Has anyone figured out how to change the name yet? I have been playing around and managed to get rid of the carrier name and add a logo, found it on another forum, but I was curious to know if anyone found a way to do this yet.
I know it's been done by Freeza did it on the SIII, and I tried to follow it but the .xml files are pretty different, so it was a no go for me. Hopefully someone way smarter than I am can figure this one out.

I was curious if anyone knows how to unencrypt(sp?) xml files. I am trying to build a theme and wanted to browse through some xml's to see if I could change the color of the digital clock on the status bar, among other things. I tried googling to no avail. Is this even possible at this time, or am I just going to have to wait until someone figures out how to unencrypt these files? Just some general advice on how this filetype behaves in android would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance...
Stericson is currently in the process of this. He'll let us know when he's got it.
Shoulda figured Stericson had a hand in this matter. He is extremely valuable in the development of our devices, in fact, I almost sent him a PM to ask him about this matter directly, but I wanted to gather some general info/advice from everyone. Thanks for the reply Phromik, and thanks be to Stericson too, for being such an indispensable asset to these forums.
Ahhh, many thanks....Unfortunetly, this is not easy in the least. As for right now the xmls can be decrypted, vis some tool online you can find by googling, but you can also see the xmls in plain text by downloading the source and looking through them. I am trying hard to get these done but it is not easy in the least. Much more difficult then what we are doing now.
We will get it though, no worries, just may take some time.

Hey all. I'm not sure if this question has an obvious answer, but...how on earth do you know what images to change when creating a theme? It took me a while to realize that the dialpad was in the contacts apk, and I'm constantly searching for which image goes with the corresponding image on the phone. Is there an easy way to look at, say, the messaging app, and know which images within the apk I need to edit? It can't be simple trial and error, or I'm sure many of you would've gone crazy creating the themes you've brought here. Please, if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
Does anyone know if there's any way to get LG's On-Screen Phone working on our phones? It comes stock with the AT&T version (thread about that here), but not ours for some reason. I spent a few hours playing around with things and was able to get the apk for it installed and all the options to appear under Settings > PC Connection, but the program on the PC side just doesn't detect anything. Of course I'll be the first to admit that I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing lol.
It seems like it should be possible though, and if any of the wiser minds around here could figure it out that would be awesome. I remember using a near-identical program way back on my HTC 8125, and it really could come in handy sometimes...
This would be cool if we could get it working.

That would be sweet if we could get this working on our phones. I remember having to search high and low on my old samsung moment for something like this and it was a really useful application when I finally found it.
I imagine it is just an apk installed on the phone side. I wonder if I can ask someone on the at&t side if they can pull the apk. Maybe we can just push it to the phone and it will work. Maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in?

There is an apk floating around somewhere. Installing it will add a new section under Settings>PC Connection called LG Apps, under which is On-Screen Phone, but the only thing you can do with it is set-up & change a password. I decompiled the apk, played around a bit with things, and was able to get one or two other options to show up, but unfortunately none of it actually does anything towards making it work lol.
Here's the apk if anyone wants to poke around in it....For the PC software just go to the LG Support site for the AT&T model (E970).

I honestly couldn't tell you. I spent a couple hours changing different things around without really knowing what I was doing lol.
I should have some time tonight to maybe mess with this.

Ok, i know there has to be someone out there smarter than me that can make this work. My problem is i just dont really know where to even begin looking.
Im attempting to edit the Smileys that are used on our phone. I wanna create custom ones. Nothing crazy or fancy, just some PNG files that i have. Im sure there is a file/folder somewhere where i can edit the values for the smileys i just dont know where it is. Ive googled and searched through the forums but im coming up short.
If it is truly not possible, im willing to accept that, i just want the satisfaction of knowing i tried what i could to make it happen.
Thank you to anyone that can help in advance.
Just wondering if someone could post a copy of their build.prop. would just like to compare and see where mine went wrong.
Preferably a GSM model but will appreciate anything anyone posts.
Here you go..
