Google Voice w/4.2 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Has anybody noticed Google Voice acting funny while using 4.2 roms? I'm using a toroplus gnex and the two 4.2 ROMs I've tried Google Voice acts up; mainly freezing up from time to time while I'm trying to send a text message. Anyone else?

Nah I haven't got that problem.. I'm using the kalo rom, it's quite the same as the standard android (no skins or anything like that).. Maybe you should try that one?

And you're using the most recent version from the Play Store? Because I know I read Voice wasn't working with 4.2 but I think it has received it's compatibility update now.

No Problem.

Yes, it's the most recent version. I've tried reinstalling it and wiping cache but neither seems to fix it.

[Q] Chrome not compatible???

I got the ICS upgrade, and Google Play says Chrome isn't compatible. Why?
That sucks. Haven't tried over here yet. Still de-bloating this *****.
You must not have ICS.

I can confirm that Chrome works for me.
I rebooted my phone and now it works. Strange.
Is there going to be support for Google Wallet now that we have ICS? I tried it, but it complains it's not certified and exits.
Its up to "the carriers". Recently the big 4 want to start their own NFC Waller thing going.

Install Google Now on rooted ICS

I looked through and did a couple searches and didn't see anything about this on the Galaxy Nexus forums so I figured I would share it here for anyone wanting to try it. You must be rooted and on an AOSP based ROM. Voice isnt working yet but other than that it's working fine for me.

Good find. Useful for people who require an app for their day to day that hasn't been updated to JB yet, or those unwilling to lose their favorite ROM's features.
Otherwise, you're better off upgrading to JB
I'm holding out for AOKP, hopefully it doesn't take them too long to integrate JB after the source is released.
Is it stable?

I installed it.
Gives me a Network Error oh well, not like I used Google Search anyway

I also get a toast message when I open the app that says "Network error. Check your connection." But it functions just fine, there is no missing data connection or anything. Is that what you are refering to? You get the message but it works anyway, right?
it doesn't work with the network error.

fixed with this though.

Are you talking about Google Now? Because that works fine for the inc2 just no mic support. Its running fine on aeroevan cm9 with v10 kernel here

The new voice assistance added into JB, i was wondering if it was possible to be ripped / spliced with ICS
Exactly like rshift said, there is a version for ICS, but it's not optimized whatsoever. Some but not all cards work, and I'm yet to receive a notification fro doing things outside of the house.
To top it all off, no, the voice input and Text to Speech are still broken because of what they think is a kernel issue, so don't expect anything useful/different from your normal Google Search until we get a Jelly Bean port of our own.
However, if you want to try it for yourself, go ahead and look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224
The instructions are pretty straightforward, but make sure to create a backup like it says in case something goes wrong.
Google will definitely have to release this for ICS. How many people will even have a phone on 4.1 in the near future.
I just booted up a working version of 4.1 and was super sad to see that Google Now wasn't working yet...But they are working hard to get it going!

Google Play Error

Ever since I got my SIII, I've been having problems with the Play Store. Anytime I go to purchase a paid application, I get the error "Unable to retrieve information from the server [DF-DFERH-01]. Googling this error only shows me a bug that affected the GTalk a few months back. But the even more odd thing is, its starting to happen on my N7 as well. I can download free apps fine. It looks like it's having problems initilizing Google Wallet for the purchase. Wasnt having these problems with my other phone (EVO 4G LTE on Sprint). Is this a known bug with T-Mobiles networks? I've tried it on multiple wireless networks, as well as HSPA. Even had my buddy sitting right next to me try and he could download fine. I'm rooted on CM10 today, but I've tried 3-4 other ROMS with the same problem. Almost positive its tied into my Google account. Did the basic troubleshooting steps such as clearing the Play Store data/cache/uninstalled a Google Play Services update, and re-added my Google account. Is anyone else experiencing this? And if so, is there a known fix?

I did actually. I switched to ParanoidAndroid for a second to see a new build. I screwed around for a few seconds then uninstalled it.

How would I tell that? It was set to stock when I flashed PA. And I set everything back before I flashed back.
Could also be a problem with your account like you mentioned. I think some people have had problems when having multiple services associated with that account. Maybe create a new account and see if it still happens. Dont know how inconvenient that may be for you.
But if its happening on different roms and devices then its surely the account. Maybe contact google support?

Yeah. That's kind of worst case scenario. I know they're a PITA to get in touch with. That's why I was seeing if there is anyone else with this problem that could possibly help me fix it.

Possible bug on KK 4.4.2 with Tmobiles Visuall Voicemail app?

Tried this on multiple KK roms and got the same bug. After playing a voicemail from the app, the ear speaker gets staticy on all calls afterwords and only a reboot clears it. This only happens after I play a VVM.
Results from Slimkat, Beanstalk and Hellkat with radio UVUEMJC, all clean flashes.
Have not tried a different radio because never had this issue on 4.3. Loudspeaker works fine with music, only inner speaker.
Can anybody confirm or offer any insight?

Mine does the same. I just went back to listening to my VM by calling in. I'm interested to see if there is some type of fix for this issue.

Yes! mine does the same thing! Very annoying. I finally uninstalled it begrudgingly... I use it quite frequently, but it was screwing up my calls!
Also on 4.4 Beanstalk
I don't use T-Mo's Voicemail at all. But then I understand the issue. OP uses Visual Voicemail. Is that the same case for you two ?
Please note Visual Voicemail is a Touchwiz app. So it will act wonky on AOSP. Try Killing it off of Recents bar after listening.
Actually, it's not a touchwiz app, it's a T-Mobile app. It works on a variety of devices (Samsung, HTC, LG, etc) and roms (touchwiz, sense, aosp/cm). It worked perfectly on either up to jellybean so it seems to be strictly a kit kat problem. Swiping it out of recents didn't work, only a reboot did. And I downloaded from play store instead of restoring a backup, same problem. Sucks cause I love visual voicemail :/

On S3 I saw it make calls to TWFramework-Res not to Framework. Tells me it needs some dependancy. It does not work as well on AOSP.

Worked fine for me on slimbean 4.3 but now on 4.4 it has the bugs described above, even on the galaxy s4

Did you try clearing cache & data for the app?
Kitkat reacts the exact same way when listening to voice mail on the Xfinity connect app. I use both the Tmobile and Xfinity app and usually have to reboot after using either. Same problem on Beanstalk and Carbon roms. Don't think it's just a T-Mobile issue.

Google Voice plays just fine. But then its Google.
Thanks for that info, good to know more apps are affected. Maybe it can be fixed eventually.
