When I dial *228 to activate the phone the keypad disappears and I am unable to get it back to enter information when prompted. Anyone know what I am doing wrong to not be able to get the keypad for the phone back?
Dial *228+ instead of *228

I have S-off, I went from the .0 software version to .2 software version and then applied the 2.2 update.zip file through stock recovery (I unrooted). After applying the 2.2 zip, my phone is asking me to activate and it is unsuccessful every time and routes me to Verizon customer service. They are closed right now, but I'm planning on calling tomorrow morning if all else fails. Anybody know a fix and, if not, should I be worried about my phone not activating because I wasn't meant to get 2.2 yet?
Hi.
After applying the ota over the update.zip i had the same issue i end up just calling them and saying i had gotten it "ota" and they told me to do the following to manually activate it.
dial ##778 and hit send then press edit mode
the password is 000000

go under nam settings and make sure
Mobile directory number is your 10 digit number no spaces
the min1 is you seven digit number no spaces
the min2 is your 3 digit area code
and the msid should again be your ten digit.

hit the back arrow then go to homesid/home nid this is where it gets tricky because this is the cell towers in you local area
In northeast ohio my home sid is 54 and the nid is 65535 which i believe is network standard for verizon but not 100% percent sure.
You may be able to google for this or find it in another verizon phone from a friend of family member in the area. If this is to much just call verizon explain it won't activate they will run you through all these steps and tell you the proper one.
Next you need to backout again
Verizon didn't tell me this step but with out it data doesn't work
Go to m.ip default profile and change nai to your 10 [email protected]

Click to collapse
When you are done click menu button on phone then commit Modifications

This will get the basic functionality of you phone working there are still some settings in there that a *228 activation would change that i didn't but i haven't noticed any lost functionality or billing issues yet.
I tried changing my Min1 as it wasn't set to my phones number. After about 3 to 4 days I could not make any calls without being transferred to an operator.
As soon as I changed it back I was able to make calls again.
I do not recommend changing this field unless the Verizon techs tell you to do so..
Additional Information:
After doing some google searching I've found that it is completely normal for your MSID number to be different than your phone number. In this case the Droid incredible uses the MIN1 and MIN2 to fill in the MSID number.
So again I say do not edit these fields unless told to do so by your carrier as they must give you the correct information or your phone will not be able to make or receive calls.
I feel smart suddenly
I hear you gotta call boost but when I dial 611 from the flashed evo and i wait after the error 16 announcement it says to reach customer service please dial the phone number supplied by your service provider and the call hangs up by itself it never gets to a rep
can anyone help me fix this problem on the evo thanks..
Im having the same problem. I even put the phone to complete stock thinking the s=off was causing it. I think you need to have them change the MDI Number have not tryed.

You don't have to call boost directly using 611. Make a phone call & you'll hear the error 16 message. Don't hang up. Your call will be directed to a boost rep that will fix the issue while your on the phone. They'll then tell you to reboot your phone. Once you reboot your good.

I just fixed my error 16. You will need a another boost phone just to switch to for like 10min then i switched back to original . Goto boost.com and update handset.
Thanks

By doing that doesn't the e.s.n change?
Then changing the A.A.A Keys?
Only giving you 1x speeds instead of 3g?
Showing the 3g symbol but unauthenticated under 33284?

Interesting. Thanks for your response.
Does the status under authentication change to failed when not connected to 3g?
I notice when 33284 says Im connected to 3g the authentication says
65=65=65=65
or
100=100=100=100
But not Authenticated =1
Sometimes it does say unathenticated.
Speeds are still terrible.
I had an Error 16 before talk and text was working. My e.s.n is different now after the Error 16 fix.
For anyone having a similar problem my only advice is to restart from scratch. You shouldnt get an Error 16 at all, not all of the information was properly transferred.
did any body get the get speed fixed i
have the same problem can some help
me with this problem.
You may want to update your data profile under the settings menu. Its under system updates. I do mine periodically and have little to no issues.

I need to dial some numbers during the *228 call for activation.
Dont know how, any clue?
*22891 is programing and *22890 is prl update. Just direct numbers if you can't pull up the keypad like on aosp
Thanks for that (also thanked in your original post)! I've had the same problem with CM9.
Note that I think:
*22890 = Verizon Programming *22891 = Preferred Roaming List (PRL) Update

*228,,,1,,3,,1
And that was all, the commas are the 2 second pauses
Thank you for posting dudes
Some phones you dial something like ##DEBUG#, enter some numbers for a lock code and then you can find it.
What's the procedure for the OG?

Not sure if you can see signal strength this way and I don't know the "Service code" to edit the data...but... ##DATA# works in the dialer as does ##DEBUG#
OK thanks, RS. To check the strength do this:
1.) ##DEBUG#
2.) Select LTE Engineering
3.) Under RSRP there's the dBms.
Okay, I have a GS3. I swapped the ESN (Evo 4G) and now I can't get 3G
The only time I have 3G is on a stock Rom with the MD4 Modem but even than it feels like 1x.
I've tried all the radios, with no luck including the MD4 one. I've been trying to get it working the past two days now with no luck.
Someone PLEASE, please PLEASE help me?

I do have the MSL
I'm not exactly sure what I should be seeing in the Data menu, but I have gone in there a few times turning things on and off to try and get things working, otherwise I switch is back to default.
Okay,I can try to help for what I know, what was the purpose of you cloning the esn?

Any help you can give me is much appreciated. I can't stand this 1x :/
Does anyone think it could have anything to do with the donor phone?

Im not on sprint, but what does it show as the Mobile network type under Settings: About Device: Mobile network type?
I was messing with my phone and had changed the settings in ##DATA#
I was getting 1x only so I had to change the HDR/1x Selection under Data: Others. Hybrid works the best for me, but you could try changing to "LTE + CDMA + EVDO Mode. When I selected CDMA only then it only got 1x and not full EVDO/3g.
If that's not it did you have to enter the HA & AAA secret keys to get data to work?

Earlier OP said he is not sure what he should be doing is ##data# menu, maybe I can break it down
Do ##data# on dialer
click on edit
type in msl
enter in 6 digit MSL
**To Enter HDR/1x Selection Stated Above**
Select Other > Select HDR/1X Selection > Select Mode( Try LTE + CDMA + EvDO, if that doesnt work try hybrid or global mode)
Just browse the data menu but do not touch korean mode ever.
for HA and AAA Keys noted aboved its within the Data Profile in the menu of MSL,
let us know if this helps, going to be honest I am a noob but I can research these things as I have been doing so passively trying to fix my own problem
Thanks for the help guys. I was messing around the other day in the settings and somehow wiped my username and MSID. I got the username back, now I'm trying to get the MSID so i can get my phone back on Sprint. I"m an idiot sometimes... lol
As soon as I get back on Sprint I'll let you know how it works out!
Thanks again
To get msin you can just do phone activation through menu and if that doesn't work a sleight tech can provide a new one
