CM10/10.1 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I saw the alpha pop up the other day in development and then it was closed. Does anyone know why it was closed in particular?
Cyanogen mod is by far my personal favorite rom do to its nexus-esque feel. I love stock android style plus all the tweaking than CM allows for.
Can't wait to see CM10 and 10.1 for the Note

[Q] AOKP VS DS e3 v7

Hi guys, just recently came over from juggs. Currently running ds v7, im having app hangs and was wondering the honest opinion of aokp vs ds for those who have tried both. I will keep ds for now and see if problems persist. If so ill test aokp. Thanks.

Completely depends on the person TBH. I am currently running ICS Telus Darkside ROM as my daily driver and it's a fantastic ROM, no issues that I can complain about.
AOKP is also an amazing ROM. It's vanilla android so you don't get any bloat that you would typically get from the carrier. You also don't get manufacturer specific apps like Samsung Kies and Social Hub. What you do get is a very lean, very fast ROM with oodles and oodles of customizations.
Doesn't hurt to try and see what you like best. Just remember to make a nandroid. Peace and happy flashing.

Neither. If you want a stable Android ROM MOD go CM. There are really only two legitimate "developers" of ROM mods out there. The Cyanogenmod team and MIUI. I haven't seen a legitimate MIUI port for this device (other than a massaged ATT device trainwreck) yet but CM9 is stable and typical of CM, which is polished and refined. Not just a bunch of script kiddie edits. My opinion and you will get contrary opinions which is fine. Mine is based off 4 years of android device use and just as long modified ROM adoption. Will the others work on occasion? Yes, just not consistently and without a lot of actul improvements. Rather usually clumsy attempts as improvements that are just as likely to turn your phone in to a mess. Of the 5 android phones I've had this one has been no different with the MODs out there for me. My 2 cents.

In a way he's right. Aokp has issues for me as far as how out chooses to mount the Sd cards,.but so does cm9. Dark side would be the best of not for the app hang issue that remains present. The ics megamix rom has given me the best performance thus far as stability is concerned.

Wow, what an insult to the AOKP guys. To be honest both AOKP and cm9 had some of the same issues recently. So for you to talk down AOKP because that is how you come off, is putting down cm9 as well. Be careful as these teams put in a lot of free hardworking time for us.
To answer the op question.. I like both but I like AOKP better. They fixed the audio problem that drove us crazy thanks to some great team work from another group. Only issue I have ran into with whitehawkx recent build is panoramic is having audio issues. Other than that this is an amazing well put together very customizable rom. The lockscreen is pretty awesome as well. Here are a few pics.

I say use both, I came from darkside to AOKP, but I still have darkside v7 as my nandroid back up just in case, give aokp a test run like I am right now and see where it takes you, no opinion is better than hands on experience.
Thanks all, just flashed ds so ill run it for at least a day then nandriod it and give aokp a whirl. Tbh i CAME from juggs and not a diff version of ds so i may like aokp better. Anyone got theme links for aokp?
Darkside evolution is what I'm using. Not getting any app hangs

Since aokp is based off of cm9 they are a lot alike but aokp has more customizable features to it. There are bugs in both cm9 and aokp but it's to be expected with nightlies until it hits the stable. I have tried DS and prefer to stick with aokp. IMO

Lol the aokp team is pretty pro mate...
sorry unlike u some of us devs have more then just 7z skills or the people u downloaded roms from were just branded stock fail...
N people wonder why most the sgs2 devs left....
and JohnJon if you knew anything you would know miui is just a straight kang of cm with no credit given... The miui team still cant build there own rom from source without borrowing from cm wonder why that is...........
@ the person who asked which is better honestly go Aokp... Alot more customizatons then cm9.. Its fast its stably and you cant go worng with the pink unicorn...

to be honest if u ever have a issue with any rom make sure you start from clean slate wipe every thing wipe it again hell after that wipe it a third time to be safe then install.. Let rom sit for 20 mins before u do anything then add your apps back.. Dont use any restores as alot of times it causes more issues then a simple re download would have done better with.

WOW... That has to be the most disrespectful comment I've ever read. Do you realize how many devices the aokp team supports and how much work they put in for FREE and you go off saying they are a bunch of script kiddie edits.. These are the type of comments that has our section deemed the black sheep of android due to people like this disrespecting real devs. Next time keep your 2 cents in your pocket.
I have tried various builds of AOKP and CM9 and I keep going back to Darkside. TDJ is super helpful; if there are issues he responds light speed and gets them fixed.
AOKP and CM9 are nicer looking, I will give it that. I did, however, find that they are both buggier than darkside ROMS, as an example on both AOKP and CM9 I found that many programs did not recognize my external SD and the usual fixes did not work for me, or they did work and soon the apps would not recognize the external SD again.

Troll attempt?? You have to know how defensive folks get about the dd they choose to run.
Anyway, take features into consideration when choosing. I can't live without MMS over wifi so tmobile builds are the only way to go, for me. I do flash other ROMS pretty regularly but for me pushing the tech and seeing what the devs are capable of is where the real fun is...

Nexus Roms

Hiya everyone,
So I just became a Galaxy Nexus owner as of yesterday, and wondering what support is out there for this phone dev side as well whats everyones fav rom? I'm quite happy with the stock AOSP 4.2.1, however I do miss some customization of roms like from CM and AOKP when I was a S2/One X owner.
Wondering if its really worth that much of a change though however to go custom? I used to build on the S2 side of things so if there seems to be a strong community on the Nexus side maybe I'll reboot the old linux box.

You couldn't just look in the development section? And there is no favorite rom for everyone. I use slim but everyone has their own preference. No offense but I'd have expected a Dev to know better.
Try Xylon, custom toggle, custom navbar, custom status bar, custom kernel, custom .... Blablabla
A powerful mix of many CM, AOKP improvements and mainly lag and bug free

Do try Black Bean AOKP. I found this one a very complete and stable ROM in my starting days with Nexus.

Hmmm, why don't you try building as you used to do on your S II and customize your ROM the way you wish? Actually this is what I settled on after trying so many ROMs on my S II and I am following the same way with my GNex. I feel great and satisfied when I am running my own ROM and I may even bear some bugs in it just because it is mine

I may just have to do this, as I'm not looking to go down to 4.1.2, and the only 4.2.1 roms I've tried thus far actually haven't gone past the bootscreen logo oddly enough.

For me 4.2 is a total dissapointment,i'm still running 4.1.2 on CNA 3.8.0,the best i found out there. Tried all the 4.2 roms and all of them had that lockscreen delay that was driving me nuts so I decided remaining on 4.1.2 for a while. Also tried all the 4.1 roms but the best that fits my wishes is CNA with a stock look and tons of customization, along with faux' latest kernel, 23m-sr
Paranoidandroid hands down, no rom on this site is comparable when it comes to speed, smoothness, customizations and battery life all rolled into one, others may have one of those better but none have the combination and NONE have the amount of options.
What I am using currently can be found in my signature below.
If you're looking for a stock ROM that's merely been rooted and deodexed, bigxie's ROMs are solid and popular.
If you want a lean, clean, fast ROM with only the most useful modifications, it would be hard to beat Rascarlo's ROMs.
If you want ROMs with mods galore, some of the most popular ones are CyanogenMod, CodenameAndroid, and ParanoidAndroid. But there are plenty of others with dedicated followers.
I'm using Mmuzzy's AOSP 4.2.1 with kmameguy's MODs. I have the nice CM circle percent battery and other MODs, with the stability of 4.2.1 (as stable as it gets ATM) and probably 15-20 hours on battery. I don't think there are a lot of customizations on any 4.2 ROMs yet, as they're dealing mostly with stability issues. I've tried Factory, Vanir's beta, Xylon, and others... none have been super impressive to leave Mmuzzy's...

[Q] What are some things you like about AOKP 4.2 vs CM 10.1 and vice versa?

Hey all, first I'd like to say thanks to all the great devs here that have made my experience with Android (and in particular the ET4G) incredible. I'm amazed that I have been through 3 major upgrades of Android on an almost 2 year old device.
Since I first started using AOKP on ICS, I felt good about about finally having an AOSP build that fit most of my needs. AOKP always seemed to make more sense to me and have more features.
Since JB though, I'm not sure if its actually better than CM 10.1 now. I feel like I'm missing something from both to make a good decision.
So, I ask those of you who have used the new builds:
CM 10.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2099881
AOKP 4.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2116816
Are there things you like about one over the other? Do you have any tips for either rom that make it your go-to?
P.S. This isn't meant to be a flamewar, I'm sure we can discuss this as adults. Also, I apologize if this is in the wrong place/isn't allowed/in bad taste.
I prefer aokp, just because I like more customization. They are both very good builds right now! I am running jellybam right now, which is just like cm, aokp, and paranoid android all in one. Kinda like pacman
Sent from my Epic 4G touch, flying with jellybam
I prefer them both mashed together with paranoid sprinkled on top.
They are both great I used to only use AOKP and Paranoid. But lately I've been loving CM 10.1 and been sticking with it for a couple of weeks now. Now waiting for a Paranoid 3.0 build !
I really really love Paranoid Android. I could never switch back to not having individually customizable DPI, the tablet apps' DPIs are almost always more to my liking, calendar especially.
That is all.

[Q] What is Hands Down the Best ROM? And Please Do Not Say Depends On You!

Please steer this to Sprint Galaxy Nexus
There are so many to choose from and I do not particular want to try them all. So please do not say there is no best ROM it all depends on what you are looking for in a ROM or something stupid like that. I do not even know why people always leave lame remarks like that on FORUMS anyway.
I am just trying to install the latest and greatest ROM because I have been on
Eclipse-2.1-toroplus-build4.zip
Which I love but just seems a little old now and plus the Developer has moved on to Verizon only. I have been on this ROM for a long time and trust it; plus I have free WiFi Hot Spot plus LTE only option [Which is Amazing]!
So here are some ROMS which I am investigating…
[ROM][4.2.2 JDQ39 AOSP] Eos 4.0 – Toroplus
[AOSPA - 4.2.2] PARANOIDANDROID 3.56 (HALO7) [Toroplus] 22-MAY-2013
[ROM] [AOSP] MMuzzyROM for Toroplus - Jelly Bean 4.2.2 - JDQ39E
[ROM] BlackBean8 by TeamBaked 3-18
[ROM] JBSourcery 5.2-Toroplus ~4/21~ Nothing Compares
[ROM][MAY 4] rasbeanjelly [Android 4.2.2_r1.2 JDQ39E] [PRODUCT_DEVICE := toroplus]
[ROM][OFFICIAL] Cyanogenmod 9 RC1 (and nightly builds) for Sprint Galaxy Nexus
[WIP]MIUI.us Weekly Release-MIUIV4.1 for Toroplus-Sprint GNEX 2.10.26/Miui.us Toolbox
These ROM's are pretty much Sprint ROMS and I am wondering which one is the all around BEST and most used or popular.
What I am interested in a ROM is solid performance and not too much BETA testing.
WiFI Hot Spot is a must
LTE only option is pretty much a must
Other than that I’m flexible; I know there are a lot more new options out there like the pie feature and what not; but I’m not sure which ROM has the BEST setup ATM.
So please give me back your insight on your ROM usage of all the ROM’s you have experienced that I can actually put on my Sprint Galaxy Nexus. Please do not go into detail on ROM’s that I cannot even use on my phone.

[Q] Paranoid Android on Note 3???

On my note 2 I've had PA and I loved it. simple and easy but I just got started looking at serious developer ROMS since i got the note 3 and I don't have much knowledge on it and if PA is as effective as roms made already. So here are my questions:
Is paranoid android effective compared to let's say Jedi? And if it's not what's a good way to emulate it's features(such as hybrid)
Is it developed already for the Note 3? If not when do you think it will push out?
Since I've been modding with roms already made I have learned alot since my switch to the note 3. and I feel like I am way behind when it comes to developing and customizing(i just edited my first systemui on apktool last night) so it's been inspiring me to learn more. But i just love the simplisticity of PA.
Thanks guys! I look forward to becoming an active member on XDA!
PA is based on AOSP/CM. Until we get a built-from-source ROM available for Note3, you won't be able to get PA. IMO, the best thing in PA is per-app DPI, and you can get that with Xposed and the App Settings module. You also already have a better version of floating windows in the stock ROM.

If CM hasn't started supporting it yet, don't expect to see it on PA, AOKP, etc til then. Usually CM waits for recovery to be working on all variants before they start to really push for support.
Pay close attention to their gerrit here: http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/q/statuspen,n,z
But like I said once most variants get a working recovery CM and others will start to support the Note 3 in terms of AOSP ROMs. Right now, AT&T and VZW are both waiting for stable recovery. Usually once those 2 are going, since T-Mobile and Sprint don't really lock their bootloaders, it'll happen. Just be patient. We probably won't see 4.3 AOSP on the Note 3... more than likely it'll be 4.4 KitKat

Kit kat is supposed to be release soon i hope with the nexux 5. I guess untill then ill get to fool around with what is made now. And yes atnt and vzw are reeeeally strict on bootloading. Just one of many reason why i eventually switched to tmo!
Thanks by the way! Good info I didn't know CM and PA are related.

No problem. Yeah most AOSP based ROMs are based on CyanogenMod. Ones that aren't are ones that are built from pure AOSP, which usually are Nexus devices...

PA is based on AOSP/CM. Until we get a built-from-source ROM available for Note3, you won't be able to get PA. IMO, the best thing in PA is per-app DPI, and you can get that with Xposed and the App Settings module. You also already have a better version of floating windows in the stock ROM.

Yeahhh I guess it's best just to wait on it all. per-app DPI works really well and so does floating windows with touch-wiz, but, call me lazy, I would just like a way to have access to the windows without having to use the spen. But it's progress! For now I'm using the floating notification app which is pretty cool.

Great! Yeah I'll be using this myself... :good:
The better question is when will we be seeing the Illusion rom? Absolutely one of the best rom I've ever used.:victory:
I like the pen launcher, very nice little app. Well worth the whole 1.50 I think it was.

Thus my fledgling wings appear. I know not of this Illusion rom. I'll look it up! I had time at work read up on somethings and found out about AOKP... any good?

AOKP = My personal favorite. It's practically CyanogenMod with even more fluff! Just as simple to use, too! :good:

Wow that theme he's using is really nice.
I'll take any CM or AOSP rom right now. TW on this phone is nice, but I could careless any of the features of offers. I don't use.

I know right? After using CM for so long on my note 2, TW is so bloated. I can't wait either AOKP or Illusion to be developed for my device.
This time around on my Note 3, I'm not using any CM based roms. On my previous phone, a mt4gs from HTC, I was flashing a different CM based rom every month or every other month but on a friends phone, a Note 2, I had put Jedi Master on it and was impressed. So I waited a couple of weeks after getting my phone, watching what was being released and ended up settling on the latest release by jovi23 of his DarthStalker rom and have been impressed with it. My only complaint and it is such a tiny complaint too, is that he has 4x4/5x5/5x6 icon grids for the home screen but no 4x6.

Well Personally I use sslauncher and that solves my grid problems. And I guess it's people preference, I just don't like TouchWiz. To Samsung: Note 3: Awesomeness, Touchwiz: Score of Zero. I started on DarthStalker which was awesome, but then I got curious about the roms made recently so now I'm currently on Jedi Elite, which is good too. I think I may switch back to DS because I've noticed some lagginess on Jedi that I didn't experience with Darth.
Sweet OP type building cm and Pa for the phone awesome sauce..
