Total
+ PayPal Fee's (may or may not be added so I cannot set a sum for this)
Click to collapse
PayPal Fee's:
International Fees:
2.9% transaction fee plus a 1% cross-border fee and/or 2.5% currency conversion.
means in worst case 6,4 % costs for each donation I receive.
or Standard Fee (depends on how the user had paid and from where etc)
2.9 % + 0.30 $ per transaction
not sure which one would met but it will mean that when one donates 10 $ about 0.29 $ to 0.64 $ will be charged by Paypal so that is something we need to keep in mind then.

Current amount and offers:
TARGET = US $161,09
- $9,31 ($10 - $0,69 paypal fee) from pelago :good: (donation already made)
- $23,72 ($25 - $1,28 paypal fee) from Zombeezy :good: (donation already made)
- $18,92 ($20 - $1,08 paypal fee) from joel.maxuel :good: (donation already made)
- $9,51 ($10 - $0,49 paypal fee) from misbehave :good: (donation already made)
- $47,75 ($50 - $2,25 paypal fee) from KellyC :good: (donation already made)
- $23,72 ($25 - $1,28 paypal fee) from ajoh99 :good: (donation already made)
- $28,53 ($30 - $1,47 paypal fee) from whitelynx :good: (donation already made)
-------------------------------
$161,46 in total - WE GOT IT !! :highfive::highfive::highfive::highfive::highfive:
No additional payments needed! Thx to all again. I keep you updated!
That means we need only: US $ --

Please reply to this thread with the amount you are willing to donate in US Dollars.
As soon as we have reached the target all of you will be notified in order to start their offered donation shortly.
Donation URL:
You can donate regardless of the fact if we reach the goal or not - but I will not refund anything when we do not reach the goal.
That means if you use the following donation URL that money will be hold until we reached the goal or too much time goes by.
In other words: When we reached the goal your donation will be used for the device - if we not reach the goal in a fair amount of time your money will be "converted" to a "normal" donation.
If you do not like that: no problem simply wait until enough people wrote a donation offer and the global "donation run" will open.
But if you accept all this and you do not want to wait you can donate right now using this link:
As the target is $2 only I strongly believe that this will come true! So if someone is willing to donate that amount do it here:
Donation - URL (click here)
Thanks
xdajog
Can you make my donation $8, to make the numbers a little nicer? Also, although you've hidden the donation link behind a spoiler, it is still there. You might want to completely remove the link it you don't want people donating straight away.

ok done. Regarding the URL you're right. I thinking about opening it from the beginning so if the user do not want to wait until there are enough offers.. If he would accept that the money is not refundable when there are not enough offers it could be ok I think.. may ease up the donation process in whole but I thought it could be a good idea .. not sure though..
I pledge $17.50 USD for now (aka ~20 CAD)...
$20 from me. Wife uses it, and certainly want to encourage continued efforts on this phone.
$10 from me.
Just made the donation on paypal.
Price reduction of the F3Q detected!
This results in about US $20 less then before!
Before: US $185,95 left
Now: only US $161,44 left
As usual:
if you find a cheaper price (including importing charges and delivery) contact me!
US $210,11 in total is the current cheapest offer which is available for shipping to Germany.
cu
xdajog
Ah, didn't notice that the link to donate is working. I promised $20 so will do the PayPal thing when I get home from work.
donated $50
My n900 is really giving out, and looks like the Neo900 is still quite a long ways out (besides being probably $800+)
So I might have to go Android
But I require a physical kb, and I would far rather use CyanogenMod than stock, so.
I can pledge $25. I challenge someone out there to match me! Let's get this done!
Just started using this phone as my daily driver and love it. Can't wait to see what else we can accomplish with it.
OK, finally got off my butt and donated. I said I'd donate $20 but made it $25.

thanks! I updated the thread.
woot! I detected a dramatic price reduction!! Instead of needing about $ 200 we now need $ 161,09 only! It means the device gets about $ 30 cheaper since the last time checked and because it got cheaper the delivery and duty is also less so we have in fact a reduction of about $ 40 ..
So to sum up: now we only need US $ 36,44. That seems to be somehow possible.. ?!
Greetings
Considering CAD<->USD exchange rate keeps getting worse, I figured I'd donate now. $20 coming your way @xdajog.
I'll donate $30; that should cover the remainder.
Good luck with continuing development!
Edit: Donated.
It seems that although I was the first to pledge money, I was the only one to have not paid in advance! So I have just paid my pledged $8 and an additional $2. Hopefully this will allow you to buy your device.
I haven't actually got one myself, although I'm tempted at that ebay offer you found (I'm in UK). If only it had more internal memory, a backlit keyboard, and better specs in general...

no you are not the last one Unofrtunately @ajoh99 has problems with using paypal (and I'm not able to offer any other payment service..) so when his/her pledge has arrived I can finally really buy it.
Success! Got my paypal to go through. Good job everyone!

Awesome, thanks!
xdajog,
What is the status of this project?
I ask because I'm looking to replace my Mozilla Flame with a new Android device (and port FireFoxOS to it), and in order for that to happen, I need Cyanogenmod compatibility.
I'm between this and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, though I'd prefer the LG F3Q 1000-fold because it has a QWERTY keyboard!
Thanks!

Hey I won a case on TWitter but the official Twitter account for Armadillotek stopped replying to me and so I don't know how to receive it.
Should've probably mentioned that this is for US residents only. I would gladly share my feedback and such in all honesty. Still, it's nice of them to do this though. I hope this event would help them greatly.

The program is for U.S. only, and we only have cases for s10 and s10 plus, not 10 e
I have filled the form out, and ordered on in black.
I would do it but those cases are massive...I know, different strokes
I was good with everything until the social media stuff. They're buying followers. No respect for that.
I sent my request, it didn't ask for shipping address though.

They don't directly ship it to you they send you the money for the case via PayPal and have you order it from Amazon. I got picked last week and got mine over the weekend. So far I'm very pleased. It's not overly bulky and it allows for samsung pay.

Its only for u.s
Got mine yesterday and so far I'm impressed. Good protection for the edges which always is a concern of mine. Edge widgets will require a bit of adjustment to work.
Only complaint is if you are going after the Defender or Unicorn Beetle Pro is you need a belt clip.
just got mine really happy with it have already dropped my phone and case protected it perfectly can notice i dropped it! the kickstand comes in very handy also!!
Got approved for my case today, they paid me the 18.99 via paypal before i bought the case. i paid the extra $2 because i wanted a color one.
Said to just leave review on Amazon, and XDA.
So case will be here tomorrow. I will use it through the weekend and have a review ready on Monday.
Eff these people. They want me to buy the case FIRST off of Amazon. Not what the thread says. Here is their email to me.
If you agree to make a review at XDA with photos and link to my amazon page,
then you are in!
A lots of people said yet, but does not want to fulfill the words
make sure you can do it, before we start it
Also, so many people just took my money, without buying it. the ignored my email
So here is why I am going to do, you need to go to amazon purchase it first, send me the order-id, then i will send the money via paypal within 24 business hours.
Don't worry, your money is 100% safe, as If we dont give you the fund, you can return it back to Amazon, and give us 1 star review.
No seller will take money over reviews.

I just got the same email, and bought the case...not that big of a deal especially when you'll get a refund for it later. Plus I used the 40% off code and only paid $13 for the blue case. Not that big a deal for a "free" case, IMO.
They sent me the PayPal funds. I'm receiving it tomorrow, I hope it's good cause I'm going to be honest as sh** after i use it for a week.

He contacted me and sent me the money through paypal. I guess i can understand where he's coming from. A lot of people got the money and didn't order the case. I got the case today. I'll try it out and leave reviews after i've had a chance to make up my mind. I do think he's going a little overboard asking for multiple reviews and posts with pictures AND videos on Amazon, Facebook, Instagram etc. That;s a lot of work for a case you weren't really looking at to start with. I'll leave reviews and a pic or two but i doubt i'll leave videos unless it blows my mind..
