Just wondering if anyone has figured out how to do the mod from the S3 on our N2 too allow the volume buttons to act as track skip keys?
I have been looking myself, does not appear to be present on any of the custom roms. You can try tactile player, its in the play store. Not as clean as the rom based implementations but better than nothing.
idk about you but I only missed that until I realized the stock headphones could pause AND skip track from the inline buttons

how did you get it to do that? If i press and hold the volume keys, it just rapidly increases the volume and makes my ears bleed for a moment.

Was wondering if anyone seemed to have my problem- my text notification sound is way louder than my S3's normal notification sound. I've looked all over to see if there is a different tweak but I can find it. I'm probably totally missing the obvious here.
Still on stock, btw. Might be something that rooting would fix?
The volume keys are on the left. The lower one (vol-dwn) seems to work for me . No root required. XD

There is a seperate volume for notifications. Once you hit the volume button and the slider appears on the screen, press the gear icon on the right of the slider. That opens up a submenu. You can just turn down the notification sound separately.
If it's just the text notification compared to the other notifications that is too loud then you are SOL. Try picking another sound.

Isn't this app built into the Galaxy series? Seems to be missing in the Tmo GN2. Are we to rely on a 3rd party app?
If we are thinking about the same thing, it's there. Hold the home button down and then click the circle in the lower left corner.

You can install a simple shortcut app that can send you directly to the Note2 built in taskmanager. This app was originally created for the GS3, however it works great on our Note2.
You can find it on the Google Play store: HERE.
If there is any issues with it, it will be: it stays on the screen for about 10 secs as an active task in itself before it disappears.
I hope this works for you.

Hope that helps.
Note 2, yeah son!
Hi,
I bought on ebay a headphone coming from a Galaxy Note2 to use on the Galaxy Nexus. The headphone looks like that:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
It looks like that the volume control buttons don't operate. Nothing happens when I click on these buttons. However may be the microphone works because I was able to talk while the phone is in my pant pocket.
I use N7Player to play audio. The best I can do is to enable the option "Enable headset controls" then when I hit the +/- button of the headphone volume control, the actual action is move previous/next track. May be it's a cool things but I'd rather prefer to control the volume instead. The 3rd button (having 2 dots) works as pause/play which is perfect.
However, outside of the N7Player app, the buttons of the headphone have no effects. Is there anything special to make these buttons work?
Thanks in advance for any help
Mine works the same, using poweramp and dont have the option to change the volume via headset.

How come you can use Tapatalk HD on your Galaxy Nexus? When it was on sale for $1. I could not buy it because the Play store said it is incompatible with my device.
Im new over on this chunk of xda my wife has the sphd710 sprint model I have flashed to boost mobile. The power button sticks when waking the screen. And the phone shuts off. Its on stock jb gb27. What I am trying to accomplish is either a custom rom or kernel that supports sweep2wake or button remapping. I personally use HTC devices. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this sorted out there seems to be a million variations of this phone and im not sure what to use. I have rooted the phone but thats it. Stock recovery as well. I have odin on my pc and odin mobile pro on the phone as well. Thanks for any and all input.

Try Gravity Screen Off in the Play Store or there is an Xposed Framework module which allows for button remapping called Xposed Additions

Could be a bad power button. I had the same symptoms and sent mine out for a repair. I think it cost around $40 bucks including return shipping to fix. Quick turn-around and works great now. You might be able to find some locally to fix it. Repairing smart phones is getting to be a cottage industry.

If I felt like taking it apart I'd solder a new one in myself just too lazy. When the power button quit on my one xl I just activated sweep2wake

If your having problems with your phone displaying the annoying message everytime you increase your volume too high while the screen is off. Then you have to select ok to put the volume level higher.
LOOK NO FURTHER
ITS THE SIMPLEST FIX I HAVE FOUND FOR THIS!
No need to install Xposed / Wanam Xposed.
The fix can be done right on your phone.
NOTE: This worked for me on a costom rom. Wicked v8_4.2.2
I do Not know if this works on a srock rom without root. I have not tested.
FIRST
Open stock music app

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
SECOND
Hit menu key and select settings.
THIRD
Make sure you select a check mark for Smart Volume
FORTH
Exit
This removed my unsafe volume warning from all my music apps including: youtube
Spotify
Pandora
And music app of course
NOTE: I had to do this twice to make it stick for all music apps.
Just uncheck and recheck smart volume again.
Then your finished I hope this helps!!

Do you have to do this every time you restart your phone? It works on stock, but if you restart it you have go through this again. Good find though.

Yeah I did notice that too.. but all in all. Its a quick little fix. And seems to work when mods fail for me. Thanks for the input though.
